Chapter 481 The Tragedy of Rich Kids
By the time Ye Ran finished her work, it was already 12:30 pm. There was a gentle knock on the door. Ye Ran looked up and saw Meng Ran smiling at her.
"Boss Ye, no matter how busy you are, you still need to make time for meals! Everyone else has already gone to eat, and it's just the two of us left. Why don't you get ready and we'll go eat too!"
Ye Ran put the documents in her hand aside. "Okay, I'll show you around the restaurants and see which ones are pretty good."
Ye Ran said as she walked out, and Meng Ran followed behind her, closing the door behind her. "I'm really looking forward to it."
Ye Ran took Meng Ran to visit some of the more famous places near Wall Street before taking him to dinner.
Meng Ran was very interested in the stock exchanges and conglomerate headquarters along the street, and Ye Ran could clearly sense the eagerness in his eyes as he spoke.
While waiting for the food, Ye Ran jokingly asked, "How is it? Is this the kind of environment you like?"
Meng Ran slowly wiped the table for herself. "Ah! It really is what I like. It's full of uncertainty and challenges, which gives me a feeling of excitement!"
Coming here was definitely the right decision, and I have to thank you for it! If it weren't for your invitation, I'd probably still be a workshop foreman in my grandfather's factory!
Ye Ran disagreed with his view, "You're being overly modest. What workshop director? I've heard from Old Master Meng that once you graduate, he'll be helping you manage Meng's Industries."
Meng Ran smiled and sighed, "For me, staying in China to help my grandfather, whether I'm a workshop foreman or a factory manager, doesn't really make much difference; it's all the same—no challenge."
As you know, my grandfather, my father, and several of my uncles were all successful businessmen. To be honest, being born into such a family is both a blessing and a curse.
If you are outstanding, others will take it for granted; but if you are not outstanding, you will be labeled as a spendthrift, a label you can't shake off no matter what you want to remove.
For me, this is a more serious problem, because my family is even more successful than the average successful businessman; they are at the pinnacle of success.
Under such circumstances, it's enough for outsiders to know that my surname is Meng; no one will remember my real name or go back to find out what kind of person I am.
Therefore, I desperately need a job that allows me to break free from the shadow of my ancestors and potentially surpass them…
Upon hearing this, Ye Ran couldn't help but laugh out loud. "I bet a lot of people will feel uncomfortable hearing you say that. It sounds like you're showing off."
Meng Ran sighed, "I'm sincere, so when you called me this time, I agreed without hesitation. For me, this career is my greatest hope right now."
Whether I can create a career that satisfies everyone depends on now. Therefore, I will definitely devote all my energy to making everything create the greatest value.
Only in this way can I face my family and go back home! Otherwise, my family will think that's all I'm capable of.
Hearing Meng Ran's words, Ye Ran couldn't help but pick up her glass of juice and clink it against his. "I believe in you, and I believe in myself, so we will definitely achieve great things together!"
Meng Ran smiled and touched her hand lightly. "As it stands, there's definitely no problem. I've already talked to all the employees this morning."
Judging from the overall impression, Ye Ran, you put in a lot of effort; you worked very hard.
Ye Ran shook her head. "Of course, I'm not helping anyone. This is my own business, so naturally I have to do my best."
Meng Ran laughed out loud, "That's right, why are we being so polite here? We'll be cooperating for a long time in the future, so being too polite wouldn't be appropriate."
Ye Ran was amused by his words, and just then the dishes were served, so the two of them stopped talking and began to enjoy their delicious lunch.
