Filled with endless regret, the few remaining survivors could only hide carefully, praying not to be found by those crazed soldiers.
They had received a proper education in China, so they naturally knew that what they were doing was wrong and that there was a high possibility that their race would be wiped out.
They were hiding in a basement, and one of them whispered.
"If we manage to seize a communication station and notify China, will China come to our rescue?"
He still harbored a sliver of hope. The Chinese were fiercely protective of their own, and they had once been French citizens. Perhaps the Chinese would set aside past grievances and come to their rescue?
Suddenly, everyone's eyes turned expectant.
Just as everyone was looking forward to it, someone couldn't help but pour cold water on their hopes.
"Stop daydreaming. The day you chose to renounce your Chinese citizenship, you ceased to be Chinese. Do you really think China is so kind as to save you traitors?"
Some people disagreed, saying, "Aren't you the same?"
"Exactly! You say we chose to renounce our Chinese citizenship, but didn't you renounce yours too? How dare you criticize us?"
"What a big shot, all talk and no action."
Everyone knew they were wrong, but they were even more unwilling to have it pointed out to them by others.
The person who had spoken shook his head, ignoring them, and buried his head in his knees, remaining silent.
Lin Chuchu and her group entered international waters, and the group of 51 people transferred to a smaller boat.
When they were the only ones left on the ship, Lin Chuchu clearly noticed that their expressions had changed.
Becoming serious and carrying weapons at all times, Lin Chuchu, though still free to move about, could sense the protection the others were giving her.
She didn't feel anything was wrong because she had always lived like this, with someone always protecting her. Even in the base, on that short road home from get off work, there was at least a group of people secretly watching her.
Lin Chuchu wasn't used to it at first, but later she got used to it.
Once the small boat entered the territorial waters of Japan, and seeing no patrolling warships, the group boldly steered the boat directly to the Japanese dock.
"Captain Qin, where are our backups?"
Lin Chuchu asked curiously, but did not peek out to look.
She did whatever Qin and the others told her to do.
Team Leader Qin's eyes narrowed slightly. "Soon."
There are Chinese people in Japan who have been lurking here for a long time, and Captain Qin believes that these people will not betray their country.
Now that they have informed the other party that they will be arriving at the port in Japan within the next two days, someone will surely come to meet them.
Sure enough, two people ran out of a building that had been completely reduced to ruins. The two people's clothes hadn't been changed in a long time, and they were very thin, clearly due to long-term starvation.
Team Leader Qin nervously exchanged coded signals with the other side, while the two men opposite him calmly responded amidst dozens of gun barrels.
Once they matched the code, they knew this was one of their own.
Everyone relaxed, changed the direction of their guns, and became alert to their surroundings.
The two were invited aboard the ship. Lin Chuchu recognized one of them; he was the Chinese spy she had met when she first landed in Japan.
However, he looked weathered and aged considerably.
The other party clearly recognized Captain Qin and Lin Chuchu as well.
"Comrades, it's been a long time! I wonder if there's any task back home that needs to be assigned to us?"
People from their hometown are coming, but they have no idea why they're coming.
What does Japan, now known as the land of cherry blossoms, still need that China needs?
If they really do have it, they will definitely help get it.
Team Leader Qin shook his head. "Thank you for your hard work. You should eat something first, and we'll talk later."
After they finished speaking, everyone brought the food to the table together. There were more than a dozen dishes, and the two of them stared wide-eyed at them.
They hadn't eaten Chinese food for a very, very long time.
One of them sniffed, “This tastes absolutely authentic. It would be great if we had some wine with it.”
The sake from Japan always tastes a little strange, it even has a floral aroma. Right now, he only craves the strong liquor from China.
I really want a shot of strong liquor.
They would naturally fulfill this request. Lin Chuchu returned to her room, took out several kinds of wine from her spatial storage, and then had someone take the wine out.
Their eyes lit up, and they stared at the wine bottle for a long time, unable to look away.
The two were so hungry that they wolfed down their food until they were stuffed, at which point they slowed down and drank their wine sip by sip.
"I'm sorry to have made you laugh. We really haven't had any hometown food in so long."
The two scratched their heads a little embarrassedly and offered a defense.
Team Leader Qin would never laugh at them for such a trivial matter; in fact, he respected them from the bottom of his heart.
Suddenly, Qin's expression turned serious.
How many of our men are left?
The two exchanged a glance, a hint of sorrow flashing in their eyes. "Now, we only have five of our people left in Sakura Country."
"One of them is on his way, and the other two are very far away. For now, we can only let them hide."
Team Leader Qin's breath hitched; no one had expected things to get to such a difficult point.
If we hand over the poison gas bombs to them, can they really protect them? Moreover, to cover the entire island of Japan with poison gas, we would have to bury the bombs in different locations.
With only three people, is it really possible to do it?
Everyone had the same thought in their minds, and Lin Chuchu quietly tugged at Qin's clothes.
