When Lin Chuchu went to the cafeteria for lunch, she ate with the girls in her class.
Suddenly seeing the class monitor walk in, the female student lowered her voice.
“I heard that someone came to the school looking for the class monitor. The other person seemed to be a street thug who came and immediately asked him for money.”
"Yes, I heard he didn't want to give it, and he even got beaten up. He was all bruised and swollen. Humph, he deserved it."
The class monitor wasn't very popular and always acted arrogantly in class.
Who would listen to a mere class monitor? Only he takes himself seriously.
Lin Chuchu did see the bruises hidden under the class monitor's glasses.
She's been so busy lately that she'd completely forgotten about the class monitor; she hadn't even settled the score with him for the last competition.
After finishing our meal quickly, we ran into the class monitor as we were leaving.
Lin Chuchu's eyes flickered slightly, and as she turned around, she kicked a bone on the ground at the class monitor.
"Ouch..."
Crash!
The class monitor lost his balance, leaned forward, and knocked over a pile of neatly stacked plates.
Everyone eating in the cafeteria stopped eating and just watched as the squad leader plunged into the soup pot, his body and head covered in vegetable leaves.
I picked up the soup, but suddenly I couldn't bring myself to eat it. The scene looked a bit disgusting, so I decided not to eat it.
Even those who had just entered turned away and vowed never to drink soup again.
Lin Chuchu heard the shouts and curses behind her, and the corners of her lips curled up slightly.
The class monitor thought he was just unlucky and had lost face. The canteen was going to lose money, which he couldn't afford, so he had to work to pay off the debt.
Whenever I serve food to others in the cafeteria, I cover myself up completely, afraid of being recognized.
Unfortunately, his story had already spread throughout the class, and some people went to the cafeteria specifically to see him.
These past two days, Lin Chuchu has had to go home by herself because Mu Chen is away on a business trip.
Lin Chuchu is always the one who goes on business trips, and today it's Mu Chen's turn, so it feels a little strange.
On the day Mu Chen returned, Lin Chuchu went to pick him up and saw Mu Chen walking out with a girl, who was Mu Chen's teacher's daughter.
The girl was talking to Lin Chuchu with a smile when she was suddenly bumped and her whole body tilted towards Mu Chen.
She thought Mu Chen would pick her up, but instead she fell to the ground.
She angrily got up, feeling that everyone around her was laughing at her.
Just as he opened his mouth to question her, he suddenly saw Mu Chen running towards Lin Chuchu with bright eyes.
The girl looked ashamed and indignant, and stomped her feet in anger.
Mu Chen didn't see the girl being knocked down, but Lin Chuchu, who was facing her, saw it all clearly.
"Chuchu, what brings you here? It's crowded here, did you get jostled?"
Lin Chuchu shook her head, saying that the train journey these past few days must have been tiring. "Let's go eat first."
Lin Chuchu saw the girl approaching and said, "Thank you so much for taking care of my boyfriend along the way. You should go home now; your family must be waiting for you."
Lin Chuchu's words were friendly, but the girl only felt that they contained a warning.
Her eyes reddened. "Sister-in-law, I'm sorry. I didn't expect the school to send us on this business trip together."
Anyone can be annoying.
She waited for Lin Chuchu's expression to change.
The onlookers, their eyes gleaming with gossip, wondered if this person was a mistress who was flirting with someone else's partner right in front of them.
My goodness, girls these days are so bold.
The girl never expected that a few words would shatter her good impression of him, yet she was still smugly pleased with herself.
Lin Chuchu shook her head indifferently, "After all, you are comrades-in-arms at work, and it's not just the two of you, so of course I won't be stingy."
They distanced themselves from any relationship between the two.
Lin Chuchu and Mu Chen walked out of the train station hand in hand.
The girl was left stomping her feet in anger.
Mu Chen said in a low voice, "I'm really sorry, the person who was with us got off halfway. I didn't expect her to be so shameless."
Mu Chen's face was dark. He had already refused all the requests he could, but since the girl hadn't said it explicitly, he couldn't say anything unpleasant that would embarrass her.
Lin Chuchu shook her head. "It's alright, I don't blame you."
It's just that some people don't realize it.
A heavy rain started falling in the capital, just as Lin Chuchu was on her way to a research base in the nearby mountains.
In the pouring rain, the driver could barely see the road. Lin Chuchu carefully gripped the door handle, afraid of being thrown out.
Beside her was the bodyguard who had come with her, who heard the driver mutter a curse under his breath.
"Seriously, why is it raining so heavily in spring? There are many mountains here, I hope it doesn't trigger a mudslide."
There are several villages at the foot of the mountain. If a mudslide is triggered, the people there will be in big trouble.
Lin Chuchu's heart skipped a beat; at this moment, she was most afraid of someone jinxing her.
Lin Chuchu was afraid, and her eyes kept fixed on the mountain in front of her.
Lin Chuchu seemed to sense that the big trees on the mountain were moving.
"Stop the car! Stop the car now!"
The driver instinctively stepped on the brakes.
His heart pounded in his chest. "Comrade Lin, why did you shout for the car to stop?"
Lin Chuchu stared ahead in horror. "Look, the mountain in front of us is moving!"
The two looked over, and they could indeed clearly see the mountain moving; to be precise,
"Could there really be a mudslide?"
The driver wanted to slap himself a few times, yelling, "Why did you have to say something like 'mudslide'?"
"What should we do? Should we go back to look for them now?"
"It's too late," Lin Chuchu bit her lip. "Driver, could you go to the nearby military base and ask someone to give us directions? Where is the village?"
They still have time, yes, they definitely have time.
Knowing that time was of the essence, the driver immediately agreed.
Lin Chuchu and her guards ran towards the village in the heavy rain.
