Chapter 212 Deer are treasures from head to toe
Sheng Xiping and his two companions quickly emerged from the rocks and bushes and rushed to the vicinity of Nuanquanzi.
Three deer lay on the ground, two males and one female.
Of the two male stags, one was shot in the head, and the other was shot right behind the shoulder blade, the bullet going in through the smaller eye and out the larger one. So both of them died instantly.
Only the one with the injured leg, because the injury was to the front and hind legs on the same side, the doe fell directly to the ground, unable to muster any strength.
Seeing this, Sheng Xiping didn't bother with any more trouble and fired another shot.
"It's a pity we didn't know there were deer here, otherwise we should have brought our belongings and collected some deer blood."
Chen Weiguo looked at the three deer on the ground and sighed. What a waste.
"Alright, stop thinking about that. Hurry up and drag him aside to gut him and take the heart out."
Sheng Xiping didn't want to think about those unnecessary things; the most important thing was to quickly gut the deer and remove its heart.
Deer are valuable from head to toe, and their hearts are also a precious medicinal ingredient, with excellent effects in treating heart disease.
If it had been any later, the blood in the deer's heart would have been gone.
Chen Weiguo thought about it and realized it made sense. Why think so much? They already had three deer, why worry about a little bit of deer blood?
So the three of them quickly dragged the dead deer away from the water's edge to a flat area nearby, where they gutted the deer and removed its heart and fetus.
"Don't forget deer antler velvet, it's a good thing too." Sheng Xiping didn't forget to remind the two of the deer antler velvet.
Wang Jianshe and Chen Weiguo exchanged a glance, coughed lightly twice, and smiled meaningfully.
"Xiping, it seems you don't need this for the time being."
"I'm a real, strong young man, I could break the bed even without this thing."
Can men really talk about serious things all day long when they're together?
Don't be fooled by the fact that they're all young men; they hang out with those grown men all the time, and they can say all sorts of dirty jokes.
"Pah! Did I say I used it?"
Sheng Xiping rolled his eyes in exasperation at the two of them. How old was he? Did he need this kind of thing? It was probably someone like Lao Xiao who would need it.
"I just said it's a good thing, we can't just throw it away. This thing is worth quite a bit of money if we sell it."
"Do you believe that if Lao Xiao finds out, he'll definitely buy it back even if it costs him money?" Sheng Xiping couldn't help but laugh as he said this.
It is said that the day after Lao Xiao returned from the mountain before the Lunar New Year, he was again lured into bed by someone.
An insider revealed that Lao Xiao was listless and kept complaining of back pain.
Clearly, Wang Jianshe and Chen Weiguo had also thought of this. The three of them looked at each other and burst into laughter.
"Brother Xiping, what are you laughing at?" At this moment, Zhang Zhijun and Pan Fusheng walked over from a distance, asking as they went.
"Don't ask questions, little kids." The three were still laughing, but they managed to suppress their laughter and put on a stern face to fool the two younger children.
"Come here, let's see what we're fighting?"
When Zhang Zhijun and Pan Fusheng got closer, they saw three deer. The largest weighed nearly 300 jin (150 kg), and the smallest weighed about 200 jin (100 catties).
"My God, Brother Xiping, we've really hit the jackpot this time, we've caught three deer again."
Good heavens, how long will it take to get back and eat?
"You two foodies, all you do is eat. Come over and lend a hand."
Wang Jianshe shook his head and beckoned two people over to help. While the deer was still warm, they quickly skinned it.
Otherwise, in this cold weather, the meat will freeze in a little while, and then we'll have to peel it and put it in a warm place to thaw it, which is a hassle.
Zhang Zhijun and Pan Fusheng quickly came over and helped drag the deer to the vicinity of the shed. Then, everyone worked together to skin the deer and leave the meat on the snow to freeze.
After a day and a night in the mountains, we hunted two musk deer, one lynx, one roe deer, and three sika deer. This record is unbeatable.
Sheng Xiping decided to pack up and go home. He wouldn't fight anymore. No matter what happened, he couldn't fight today. He had to go home.
I still have some leftover dry food from yesterday, so I'll quickly bake it up and use it as a snack.
Then, the group dug out the roe deer and lynx meat buried in the snow and dismantled the hut.
Using readily available wood, bark, rope, and other materials, they tied together three simple sleds.
They loaded all the game they had hunted, along with the other items they had brought, onto the sled, and the two of them pulled it back home.
Fortunately, the snow was still quite thick at this time, and there was a hard layer of snow on the ground, so it was quite convenient to drag the sled around, and it didn't take much effort.
The group of six retraced their steps and returned along the same route they had taken.
They didn't expect such a harvest when they came yesterday, so they set quite a few traps.
Now that we're going back, we'll definitely have to check out the snares along the way. If anything gets caught in one, we'll bring it back with us.
If not, I'll come back for a walk again tomorrow morning; it's nothing special.
We tried all the snares, and it went well. We caught several pheasants and rabbits, and even caught a roe deer with one of the snares.
This was a great success; all six of them were beaming with joy and full of energy as they walked back.
This trip has been long, and with so much prey dragging along on the way back, we certainly won't be able to move fast.
They stopped and rested several times along the way, and by the time they returned to the forest farm, it was almost 2 p.m.
On the fifth day of the Lunar New Year, the forest farm workers hadn't started work yet; they were all at home visiting relatives and friends and enjoying leisure activities.
Winter days are short, and people don't work during the Lunar New Year holiday, so most families only eat two meals a day. Therefore, at this time, smoke rises from the forest farm as everyone cooks and waits for their meals.
