Chapter 230 Whale Fall

We can't cook now, so the fish we catch are either put into our spatial dimension or released back into the wild.

The people were just bored and looking for something to do.

At night, small lamps were lit on the boat. Perhaps because she had slept too much during the day, Lin Chuchu couldn't fall asleep.

For some reason, there were mosquitoes tonight.

She really couldn't understand why there were mosquitoes at sea, how they survived, or what they ate.

Well, after being bitten several times by their blood, Lin Chuchu couldn't help but take out a mosquito net from her space. She set up two stools on either side of the small boat and let the mosquito net hang down to cover the entire boat before she felt a little better.

The others' eyes lit up. "Does Comrade Lin have mosquito nets in his space? We'd like some too."

Lin Chuchu nodded, and while taking out a mosquito net and a stool from her spatial storage, she complained.

"I thought you guys weren't afraid of mosquitoes. How did you manage to stay so still? Didn't you even want to scratch them?"

"Hehe, we're ticklish too, but we have a high tolerance for it, so we just bear it."

The soldiers said with a smile.

Lin Chuchu gave him a thumbs up.

All the small boats were covered with mosquito nets, and after the lights were turned off, I felt a little better.

A large bump appeared where I was bitten on my arm. I applied toothpaste, and the cool, refreshing feeling made it feel better.

After all that commotion, it was almost midnight. Lin Chuchu closed her eyes and forced herself to sleep.

At four in the morning, before it was fully light, Lin Chuchu was shaken awake. As soon as she opened her eyes, she noticed that the sea was fogged up.

Just as he was about to ask something, Xiao Lu suddenly stopped him.

"Sister Chuchu, take out your weapon."

His voice was deep and hoarse, carrying a serious tone.

Lin Chuchu's heart skipped a beat, and she immediately took out the weapons from her spatial storage: pistols, sniper rifles, and machine guns.

There are still quite a few bullets left.

The weapons were distributed to everyone.

Xiao Lu said in a low voice again.

"Rocket launcher!"

Lin Chuchu took out all her belongings and tried to shrink herself inside the boat.

"What's going on? Have we been discovered?"

Xiao Lu shook his head and pointed in a direction, indicating that Lin Chuchu should look for herself.

All around was fog, a vast expanse of white, with visibility limited to about ten meters. Their boats were now linked together, surrounding Lin Chuchu's boat in the middle.

It was quiet around, with no sign of any boats. Lin Chuchu looked in that direction.

Then they saw a tall figure, hidden in the white mist, appearing and disappearing intermittently.

The figure was grayish-black, very tall, and about the same size as the ship that brought them there.

However, the shape of the shadowy figure did not resemble a boat, and it was unclear what it was.

Lin Chuchu was a little nervous, her heart was pounding, and many thoughts were running through her mind.

Are they from the Russian army? What if they're captured? Will she be able to go home? If the enemy discovers something amiss, will the Russians threaten China?

My mind was in turmoil, and I didn't hear Captain Qin's order to retreat ten meters.

We have to do it quietly, otherwise we'll be in big trouble if we get caught.

The ships slowly retreated, their speed was slow, and the other ship's speed was not fast either.

One side retreats while the other moves forward, maintaining roughly the same distance.

Except for Lin Chuchu, everyone else held their guns and waited quietly, ready to fire as soon as the other party appeared.

After a while, the boat stopped because the dark figure didn't seem to be coming from the same direction as them.

No one spoke; everyone remained in the same position.

Suddenly, something slowly emerged from the white mist ahead. It was grayish-black, extremely tall, and had some terrifying cracks on its skin. When it was fully revealed, everyone gasped in shock—it was a whale.

The whale remained motionless. Although it was in the sea, its skin looked as if it hadn't been in the water for a long time, covered in cracks and dryness.

The whale was huge, almost as big as a large ship.

The whale seemed to float on the surface of the sea, showing no intention of speeding up when it saw people.

Everyone breathed a sigh of relief when they learned that the soldiers were not from Russia.

"Captain, what should we do? Should we shoot?"

Such a big fish, if we attack them, we won't even be able to stop their ships. It's better to strike first.

Before Captain Qin could speak, Lin Chuchu suddenly realized something and exclaimed in terror, "No, we can't shoot! Retreat! We have to retreat quickly!"

Unsure why Lin Chuchu suddenly seemed so terrified, Captain Qin decided to listen to her and have everyone move the boat back, away from the whale.

Lin Chuchu sat limply on the bed after the whale disappeared into the mist again.

"Sister Chuchu, what's wrong?"

Xiao Lu asked curiously.

Lin Chuchu gulped down several mouthfuls of water to calm herself down before speaking slowly.

"That's a dead whale. If you encounter a whale like that at sea, you should stay far away."

These words only fueled everyone's curiosity.

"Comrade Lin, shouldn't a living whale be more terrifying? Why be afraid of a dead whale?"

Someone asked curiously.

"When a whale dies, the flesh inside its body decomposes more easily than the skin, forming gas that cannot be expelled through the skin and remains inside the whale's stomach."

"As the gas accumulates, the whale carcass will expand like a balloon, and when it reaches a certain point, it will explode. The power of the explosion is no less than that of a cannonball."

Lin Chuchu swallowed hard. The whale's belly had cracked, and it might explode at any moment.

If a bullet were fired at this moment, it might explode.
