Chapter 199 Not even sparing people from their own country

Lin Chuchu moved quickly; she could put everything into her space the instant it came into contact with her.

Those with glass panels are sent into the space along with the glass panels.

The people here seem to have a special fondness for museums, because while the surrounding buildings are damaged, the museum itself remains unscathed.

Team Leader Qin and Xiao Lu stayed by her side at all times, while the others, armed, surveyed the surroundings.

"Two of you go and check if there's a basement."

Team Leader Qin spoke in a low voice to his team members.

"Yes, Captain."

Lin Chuchu ignored everyone else and busied herself with her own things.

Just as we were finishing up the first floor, someone suddenly jumped down from upstairs.

They were chattering away, as if questioning why they had come here.

No one wanted to listen to his nonsense, and they were afraid of attracting other enemies.

A bullet pierced the man's forehead, and he fell to the ground.

Lin Chuchu glanced at it casually; she was no longer afraid of such a scene.

The body was dragged to a corner, and the group went up to the second floor, where Lin Chuchu continued to collect the exhibits.

After collecting everything, the team members found a basement.

Soon, the museum was empty, and Lin Chuchu's space was filled with hundreds of cultural relics, including 268 Chinese artifacts.

"It's almost dawn. Let's find a place to rest for a bit and then find some transportation nearby tomorrow. Our motorcycles are too conspicuous."

Team Leader Qin asked Lin Chuchu a question, and Lin Chuchu nodded, indicating that she would listen to him.

"You can handle these things yourself; there's no need to ask me. After all, I don't have your expertise."

After leaving the museum, the group arrived at a partially collapsed ruin. Such a place was inconspicuous and a perfect hiding spot.

However, as soon as one soldier went inside, he saw more than a dozen pairs of eyes staring at him in terror.

This was a group of children, who were huddled together in fear, protected by two people who looked like teachers.

The children were all very young, only five or six years old. Some of them covered their mouths in fear, tears streaming down their faces.

"Spare us, please spare these children, they are still so young."

A teacher said this in a trembling voice.

The soldier retreated silently.

Team Leader Qin also heard the sounds from inside. "Is someone inside?"

The soldier nodded. "Yes, there are more than ten children inside."

Being in the heart of the war and without military protection, it's hard to imagine how these children survived.

Everyone was in a bad mood. Although they disliked Japan, its army, and its people, the children were innocent, and seeing those thin and weak children made them feel uncomfortable as well.

Although Lin Chuchu's expression was not good, she was not foolish enough to be a saint. They were already deep in enemy territory, and it was not easy for them to survive, let alone care about others.

Lin Chuchu thought for a moment, then took out some bottled mineral water, as well as some steamed buns and bread from her spatial storage.

The bottled water and bread were specially provided by the higher-ups and were not labeled, so taking them out wouldn't cause any trouble.

Qin's team put their belongings into the entrance of the collapsed house ruins.

The group turned and left. It was almost dawn, and they needed to hurry and find a place to rest.

They walked a long way before finding a suitable place.

Underneath a section of a bombed-out bridge.

Lin Chuchu took out her sleeping bag, some food, and water.

After everyone finished eating, one group stayed behind to rest, while the others set off again to find suitable transportation in the surrounding area.

It was a bit cold, and even though Lin Chuchu had put a hot water bottle in her sleeping bag, she still felt cold.

Lin Chuchu listened to the military doctor and took some medicine to prevent colds. She probably fell asleep quickly because the medicine was working.

That night was so exhausting that even the soldiers, with their physical strength, couldn't handle it, let alone Lin Chuchu.

The fighting was more frequent during the day, with gunfire everywhere. Most of the fighting was between the Japanese army and the gangsters, and it was the civilians who suffered.

The wealthy families in the area have already moved away, but Japan is only so big, and battles have broken out in other places, so where can they hide?

Lin Chuchu slept soundly, and the sounds of gunfire outside did not wake her.

Lin Chuchu slept until the afternoon before finally waking up. When she did, everyone had already started cooking.

"Sister Chuchu, you're awake. Go wash your face and hands first."

Xiao Lu said with a smile not far from Lin Chuchu.

Lin Chuchu nodded in agreement and took out her toiletries from her spatial storage.

The food was taken out of Lin Chuchu's space earlier, and it only needed to be heated up.

After finishing their meal, it was still a while before dark, so they decided to wait until night to make their move.

The vehicle was brought back, similar to a motorcycle, along with some clothes, all local attire. Their camouflage uniforms were too conspicuous, so they still needed to disguise themselves.

Three people present spoke English; the rest spoke other languages. They avoided contact with people if possible.

Soon it got dark, and everyone discovered that the situation that night was even worse than the day before.

"Don't these guys get tired? They're fighting day and night."

A soldier muttered something as he shot and killed a Japanese enemy soldier who rushed to the door.

As expected of a fighting nation, they don't even spare their own people. They watched helplessly as two civilians were shot dead by their own soldiers, and the woman was dragged into an alley where she soon screamed in agony.

Lin Chuchu closed her eyes. How many people in China died under their guns back then?

They are indeed a disgusting bunch; the inherent flaws of their nation are evident.
