Chapter 37 The Boy Who Cried Wolf
When she got home, Bai Yue was already in the kitchen preparing a meal. Seeing her daughter return, she quickly told her to go and rest for a while.
"Sweetie! Go and take a rest! Are you tired from reading today? Mommy will make you something delicious!"
Ye Ran smiled and rushed forward to hug her, "I'm not tired at all! Mom and Dad are the ones who are tired! You two go and rest first! I'll cook."
"No! This is the most crucial time for you. You need to eat well, drink well, and rest well! Mom will cook!"
"I told you I'd do it, Mom! Look what this is!" Ye Ran said, gesturing for Ye Jun to pull out the spare ribs hidden on his back.
"Where did you get such a big rack of spare ribs?" Bai Yue asked, her eyes wide with surprise.
Ye Ran then recounted what had just happened at the village entrance to Bai Yue, going over the details with her. She then explained to the two of them, "Oh dear! Actually, it's like this: as I told you, a classmate of mine told me that news! One of the reasons he told me was because I have good grades and could help him with his studies. Today, when I was helping him with his studies, I taught him a lot of knowledge, and his parents happily gave it to me."
"How can you accept this? They've already done you a huge favor by telling you this news. How can you accept something that belongs to someone else?" Bai Yue shook her head in disapproval.
"Oh, Mom, actually I wanted his things to put their minds at ease. If I took their things, they would feel that I could help their son more wholeheartedly!" Ye Ran explained seriously.
"That's right, then Mom will take it and cook some spare ribs for you." Bai Yue and Ye Jun were both persuaded. Anyway, since their daughter grew up, she seemed to have become more and more opinionated, especially after she fell into the water last time. The things she often said made them unconsciously listen to her.
"Oh dear! Mom, I told you I'd do it, don't you trust my skills?"
Bai Yue thought for a moment and realized that her daughter's cooking was indeed much better than hers. Looking at Ye Jun's hesitant expression, Bai Yue gave the father and daughter a disgruntled look. "I know, I know! I think you two just think my cooking isn't good enough!"
"No, I just felt that Mom was working too hard! You should go and rest! Dad, what are you standing there for? Come and rest with Mom!"
Ye Jun immediately understood and took Bai Yue out.
Looking at the kitchen where she was now all alone, Ye Ran breathed a sigh of satisfaction, rolled up her sleeves, and got to work.
The Ye family members all have a preference for strong flavors and like spicy food, so Ye Ran is going to make a spicy pork rib dish.
She first washed the ribs, drained them, then added salt, sugar, ginger slices, minced garlic, pepper, and light soy sauce, mixed them well, and marinated them for a while.
Finally, add a suitable amount of oil to the pot, then add the ribs and fry over low heat until the ribs turn slightly yellow. Then, remove the excess oil from the pot, leaving only a little oil at the bottom.
I added a little light and dark soy sauce for seasoning, then added fermented bean paste, minced garlic, and minced ginger. After stir-frying for a few minutes, I finally added a suitable amount of water and her secret weapon, the magical little dewdrops.
When the water is almost gone, add green and red bell peppers, bird's eye chilies, a little sugar, and a pinch of pepper. Stir-fry for a few minutes until the sauce thickens, then it's ready to serve!
Finally, after Ye Ran plated the ribs, she sprinkled chopped green onions on top as a garnish. And just like that, a delicious and visually appealing spicy pork rib dish was ready!
Ye Ran sniffed the aroma of the ribs in a good mood, proudly praising her own cooking skills. Then she made a cucumber salad and a vegetable soup before preparing to eat.
