Chapter 419 The Children Can Talk
In the afternoon, a group of people gathered together to tease two children.
Lu Yi smiled and waved the toy in front of Zhengzheng and Jiaojiao, saying, "Zhengzheng, Jiaojiao, call me Daddy! Whoever hands it over first will get the toy!"
Ye Ran looked at him helplessly, "They're not even a year old yet, it's too early for them to learn to talk."
Lu Yi chuckled mischievously, "That's not necessarily true. What if our Zhengzheng and Jiaojiao are just naturally smart and can talk at nine months old?"
"Is Daddy right? Quick, call him Daddy!"
Qingzhu, who was standing next to Jiaojiao, squeezed Jiaojiao's little hand. "Jiaojiao, tell your dad that what you gave us is not good. Change it. If you change it, we will call you dad."
Chen Zheng smiled helplessly, "What you're saying is even more outrageous. The child hasn't even learned to call his parents 'daddy' or 'mommy' yet, how could he say these things?"
Qingzhu gave a noncommittal snort, "That's for you ordinary people. I remember when I was little, I could call people at ten months old."
Then they could walk at one year old. Someone like you definitely can't understand that..."
Chen Zheng was momentarily speechless at these words, and looking at Lu Yi's amusing gaze, he gave an awkward laugh.
Just as the group was talking amongst themselves, Jiaojiao suddenly uttered her first words, "Ah... Dad... Daddy..."
Lu Yi's smile suddenly froze on his face, and everyone fell silent...
After a long while, Lu Yi slowly turned his head and stiffly looked at Jiao Jiao. "Jiao Jiao, just now... were you calling me 'Daddy'?"
Jiaojiao looked at her father with her innocent big eyes, her spring clothes looking pure and innocent, and just smiled cutely.
Lu Yi picked up Jiao Jiao in one go, "Jiao Jiao, did you just call me Daddy?"
"Dad didn't hear me clearly, could you call again? Qingzhu, go and turn on the tape recorder for me!"
Qingzhu's mouth opened and closed silently a few times, then she immediately took action, decisively running over to turn on the tape recorder next to her.
That wasn't all. He carefully moved the recorder directly to the coffee table in the middle of the group, as close as possible to the two children, to ensure that he could clearly record the first words they uttered.
Despite all the preparations, Jiaojiao refused to call him "Dad" no matter what. No matter how Lu Yi and Ye Ran tried to guide her, she could only laugh and utter indistinct monosyllabic words.
Just as Lu Yi and Ye Ran's smiles grew increasingly disappointed and stiff, Zheng Zheng beside them gave them another surprise.
"Mom... Dad... Mom..."
A burst of joy, like fireworks, flashed in Lu Yi and Ye Ran's gradually dimming eyes.
Ye Ran gently coaxed Zhengzheng, "Baby, can you say it again?"
Zhengzheng called out again, much to everyone's respect. Jiaojiao, feeling neglected, let out two reluctant "ah ah" sounds.
When she realized her parents still weren't looking at her, she couldn't help but raise her voice and shout, "Mom! Dad!"
Lu Yi and Ye Ran quickly turned around. Lu Yi, holding Jiao Jiao, didn't forget to turn back to Qing Zhu and ask, "Did you record it? You recorded it, right?"
Qingzhu gave an OK sign, and Lu Yi then lifted Jiaojiao high in the air, exclaiming, "Haha, Daddy knew my two darlings were the best!"
Ye Ran was overjoyed, "I never expected they would learn to talk so early, I'm so happy..."
Yan Xiu'er stepped forward and wiped her eyes. "So happy? Okay, stop crying."
