Chapter 89 He brought this upon himself.

The minister standing to the side frowned. What was wrong with Lao Xu? Did he want to find errors in Lin Chuchu's translated manuscript?

With his limited English skills, he could barely translate a single sentence. Doesn't he know that Lin Chuchu's translations are 99% accurate?

Even that 1% was caused by uncertainty in the terminology.

The minister couldn't understand how Lao Xu could be so confident.

He gave Lao Xu a second look; this man was not up to the task.

He nodded to the person next to him, "Put the translation back in the office, be careful not to get it dirty."

"Yes, Minister."

After saying that, he looked at Lin Chuchu with a smile again, "Comrade Lin, you've worked hard these past two days. Go have a meal first, and I'll have someone take you to Old Song's place later."

Lin Chuchu smiled and thanked her.

Everyone was busy, except for the minister who took Lin Chuchu and her bodyguard to dinner.

Lin Chuchu ate absentmindedly, still thinking about how to put a bad word about Xu's father in front of the minister.

"Minister, who was that researcher who was just reviewing my manuscript? Is his English very good? No one can guarantee that a manuscript is 100% correct, so why don't you let him take a look?"

The minister's breath hitched. "Him? His English is so-so."

His voice carried a hint of disdain.

"You don't need to take his words to heart. If they were as good as you, I would have had them translate it themselves."

Otherwise, why bother transferring them from outside?

Lin Chuchu looked surprised and said, "I thought you researchers were very meticulous. I didn't expect there to be such people in the research institute. You just blurt things out without being 100% sure."

Lin Chuchu said with emotion.

The minister felt awkward and didn't respond to the topic.

Just as Lin Chuchu was about to take her leave after she had almost finished eating, a guard suddenly ran in and searched the cafeteria for a while.

His eyes lit up when he saw the minister and Lin Chuchu.

"Minister, something terrible has happened! Comrade Lin cannot leave for the time being, and Researcher Xu..."

The minister's face darkened, and he slammed his hand on the table. "What's wrong with Lao Xu? Did you really find something wrong? Do you have any evidence?"

The minister only feels embarrassed and won't let Lin Chuchu leave? Does he really think he's the leader?

Seeing the guard sweating profusely with anxiety, Lin Chuchu sensed something was wrong and quickly stopped the minister from continuing his outburst, speaking gently and kindly.

"Comrade, what can I do for you, Researcher Xu? It's quite urgent over there, and I need to get there as soon as possible."

The guard swallowed hard before awkwardly saying, "No, Researcher Xu didn't find any mistakes. He accidentally caused trouble. He spilled coffee on the translation and ruined several pages."

The group gasped in shock. Even Lin Chuchu found it hard to believe. Was the other party really that stupid?

At this moment, Mr. Xu was almost in tears, unable to lift his head after being reprimanded by his superior.

He was just feeling resentful and in a bad mood, plus he had been staying up late for several nights, so he thought he would drink some coffee to perk himself up.

Coffee has only recently become popular in China, and it's quite expensive. This coffee was bought when he received his prize money last time.

There were only a few bags left, and I couldn't bear to drink them.

I'm in a really bad mood today, so I thought I'd have a drink.

This is coffee, and very few people in the entire office get to drink it.

When he returned with the coffee, he felt that everyone was looking at him with envy.

Back in his office, he was still unwilling to give up. He took out the manuscript that Lin Chuchu had translated and continued to look at it, hoping that he might actually be able to find the error.

Holding documents in one hand and coffee in the other gave him the illusion of being a leader.

In my distraction, I forgot the rule that you can't drink coffee while working.

When I stood up, I accidentally knocked over my coffee. I just watched helplessly as the coffee spilled onto the manuscript, ruining several pages.

Just as he was at a loss, his officemate returned and immediately saw the destroyed manuscript.

"Old Xu, what are you doing?"

"How could you destroy the manuscript that Comrade Lin worked so hard to translate over two days?"

Old Xu was so frightened that he trembled and quickly stepped forward to cover his colleague's mouth.

"Keep your voice down, I...I didn't mean to, really, I just memorized it all, I'll write it down right now."

"A dictation? You usually struggle to memorize things, and you can recite them from memory in a short time?"

"Old Xu, you can explain this to the minister yourself later."

His colleagues didn't care about him; they were genuinely heartbroken over the manuscripts.

He carefully picked up the manuscript and wiped it with a towel and paper.

After his efforts to salvage the situation, only a dozen or so sheets were destroyed.

The argument between the two attracted their direct supervisor, who was so angry that he wanted to beat Lao Xu up.

This matter is too big, and we need Lin Chuchu's help, so we immediately sent guards to find the minister and Lin Chuchu.

When Lin Chuchu learned what had happened, she was speechless for a moment, then just laughed.

She hadn't even done anything yet, and the other person had already started courting disaster.

The two rushed to the office. Lin Chuchu was looking through the documents when the minister suddenly darted to Old Xu.

He kicked him hard in the butt. "Old Xu, you're a veteran, how could you make such a basic mistake? I'll report this truthfully and wait for the punishment from above."

Old Xu had been feeling uneasy, and upon hearing this, his vision went black.

"Minister, I didn't mean to. I can write the translation right now. Please give me another chance?"

He is currently competing for a leadership position and cannot afford to be criticized.
