Xiao Xinhua refused to eat his own noodles and insisted on eating steamed buns, eventually eating about half of one.
After the little guy finished eating, he imitated Sheng Xitai by touching his own belly, then broke free from Zhang Shuzhen's embrace, climbed to the side of the kang (heated brick bed), and played with Huahua.
"Mom, did Huahua eat anything during the day?" Sheng Xiping asked casually.
“No, I tried to feed it, but it wouldn’t eat. It just stayed by Xinhua’s side and played with it.” Zhang Shuzhen shook her head.
"Huahua and Xinhua had a great time playing together for two afternoons. I didn't even have to coax Xinhua to sleep. He just cuddled Huahua and fell asleep on time."
"Hmm, maybe it ate a lot before and isn't hungry yet." It is said that after a big meal, a tiger can go two or three days without eating.
"I never expected that Xinhua and Huahua would get along so well," Sheng Xiping said with a smile.
Everyone in the Sheng family likes Hua Hua; that's probably the charm of a big cat.
After all, not everyone has the opportunity to pet a big cat. As for the Northeast Golden Shaded, are you kidding me? Is that something an ordinary person can pet?
The steamed buns were delicious and large; everyone finished them in no time.
As soon as Sheng Xitai and Chen Feng finished eating, they went up to Hua Hua and touched her fur, which was as fine as the best silk.
"Have you both finished your homework? Go get it so I can check it. You were so busy playing with the tiger, what a mess your homework is!"
After school today, Zhou Qinglan went home to help make steamed buns and didn't have time to watch them do their homework.
Anyway, Zhou Qinglan felt that the two children hadn't spent enough time on their homework today, and she was afraid they would slack off, so she wanted to check their homework.
"Sister-in-law, we've both finished our homework. If you don't believe me, I'll show you."
Upon hearing this, Sheng Xitai realized the gravity of the situation and quickly took out all his homework books for Zhou Qinglan to check.
Zhou Qinglan opened the notebook and saw that, well, it was finished, but the handwriting was so messy compared to usual that it was practically flying off the page.
"Is this the homework you two did? It's so bad it's like flying on the grass."
"Sheng Xitai, is this how I've always taught you? Your handwriting is so bad, even a handful of rice or a chicken would write better."
Zhou Qinglan was furious and used all the methods she used to discipline students at school.
Everyone in the room burst into laughter upon hearing this.
Even Sheng Xinhua, who knew nothing about it, clapped his hands and laughed along when he saw everyone laughing.
"Sixth brother, what are you standing there for? Hurry up and rewrite your homework, or you'll make your sister-in-law angry."
Upon seeing this, Zhang Shuzhen quickly gave her youngest son a meaningful look.
"Sister-in-law, I'll rewrite it."
Startled, Sheng Xitai hunched his shoulders and cautiously approached Zhou Qinglan, wanting to retrieve his homework and rewrite it.
"Forget it, just don't do it again." Zhou Qinglan sighed.
It's not good to be too strict with your own brother-in-law.
Thankfully, her in-laws are open-minded and supportive, never interfering with how she manages her brother-in-law. If this were any other family, it would probably have caused a huge uproar.
Since her in-laws were being accommodating, Zhou Qinglan couldn't take it too seriously.
Sheng Xitai usually behaves quite well, but today he was just eager to play with Huahua because Huahua came back, which is understandable, so let's forgive him this time.
"Xiaofeng, I won't scold you. Save it for tomorrow at school, and your teacher will deal with you."
"Alright, that's it. If your homework is still this messy tomorrow, I'll tear up your notebooks and make you rewrite it, understand?"
Zhou Qinglan glanced at Chen Feng and couldn't help but sigh inwardly.
This adopted child can't be disciplined too strictly. Chen Feng is nine years old now, quite a big kid, and he's already holding grudges.
Although Chen Feng usually behaves well and has a close relationship with the Sheng family, he is ultimately not their biological son.
There has to be a balance when it comes to discipline; being too lenient won't work, and being too strict won't work either.
If I'm too lenient with him, I'm afraid he won't amount to anything and will become naughty and cause trouble in the future, harming both himself and his family.
If I'm too strict with him, I'm afraid he'll hold a grudge. What if he gets upset and runs away when he's older in a few years?
Zhou Qinglan wholeheartedly treated Chen Feng like her own child, but there were still some things she needed to be careful about.
"Auntie, I know I was wrong. I will definitely be more careful next time and never do it again," Chen Feng said, bowing his head in apology.
"Alright, hurry up and pack your things into your schoolbag. Xiaofeng, have you sharpened your pencils? If they're all dull, ask your uncle to sharpen a few for you."
When raising children, you must discipline them when necessary, and you can also comfort them appropriately when needed.
"It's all peeled, my uncle helped me peel it."
Chen Feng took his workbook, put it in his schoolbag, and then opened his pencil case, revealing the sharpened pencils inside.
"Okay, let's play for a while and then get ready for bed, so we don't have trouble getting up in the morning."
Zhou Qinglan glanced at the clock on the wall; it was almost seven o'clock. If she played a little longer, Sheng Xinhua would have to go to sleep soon.
"Okay, I got it." Sheng Xitai and Chen Feng nodded obediently, then packed their schoolbags, hung them on the wall, and ran off to play with Huahua.
Sheng Xinhua usually goes to bed at eight o'clock in the evening. Around seven-thirty, Zhou Qinglan would take him to pee, wash his bottom, and then go back to the room to breastfeed and lull him to sleep.
Sheng Xinhua had played with Hua Hua all day. No matter how fun the big cat was, it was still not as dear as his mother, so he obediently went with Zhou Qinglan.
As soon as Hua Hua saw Sheng Xinhua go to the west room to rest, she immediately jumped down, went out of the east room, and flung open the outer door.
Then, with a leap, he jumped off the cane in the Sheng family compound and disappeared in a few bounds.
Once Hua Hua left, Erlang Shen and the others dared to come out of their doghouse and vigorously shake their fur.
