Chapter 136 The Giant Python

Lin Chuchu boarded the plane amidst the worried gazes of the two men.

No one knows when Lin Chuchu will be able to return from this trip.

They could only offer their silent blessings, hoping that the two would be safe and sound.

After boarding the plane, Lin Chuchu felt even more worried.

To distract herself, she could only close her eyes and go to sleep.

When the plane landed that evening, Lin Chuchu immediately spotted two police officers in uniform.

Lin Chuchu quickly stepped forward, about to say something, when a police officer immediately took the package from her hands.

"Hello, Comrade Linlin. Our director sent us to pick you up. We can talk about it in the car."

Lin Chuchu nodded. Seeing the familiar surroundings outside, she had no time to appreciate them; all she could think about was seeing the director as soon as possible.

The three of them headed straight for the police station.

Upon arriving at the police station, Lin Chuchu quickly got out of the car.

The bureau chief was already waiting, and his eyes lit up when he saw Lin Chuchu.

"Comrade Lin, that's great! You've finally arrived. We've been waiting for you."

Lin Chuchu nodded and followed him inside, asking questions as she went.

Where did Mu Chen disappear?

"It's located at the border, close to the sea and forest. We suspect that Mu Chen has already crossed the border. Everyone is searching diligently, and we believe we will have results soon."

The bureau chief spoke as if offering comfort, but also as if talking to himself.

Mu Chen was someone he admired, and it was he who agreed to let Mu Chen go undercover.

He was also the one most worried about Mu Chen's safety.

If something happens to Mu Chen, he will feel guilty for the rest of his life.

Lin Chuchu paused, realizing that once they crossed the border, people would be hard to find.

Then her steps became firm again; no matter what, she had to bring Mu Chen back.

It was for her family, but even more so for herself.

She couldn't imagine how heartbroken Mr. and Mrs. Mu would be if they knew their son was missing.

Have you notified our family?

The director shook his head. "No, Mu Chen said before that if anything happens to him, we shouldn't tell his parents first, because he's afraid the old folks won't be able to handle it."

Lin Chuchu didn't say anything, and the others didn't know what to say either, so they simply walked quickly inside.

Upon entering an office, they immediately saw familiar figures—members of the special forces team, led by the captain who had previously interacted with Lin Chuchu.

The captain quickly stepped forward and greeted Lin Chuchu.

"Comrade Lin, this time we will cooperate with you again. Don't worry, we will definitely rescue Comrade Mu Chen."

Lin Chuchu squeezed his hand and said gratefully, "Thank you so much, you've gone to so much trouble again."

"This is what we should do."

After exchanging a few polite words, they got down to business.

Because Lin Chuchu knows how to fire a gun, her superiors approved her to carry a gun license and to carry sufficient firearms and ammunition.

Lin Chuchu changed into camouflage clothing and looked at herself in the mirror with a determined gaze.

Lin Chuchu murmured, "Lin Chuchu, you have to keep going. Mu Chen is still waiting for you."

The team members drove two cars, taking Lin Chuchu towards the border.

There were police cars leading the way in the city, and there were no obstacles.

As the car passed through the suburbs, the roads on both sides became increasingly desolate.

The captain said to Lin Chuchu.

"You should take a nap, we're going to be driving for a long time."

Lin Chuchu nodded and closed her eyes to rest.

Lin Chuchu was indeed exhausted. After all, she hadn't slept all night and had worked until dawn. Even though she had rested for a while on the plane, she was still mentally drained.

Lin Chuchu closed her eyes and fell asleep after an unknown amount of time. When she woke up again, it was the captain who woke her up.

As dawn broke again, we found ourselves at the foot of a mountain.

Lin Chuchu looked at the mountain in front of her, which seemed so familiar. It was only a feeling of familiarity because she had encountered danger in the mountains several times before. She didn't know if she could successfully cross the forest this time.

The team leader said, "Let's eat something first to conserve our energy, then we'll head into the mountains soon."

Their search route passed through two villages known for their fierce inhabitants, where weapons were hidden.

Once a conflict breaks out, the villagers won't care whether you're a police officer or not, so this trip is particularly dangerous for them.

Lin Chuchu ate a bite of dry food, drank a sip of warm water, refused help from others, and carried her own pack on her back.

The package was actually quite heavy, containing some ammunition and even two hand grenades, just in case.

The team leader said, "If you're tired, take over for someone else. Don't delay our schedule."

Lin Chuchu was aware of her disadvantage, and smiled at him, "Don't worry, I have never given up exercising in the past year or so, and I won't hold you back."

Lin Chuchu was quite familiar with most of the team members, and the two strangers didn't react at all when they heard this.

This time, Lin Chuchu came fully equipped, wearing hiking shoes and carrying a stun gun that could be extended to serve as a walking stick.

Even so, everyone deliberately slowed down to match Lin Chuchu's speed, but this was still much better than what an ordinary woman could do.

The captain stayed by Lin Chuchu's side the whole time, helping her clear away the obstacles in her path.

The air was too stuffy, and Lin Chuchu didn't like the quiet environment; her mind kept wandering.

She started looking for topics to talk about.

"I didn't expect you to be the captain of this special operations team. I thought you had been promoted a long time ago."

So young, and already an officer, if he gets promoted again he'll be a battalion commander, he really has a bright future ahead of him.
