Chapter 12 Mission

A month passed in the blink of an eye, and Lin Chuchu received a package from Liu Rong. The package was large, but not too heavy.

Besides a remittance slip for 298 yuan, the rest of the contents were mushrooms and dried meat.

The letter said that the dried meat was prepared by Mu Chen. Mu Chen went back, Wang Zhaodi was arrested, and all the human traffickers were also caught.

The remaining mushrooms were picked by him, and some he traded for, which he then gave to Lin Chuchu to make mushroom sauce.

The letter was long, rambling on and on, telling Lin Chuchu to take good care of herself and to let him know if she needed anything, and he would try to help her.

Lin Chuchu felt very lucky to have met Liu Rong and Mu Chen, who took care of her in every way.

It's not as cold here as in Heilongjiang Province, and there's nowhere to dry the mushrooms, so we need to make mushroom sauce as soon as possible.

I bought some meat and various seasonings.

Then they started making the mushroom sauce.

No one in the dormitory slept that day because it was so fragrant.

Lin Chuchu sent out a lot of mushroom sauce, and the room finally became quiet. At this time, food was scarce, and those who came to exchange for mushroom sauce were all people she was on good terms with, and each of them brought something in exchange.

Some contained eggs, some contained vegetables, and others contained canned fruit and canned beef.

I don't usually recognize all the people, but wow, this time I recognized them all.

Lin Chuchu became famous for making mushroom sauce, and everyone who sees her greets her with a smile.

Lin Chuchu received a month's salary, not much, only 32 yuan, much less than when she worked as a translator, but this was a formal job, and she was contributing to the country's cause.

Lin Chuchu's translation work was fast and accurate; what used to be half a day's work was equivalent to two or three days' work for others.

After translating all day, her speed was simply unmatched. The only problem was that this girl refused to work overtime and would rush out to eat as soon as it was time to eat.

As a result, everyone else also became more enthusiastic about eating.

When there's an extra portion of food, Lin Chuchu will put the extra steamed bun or rice/cornbread into her spatial storage.

Waste is shameful, and she couldn't bear to waste food. Besides, the cafeteria didn't provide meals during holidays, so she could just heat up the steamed buns and eat them.

That day, Lin Chuchu entered the cafeteria and was stunned by the scene in front of her.

The whole canteen smelled of meat, and Old Song followed behind me with a chuckle.

He deliberately didn't tell Lin Chuchu that there was meat today.

"What are you standing there for? The meat will be gone in a minute."

Coming to her senses, Lin Chuchu walked towards the food serving window, while Sister Wang went to find a seat.

The two of them took turns getting food from each other each day. Later, Lin Chuchu got food more often because the cafeteria lady gave her more food.

Soon it was Lin Chuchu's turn, and she handed over two lunch boxes.

When the cafeteria lady saw it was her, she packed her a little extra.

"Thank you, Auntie."

Lin Chuchu smiled and thanked her.

Behind him was Old Song, who was speechless when he saw the lunchbox missing a few pieces of meat.

We're all human, so why is there such a big difference?

The meat dish is braised pork belly with sauerkraut, and the other dish is stir-fried shredded potatoes.

The meat was a bit fatty, but it was already quite good for people like them who rarely eat oily food.

Seeing that Sister Wang hadn't eaten enough sorghum rice, Lin Chuchu took out a steamed bun wrapped in oil paper from her pocket.

"Sister, this is what I brought this morning. It's been kept warm on the stove. If you don't mind, you can have it."

Sister Wang knew that she had a small appetite, so Lin Chuchu saved up some food for her. How could she complain about it?

After eating and drinking their fill, the two went to wash the lunchboxes.

Lin Chuchu heard from Sister Wang that the pig was hunted by the soldiers in the mountains, and only their research institute's canteen got a whole one.

Research is very mentally taxing, so it's essential to brush up on your knowledge.

Old Song, who had been treated differently on several occasions, even wanted to give his lunchbox to Lin Chuchu so that she could get his food for him; the discrimination was too obvious.

Old Song returned to the translation department with a sigh, looking like he hadn't eaten enough. Could it be that the cafeteria had secretly reduced the portions?

Seeing Lin Chuchu working with her head down, he nodded to himself, thinking that as long as she was working hard, that was fine.

He likes hardworking people, and he also likes people with real talent and practical skills.

Lin Chuchu was engrossed in translating when there was a knock on the door. Lin Chuchu was curious; they only knocked when there was something important.

The person outside the door was the leader, accompanied by a bodyguard.

"Comrade Xiao Chu, I need your help with something. Do you speak Russian? Our brother unit's translator has been mistaken for an enemy spy and almost managed to send something out."

"Could you help us translate these documents? We need them in a week, and there's a lot of stuff. Thank you for your help."

Enemy agents? How well hidden could such enemy agents be? They even managed to evade the last round of investigations.

Lin Chuchu nodded solemnly, "Please rest assured, Commander, I will definitely complete the mission."

Lin Chuchu didn't waste any time and took the box from the guard into the office.

The items were specially categorized, totaling 60 portions, with varying quantities.

60, that's more than eight documents to translate a day.

Lin Chuchu didn't rush to translate; instead, she reclassified the items.

It's afternoon now, and even if she works overtime tonight, the number of translations she can make is limited, so she might as well finish the most difficult one.

Seeing Lin Chuchu engrossed in her work, the leader's voice trembled with excitement.

"Comrade Lin, it's up to you now."

After saying that, he turned his gaze to Sister Wang, "Chuchu will have a very tough few days ahead, so please take care of her logistical needs."

"Yes, sir."

The translation department was unusually quiet today; no one dared to speak loudly.

Although Lin Chuchu knows Russian, she has never formally translated anything.

Fortunately, there is space to help.

To save time, Lin Chuchu had the space generate a translation, which she then copied directly.
