Lin Chuchu suddenly opened her eyes, her gaze fixed on the soldier.
"...Phew, he's not dead. He deliberately missed."
Lin Chuchu's tense heart relaxed instantly, and in that instant, she felt her hands were covered in cold sweat.
The others were the same; their breathing became lighter.
"...A woman was kneeling on the ground, her hands clasped together, muttering something."
After speaking, he consciously stopped talking and returned to silence.
Lin Chuchu pricked up her ears and listened carefully. The woman's words were intermittent and seemed very disordered, and there were no special prayers.
When she read out the two names, Lin Chuchu's eyes lit up; she finally knew what kind of faith the person opposite her belonged to.
Lin Chuchu found an introductory book about the church in her spatial storage, a book commonly used by its members.
By analyzing the recent radio broadcast, she finally understood what the other person meant...
Before she could even feel happy, she suddenly heard someone speaking, and she instinctively began to analyze the situation.
Number 1068 quickly instructed them to take action and bring the drugs inside.
Lin Chu, pale-faced, grabbed the captain's hand and repeated the words that had just been translated.
The captain's expression changed. 1068 was the border number. There weren't many people there now. If they managed to smuggle drugs into China, they might actually succeed.
"Captain, I'm going to call the radio station."
"good."
Seeing that everything was arranged, Lin Chuchu listened attentively, afraid of missing anything.
The soldier jumped out of the truck, and a short while later, he returned.
"Captain, something bad has happened! The radio is damaged, we can't send anything!"
The captain's expression changed several times. "You stay here and fix the radio. We'll rush over there. Have two squads of soldiers come with me."
"Yes, Captain!"
After giving his instructions, the captain told the team members to switch places with the driver. He then said to Lin Chuchu with a serious expression, "Comrade Lin, you stay... never mind, you come with me. I'm afraid that if a fight breaks out, the people on the other side might see you and do something bad to you."
Although Lin Chuchu was scared, she nodded; she couldn't hold them back.
He then gave Lin Chuchu a gun, saying, "Hide the gun well. If anyone approaches you maliciously, shoot them directly. Your life is the priority."
"Yes, Captain."
It was Lin Chuchu's first time handling a gun. The pistol only had a few bullets and was meant to be used to save her life in a critical moment. The captain taught her to put the safety off and to keep it close to her body.
It's very close to 1068 here. The trucks are going very fast, and the soldiers on the trucks are being bounced around.
Lin Chuchu gritted her teeth and tried her best to steady herself.
The truck soon stopped, and the captain instructed one of his men to stay in the truck to protect Lin Chuchu while he led his men directly into the forest.
He was in no mood to talk because he had already heard the gunfire outside; the two sides had already clashed.
The members of the special operations team were usually quiet and didn't know what to say. Lin Chuchu looked tense and didn't want to speak either.
The two lay there on the truck, speechless.
Just then, the soldier's ears twitched. "Someone's coming!"
Lin Chuchu's expression tightened, and she subconsciously became tense.
The soldier glanced ahead furtively, thinking, "They're our men."
With each tightening and loosening, Lin Chuchu's hands trembled.
"Comrade, your captain sent me to pick you up and move you to another place. This place has been exposed. Come with me quickly."
The newcomer was a young soldier, covered in blood; it was unclear whether he was injured.
"Okay, I understand."
The soldiers on the vehicle quickly jumped off and turned to help Lin Chuchu off.
Just as Lin Chuchu was about to jump down, she suddenly saw the soldier from before raise his right hand, holding a pistol, which was pointed directly at the special forces soldier's head.
Lin Chuchu was startled, but reacted quickly, raising the pistol in her hand and firing a shot into his head.
The special operations team soldiers reacted the moment Lin Chuchu raised her pistol, immediately raising their guns and turning around.
As a result, he saw the corpse slowly falling down.
There was also a red, bloody hole on his forehead.
Once the soldier confirmed the man was dead, he turned around and saw Lin Chuchu still holding her gun, her face pale and her whole body trembling.
"Comrade Lin... Comrade Lin..."
Lin Chuchu suddenly turned the pistol towards him.
His eyes were filled with panic.
The soldier lowered his gun and placed his hands at his sides.
"Comrade Lin, everything's alright now. Put down the gun, and let's leave, okay?"
He was also worried that Lin Chuchu's gun might accidentally discharge.
Lin Chuchu rolled her eyes and was about to fall over.
Fortunately, a soldier caught him.
Lin Chuchu was so frightened that she fainted.
The soldier sighed, picked the man up, and ran towards a more secluded spot not far away.
The image of the dead man reappeared before Lin Chuchu's eyes. His eyes were pale and bluish-white, and he had a bloody hole in his forehead. His mouth was open, spitting blood, and he kept asking her, "Why did you kill me? You are a murderer, a murderer."
Lin Chuchu sat up with a scream, panting heavily, her eyes filled with terror.
"I didn't mean to... I didn't mean to."
Lin Chuchu curled up, hugging her knees, and muttered to herself.
Click, the doorknob opened, and the captain walked in carrying a plate of grapes.
Seeing her covered in sweat, a pang of heartache flashed in his eyes.
"Comrade Lin..."
Lin Chuchu raised her eyes in confusion. The moment she saw a familiar face, she almost rushed over and hugged the person, but she couldn't. She forcibly restrained herself.
She didn't say anything, just stared blankly at her toes.
"Comrade Lin, I know this is hard for you to accept, but he is a bad person, a villain. Think about it, if drugs flow into the country, how many people and families will be torn apart?"
