Chapter 34 Rescue

They knew that Liu Rong and Mu Chen had a good relationship. If it weren't for Mu Chen, their son might have been imprisoned in the countryside and never be able to leave.

When they arrived, the family had already prepared a lot of food. The aunt held Lin Chuchu's hand and spoke to her affectionately.

Mu Chen was playing chess with Uncle Liu. They had both won and lost, and both were very good at chess.

Liu Rong kept interrupting, and then his father scolded him.

Their family atmosphere was very good. The uncle and aunt were not the kind of old-fashioned people, and they did not object even when Liu Rong showed that he wanted to go into business.

While they were chatting after dinner, Lin Chuchu suddenly heard someone calling for help.

At first, Lin Chuchu thought she had misheard, until Mu Chen asked.

"Did you hear anything?"

The cries for help continued, but the breathing was noticeably weaker.

The uncle and aunt's expressions changed. "Oh no, it's Uncle Zhao from next door."

The two hurriedly got up and ran outside.

Mu Chen jumped through the gate and opened it from the inside.

Lin Chuchu immediately saw a gray-haired man lying on the ground, struggling and in pain.

Lin Chuchu ran towards the old man.

The room was deserted and in a mess, with cups, stools, and tables all overturned on the floor.

Mu Chen dared not move him carelessly, unsure if the man's internal organs were injured.

"Liu Rong, hurry up and find a car, let's take him to the hospital."

Lin Chuchu poured him a glass of water and fed him a couple of sips.

The old man's lips moved, but his breath was barely a whisper.

"Thanks……"

On the way to the hospital, Lin Chuchu learned about the old man's condition.

The old man had only been back for less than six months when, upon his release, his children severed ties with him and the whole family fled abroad.

Now only the elderly are left at home, with no one to take care of them, and only these neighbors occasionally bring them some food.

Mu Chen carried him around busily to get him checked out, while Liu Rong handled the hospital admission procedures.

Lin Chuchu went to buy food and supplies for her hospital stay.

Fortunately, the elderly person only twisted their ankle and will recover after some rest.

After being settled into a hospital room, the old man was so excited that he didn't know what to say.

He held Uncle Liu's hand and kept thanking him.

"Thank you so much. If it weren't for you, I would definitely be dead now."

Uncle Liu shook his head. "Uncle Zhao, you're too kind. We're neighbors, it's only right that we help each other."

Uncle Liu then introduced Mu Chen and Lin Chuchu to him, saying, "They are visiting my home. If it weren't for them, we wouldn't have known that something had happened to you."

He was still covered in a cold sweat. If he and his wife hadn't noticed, Old Zhao would have died in the room, and they would have felt guilty for the rest of their lives.

The old man's eyes were red-rimmed, filled with gratitude.

Uncle Liu said he would stay and take care of them, so Mu Chen and Lin Chuchu went home first.

Two days later, Lin Chuchu, worried about the old man, took the two of them to the hospital with some fruit.

Upon reaching the ward door, they saw two men in military uniforms guarding the entrance. The men immediately stopped the two individuals.
