Chapter 243 Escape (1/2)

Chapter 243 Escape

Aoba was so frightened that he broke out in a cold sweat. His legs went weak and he took a step back and fell onto the bed, breathing heavily.

The person reached out their hand to him. "Are you alright?"

By the faint moonlight, Qingye could barely make out that the person in front of her was actually Qingzhu.

His fear remained undiminished as he looked at the green bamboo before him and murmured, "How did you get here...?"

Qingzhu smiled and pulled him, "Well... I couldn't sleep at night, so I wanted to walk around in the yard to get some fresh air, and then I heard noises coming from Sister Wu Ju's room."

I clearly saw Sister Wu Ju leave this afternoon, so I suspected there was a thief and came in to check.

Aoba's heart skipped a beat, and she slowly reached out to help him stand up. "Then you..."

Qingzhu gave a shy smile. "Don't worry, if it's Brother Qingye, I won't say anything."

Qingye felt relieved, but still had some doubts. Qingzhu pouted, feeling wronged, "Brother Qingye, do you not believe me?"

"Didn't you treat me like a younger brother? If it were Aoki, would you still doubt him like this?"

Aoba quickly reassured him, "No, I was just wondering if anyone else might have found out."

Qingzhu chuckled softly, "Don't worry...they're all sleeping incredibly soundly tonight~"

Aoba felt relieved. "Really?"

Qingzhu tugged at his sleeve. "Brother Qingye, let's hurry up and go! I feel like Wu Ju might be coming back soon."

"good!"

Just as Qingye was about to walk outside, she tripped over something and fell to the ground with a thud, scattering the things she had just hidden in her arms.

Qingye hurriedly went to pick it up, and Qingzhu squatted down to help him pick it up a few times before handing it back to him.

Seeing the ledger he handed over, Qingye's heart tightened. She quickly took it and stuffed it into her bosom.

After picking up their belongings, the two quickly left. Not daring to walk openly in the yard, they secretly took the path behind the house.

Just as Qingye was about to take Qingzhu back to his own courtyard, they saw several people walking over in a hurry.

Qingye's heart tightened, and she quickly led Qingzhu to hide in the bushes outside a small courtyard nearby.

They had just taken cover when they saw the gate to the Green Bamboo Courtyard being roughly opened by those men.

In the quiet night, the voices of several people could be clearly heard from inside, with Wu Ju's voice being the most prominent: "He's in this courtyard."

Then came another woman's voice, "Really? Then let's go in quickly."

Qingye was surprised. Was Wu Ju trying to attract customers for Qingzhu?

But Qingzhu is not yet sixteen, and his health is not good. Even if he reaches the appropriate age, it is impossible to let him entertain guests.

If this goes wrong, it could cost him his life.

Qingzhu was fully aware of this matter. A cold glint flashed in his eyes, and when Qingye turned to look at him, he quickly put on a shocked and blank expression.

Seeing Qingzhu's appearance, Qingye knew he was frightened, so she quickly patted his back and helped him catch his breath.
