Chapter 368 Feeling Wronged (2/2)

Xu Fang and Li Min sat down with smiles on their faces. Li Min first put a piece of stir-fried bamboo shoot on Wu Cheng's plate, saying, "Try this. I saw it when I went to the market with my mom today."

An old man was selling them; they were really fresh. We were lucky to get the last bunch.

Wu Cheng took a bite and nodded unconsciously. "Not bad! Very crisp and refreshing. Did you and Mom go to the market today?"

When Wu Cheng asked this question, his expression and tone were a little off. His mother was a young lady from a scholarly family.

I can say I've been incredibly happy marrying his father all these years, but I've never had to lift a finger.

Now it's gotten to the point where we have to go to the farmers' market to buy groceries...

Wu Cheng felt a mix of emotions.

Xu Fang and Li Min didn't notice his expression; after the topic of the vegetable market came up, the two of them became quite excited.

"Yes! The market is so lively! All the vegetables are fresh and cheap. You have no idea how nice the old men and women selling vegetables are."

I only bought a few bok choy, and they even gave me some scallions as a gift—they were so kind!

"Exactly! I've never been to such an interesting place in my life! Not only do they sell vegetables, but they also sell food! This dried radish is from there. Doesn't it go well with rice?"

Oh! By the way, there's a clothing store there! And they're all very cheap..."

Wu Cheng suddenly interrupted them, "I know what you're talking about..."

But Mom, Minmin, we haven't reached that point yet.

Now the three of us live together, and as a man, I have a responsibility to take care of you. Moreover, I have already thought of a solution for the future.

You, you don't need to start thinking about how to save money right now..."

Upon hearing this, Xu Fang and Li Min paused, but after a short while, they spoke again.

Xu Fang looked at her son earnestly, "Son! Mom knows you're under a lot of pressure right now, but that's really not what I meant."

Mom wasn't trying to save money or anything; she just wanted to try a different lifestyle.

My first half of life was indeed one of comfort and privilege, but that kind of life was too peaceful for me.

When you were little, Mom could take care of you, but now that you're grown up, all Mom can do every day is wait for you and Dad to come home from get off work.

Later, you finally got married and had Minmin to keep me company, but your father's prejudice prevented that from happening.

I wasn't really happy in the first half of my life; I just wore a fake smile on my face.

On the contrary, today I saw many people around my age at the market.

Although they looked rougher than me, the smiles on their faces were genuine and pure!

They earn money with their own hands and encounter all sorts of new and different things every day. Their lives are fulfilling and interesting.

That's the life I want most. I want to live like them, more authentically, without any burdens. That way, my mother would definitely be happier than she is now.

Mom is telling you the truth; she's absolutely not lying!

So, Mom will go again in the future, don't feel guilty!
