Chapter 235 Wedding Photos

Chapter 236 Wedding Photos

Zhou Qinglan's household registration is in Qianchuan Forest Farm, so the two of them took some time a few days ago to go to the civil affairs department of the forest farm and get their marriage certificate.

It just so happened to be Saturday the 29th, so Zhou Qinglan took a day off, hitched a ride with the people from the forest farm who were attending a meeting, and went back to Songjianghe to see her parents and discuss the specifics of the wedding.

While we were at it, I went with Sheng Xiping to the Forestry Bureau's photo studio to take our wedding photos.

At noon, Zhou Mingyuan and Wang Chunxiu did not go home to cook. Instead, they invited Wang Jiachuan, Zheng Xianyong, Sheng Xiping, and Zhou Qinglan to eat at the Forestry Bureau Restaurant.

It just so happened that we discussed the wedding arrangements for the two children while we were eating.

Wang Jiachuan had a good relationship with the Sheng family, so he acted as an elder of the groom's family and discussed all the details of the wedding process with Zhou Mingyuan on behalf of Sheng Liancheng.

Originally, Zhou Qinglan was supposed to take a few days off before the wedding to go home and stay with her parents.

But she's a teacher at the school now, and she's just taken over the class. The students are still adjusting, and if she takes leave, the students will be left to their own devices again.

Furthermore, there simply aren't enough teachers in the primary and secondary schools in Maekawa; it's really impossible to make arrangements.

So Zhou Qinglan discussed with her family that she wouldn't come back before the wedding, and they would make arrangements for her however they could.

On April 7th, the Zhou family took their belongings on a small train to Qianchuan Forest Farm, then stayed at the Sheng family's old house. They held their wedding on the 9th and returned by train on the 10th.

My daughter has a job now, even if it's just as a substitute teacher, it's still better than working in the agricultural team.

Zhou Mingyuan and his wife are very supportive of their daughter; work is the priority.

As for the wedding, it's only because the Sheng and Zhou families value it that they've gone to such lengths to arrange it.

Many couples don't even have a wedding banquet. They just get a marriage certificate, the woman packs a bag, and moves to the man's house. They live their lives just the same, don't they?

These days, people don't really care about formalities. Two people getting together is about living life together, and everything else is irrelevant.

The Zhou family didn't complain about their daughter's future; they just did whatever was convenient for them.

And so, the two sides reached an agreement. After dinner, Wang Jiachuan and Zheng Xianyong had things to do, while Sheng Xiping and Zhou Qinglan went to the forestry bureau's photo studio to have their photos taken.

"Male comrade, move a little closer to the female comrade, hey, yes, yes."

Ladies, tilt your head slightly and smile. Yes, hold that pose.

An experienced photographer in the studio had Sheng Xiping and Zhou Qinglan sit in front of the backdrop, pinned red flowers on their chests, pointed out their posture, and then gestured to them.

"Three, two, one." With a click, the flash went off, capturing the two people's happy smiles.

It's rare for two young people to come to a photo studio, so how could they only take one photo? In addition to this wedding photo, the two took several other photos.

Sheng Xiping sat down, and Zhou Qinglan stood behind him, with her hands on his shoulders, and they took a picture.

The two stood side by side for another photo. Then Zhou Qinglan and Sheng Xiping each took a book and posed for a solo photo.

"Master, is it okay to write the date on the photo? Could you please write it down for me?"

After the photos were taken and it was time to pay, Sheng Xiping suddenly remembered that it seemed like the photos from that era could have the date written on them, which was common on wedding photos, as a keepsake.

"Okay, okay, I'll write the date down. Remember, come pick up the photos in a week."

The experienced craftsman wrote down the requirements in his notebook, then took the money and told Sheng Xiping to come and pick up the photos later, not too early.

After leaving the photo studio, the two didn't have time to wander around anywhere else. They hurried to the forest railway station, where the forest farm's railway motorcycles were waiting.

They had just arrived when Wang Jiachuan, Zheng Xianyong, and others also arrived.

Once everyone was present, the motorcycle driver spoke with the dispatcher at the forest railway station, then drove off the station and headed straight for the forest farm.

Qianchuan Forest Farm once again won the honor of being an advanced forest farm. When the good news spread, the whole forest farm was overjoyed and celebrated with gongs and drums.

The educated youth team was awarded the title of Outstanding Youth Commando Team, and the educated youth in the forest farm were extremely happy, telling everyone they met.

Although it was just a certificate with no real reward, for people in this era, honor was above all else.

The lack of material possessions does not affect the richness of one's spiritual life.

In the blink of an eye, March has passed and April has arrived. Sheng Xiping and Zhou Qinglan's wedding date is just around the corner.

"Boss, hurry up and read the letter to me. This should be a reply from our hometown."

At noon on the 2nd, Sheng Liancheng returned from the small repair shop with a letter in his hand. He eagerly handed it to Sheng Xiping and asked him to read it aloud.

After the New Year, Sheng Liancheng had his second son, Sheng Xi'an, write a letter back to their hometown to inform them of Sheng Xiping's upcoming marriage.

There had been no news from them for so long, but I didn't expect to receive a letter at this time.

Sheng Xiping took the letter, opened it, and began to read it aloud in front of his parents.

The letter was written by Sheng Xiping's third uncle. The content was simple: it was the busy season for farming back home, and Sheng Liancheng's brothers were all tied up with their work.

As for Sheng Liancheng's parents, they are both old and no one would dare to let them come to Northeast China.

Therefore, no one from Sheng Xiping's hometown attended his wedding.

The brothers pooled together twenty yuan and sent it over, as a small token of their appreciation.

Xinli also said that when Sheng Liancheng has free time, he should bring his wife, children, and his newlywed daughter-in-law back to his hometown for a visit.

My parents back home really miss their child from Northeast China.

It would be impossible for Sheng Liancheng not to feel some disappointment after hearing the letter.
