Chapter 418 Wen Qi (1/2)

Chapter 418 Wen Qi

Looking at Lu Yi's smiling face, Wen Qi sighed and said, "Lu Yi, it's been so many years, you've grown so much..."

Don't call me Mr. Wen anymore, just call me Uncle Wen.

Lu Yi didn't say anything, turned around and went inside. "Uncle Wen, come in and have some food. I just made breakfast."

Wen Qi walked to the dining table and looked at the Chinese breakfast spread on it, sighing, "It's been so long since I've had these. I've been eating sandwiches and oatmeal with milk all the time. I've almost forgotten what these taste like."

"Hey, there are steamed buns too? Have one, hmm, not bad, you're a pretty good cook!"

Lu Yi chuckled softly, "Is it still the same taste as I remember?"

Wen Qi nodded, "Yes! But it's still a little bit lacking. Nothing in this world can be better than memories."

Lu Yi tilted his head noncommittally, pretending not to hear the deeper meaning in his words.

Wen Qi then chatted with him for a while, asking, "How are your grandfather and maternal grandfather doing?"

"It's alright, I can walk around the park more than ten times a day."

"That's good. I haven't seen them for so many years, I really miss them..."

Lu Yi just smiled and didn't reply to his words.

After eating another steamed bun and taking a sip of porridge, Wen Qi asked, "I heard that your mother and Lao Huang are here too, right?"

Lu Yi did not deny it, "They're still sleeping."

Wen Qi smiled helplessly, "Then they're living quite comfortably."

No sooner had she finished speaking than Director Huang's voice came from upstairs, "How can our lives compare to yours, Wen Qi? You've lived here for so many years, you must be used to it by now, right?"

Wen Qi gave a wry smile. "Old Huang, don't make fun of me. You know my situation."

Director Huang slowly walked downstairs. "Even if I knew, I still wouldn't understand. Tell me why you're doing this!"

Wen Qi sighed, "It's obvious, isn't it? If I hadn't come here back then, I probably wouldn't be alive now."

You know the situation better than I do. Under those circumstances, I was in more danger than anyone else…

Director Huang hummed and sat down next to him without saying anything more.

Lu Yi remained silent; Wen Qi was a very complex person.

His father was once a government-funded student studying abroad, and later married a foreign woman.

He followed in his father's footsteps and met his lover while studying abroad.

Their family is a typical modern family with a blend of Chinese and Western cultures.

Such a family was not inherently wrong, but they just happened to encounter that kind of situation.

Wen Qi's father foresaw the changing situation early on, and before that, he resigned from all his posts and moved to the United States with his family.

After that, I never went back.

Their behavior is incomprehensible to many, including Director Huang.

However, Lu Yi felt that this was perfectly reasonable. Everyone wants their family to live a better life, and it was just a lifestyle choice they made for themselves.

In the silence, Wen Qi sighed, "Alright, let's stop talking nonsense here. Lu Yi, is what you're saying true?"

Lu Yi nodded. "I have no reason to lie to you, but you should know, right? Giving you the things comes with conditions."

Wen Qi nodded, "That's for sure. Tell me your conditions first. As long as they're not unreasonable, I'll agree to them."
