Chapter 19 Family
Seeing Ye Ran's slight discomfort, Lu Yi smiled and spoke first: "Ranran, what are you doing here?"
Ye Ran then began to explain: "I was passing by here on my way home when I heard Dr. Ran's voice. She sounded very ill, so I came in to take a look."
Seeing Lu Yi's piercing gaze, Ye Ran felt a little embarrassed and looked away. "By the way, why didn't you go to work and came here instead?"
Lu Yi chuckled softly at her shy expression and said gently, "I came to see Dr. Ran because I heard she was sick."
Just then, Dr. Ran slowly woke up and opened her eyes weakly. "Ranran? Oh my, Ranran, what brings you here? Come and sit down."
Seeing the elderly woman struggling to get up, Ye Ran quickly went over to help her. After she sat down, she quickly placed a pillow under her waist to make her more comfortable.
Sure enough, Dr. Ran looked much better and leaned back against the headboard, looking kindly at Ye Ran. "Ranran, it's been a while since I've seen you. What brings you here today? Is school on holiday?"
Ye Ran replied with a smile, "Yes, but it's not a holiday. I've already graduated from high school."
Dr. Ran was indeed quite pleased. "Really? That's wonderful! But Ranran, you can't neglect your studies!"
Although you can't go to university now, you will someday. University is a different world; it will allow you to learn more and meet many different friends.
Ye Ran was deeply moved by the old man's patient teachings.
These elderly people were treated unfairly because of their extensive knowledge, but they were never ashamed of their learning. On the contrary, they continued to love learning and life.
They are so selfless in inspiring the next generation. If there were such an elder to teach and help, I believe anyone would become a gentle and upright person!
So Ye Ran nodded obediently: "I know, Dr. Ran, are you feeling better?"
"Oh my, seeing our beautiful Ranran makes me feel much better, Ranran! Stop calling me Dr. Ran."
I'm not a doctor anymore, and that might sound a bit formal, but if you don't mind, please call me Grandma Ran!
Ye Ran didn't feel she needed to be too formal, so she immediately called out "Grandma Ran" in a cheerful voice.
Ran Yu immediately beamed with joy: "Oh dear, I've always dreamed of having a fairy-like granddaughter, but unfortunately, I'm unlucky and only have a disobedient brat..."
Logically, Grandma should give you a gift, but things aren't going well right now. However, we can't let Ranran suffer like this, so Grandma will definitely make it up to you later!
Ye Ran quickly declined, "No need, Grandma Ran, I'm already lucky to have such a good elder like you. People say that having an elder in the family is like having a treasure, but we don't have such a treasure in our family."
So, I'd love for you to take good care of yourself and be able to keep watching over meāthat's the greatest gift I could receive!
Ran Yu's eyes were practically squinting with laughter, her wrinkles all blossoming into a smile, as if this were her own granddaughter.
Looking at the scene before him, Lu Yi's eyes were full of smiles as he tenderly gazed at the two women who were the most important to him, feeling only contentment in his heart.
But he was still a little jealous. These two were really ignoring him perfectly. How could that be?
So he coughed twice, which made the two of them notice him again, standing in the corner by the door.
