Chapter 58 The Twins Were Almost Switched

Upon seeing Lin Chuchu wake up, Mu Chen's eyes lit up. "Chuchu, you're awake. Does your body hurt? Do you want to eat something? Mom made you some chicken soup, it's warming up in a thermos."

They only had one insulated lunchbox, which his mother used to pack lunches for Chuchu.

Lin Chuchu shook her head. "I'm not hungry. I'll wait and see the baby."

Mu Chen pushed the crib next to Lin Chuchu and picked up the two children.

"Chuchu, the thinner one is the older brother, Mom says he looks like you. The chubby one is the younger brother, he looks like me. I don't see that at all."

Mu Chen muttered something under his breath.

Looking at the two little ones, Lin Chuchu felt a surge of maternal love.

The two little ones were sleeping soundly, their little mouths pouting, as if they were dreaming of eating something delicious.

Mu Chen held Lin Chuchu in his arms, cuddling the child, enjoying this heartwarming moment.

But someone shattered this warm feeling, "Hey girl, did you have a boy or a girl? You're amazing, you had twins!"

Mu Chen said, "Two boys."

He just said they are an older brother and a younger brother, so asking again now is definitely just him trying to start a conversation.

The woman's eyes were full of envy. "Young lady, you're so lucky to have given birth to two sons at once. No wonder your boyfriend spoils you so much. Your mother-in-law won't dare to say anything to you anymore."

The chattering noise annoyed Mu Chen, and just then, the baby in her arms started crying again.

Lin Chuchu didn't want to talk, so Mu Chen brought over a lunchbox. "Chuchu, have some chicken soup. Drink it before you go to sleep."

Although Lin Chuchu didn't have much of an appetite, she still drank the chicken soup.

Lin Chuchu only drank half a bowl; Mu Chen drank the rest.

The woman in the room was muttering something under her breath, seemingly cursing.

The two children are easy to take care of and don't cry much. If their diapers are wet, they will make a couple of noises to let Mu Chen know it's time to change them.

Chu Chu hadn't produced any milk yet, so Mu Chen fed the baby with formula.

"Your family is really well-off. Unlike us, we're lucky if we can even afford to feed our child some rice porridge."

Mu Chen and Lin Chuchu ignored her sarcastic remarks.

The other party just wants some inspirational quotes, but why should they?

Lin Chuchu slept soundly that night, but was woken up early the next morning by a commotion.

"What are you doing, comrade? I just want to see your child."

Mu Chen's face darkened.

"Look at my child. Don't you have children of your own? Or are you trying to steal my child?"

The woman took two steps back guiltily, afraid that someone would notice something was wrong. "No, don't talk nonsense."

Lin Chuchu's heart skipped a beat, and she sat up, holding the two children protectively in her arms.

He looked at the woman warily.

The woman was holding her daughter, who was naked, and holding a blanket in her other hand.

"You're talking nonsense. I didn't do it. You, a grown man, bullied my mother and me."

Mu Chen was furious and flung open the hospital door. "Help! She's a human trafficker! She's trying to steal my child!"

This floor is full of new mothers who have just given birth. Upon hearing this, they immediately hugged their babies and looked around warily.

Some people even went to the ward door, wanting to see what was going on.

Upon hearing that there were human traffickers, the nurses and security guards quickly ran over.

Where are the human traffickers?

Mu Chen pointed in the direction of the woman, "That's her. If I hadn't been on guard, she would have taken the child away. Comrade, there's a police station across the street. Please call the police."

Upon hearing the words "police station," the woman's legs went weak. "I didn't. They said they couldn't afford to raise two boys and wanted to trade my daughter for their son."

The woman just wants a son to support them in their old age, since they've already had four daughters.

Mu Chen sneered, "Nonsense. Everyone can see your family's financial situation at a glance. If I can't afford to raise my son, do you think you can? Even if my husband and I wanted to give our child away, we would give him to someone with better conditions. Why would we choose your family?"

"It's what you said, boohoo, you denied it after saying it last night. Fine, I won't change it, I'm leaving, you can't arrest me."

Realizing her scheme had been exposed, the woman panicked and immediately tried to leave.

How could Mu Chen let her leave like that? He and the family members next to him stopped her and took her to the police station.

Fortunately, Mu's mother arrived at this time. When Mu Chen went out, she went into the ward to stay with Lin Chuchu and the two children.

"There are all kinds of people out there. They can't have a son of their own, so they want to steal someone else's son? What are they thinking?"

Mu's mother couldn't understand these people at all. Whether it was a son or a daughter, they were all flesh and blood of their own flesh and blood. How could they bear to give their children away?

"I've also heard that in some rural areas, when a daughter is born, she's sent up into the mountains to be eaten by wolves. Sigh, there are all sorts of heartless parents out there."

Lin Chuchu was so frightened early in the morning that she looked exhausted.

"Mom, let's get discharged. I want to go home."

Fortunately, Mu Chen came back. If it weren't for her, would she and Mu's mother have been able to keep an eye on the child?

"Well... the doctor said you can't be discharged until at least tomorrow, and we'll go home first thing tomorrow morning."

Lin Chuchu nodded.

Mu Chen returned quickly. The woman wasn't a human trafficker; she just wanted to exchange her son for another one.

When the woman's husband and mother-in-law arrived and learned what had happened, they immediately started a fight right there in the police station.

The woman was beaten black and blue; it was pitiful, especially since she was still in her postpartum period.

But no matter how pitiful they are, they can't be exchanged for someone else's child.

Mother Mu told her about Lin Chuchu's desire to be discharged from the hospital.

Mu Chen agreed; he and his mother thought the same thing—to be discharged tomorrow.

Lin Chuchu often wakes up in the middle of the night, only feeling at ease when she touches the child.
