If it's a shift change, it doesn't count as taking leave. If I come back late at night, I'll have Sheng Xikang go and cover for me.
Anyway, night shifts are all the same, as long as nothing goes wrong.
Gao Haining and his group came to the Sheng family mainly for hunting.
With the matter settled, everyone was happy and chatted idly, talking about the interesting things that had happened on the mountain. Before they knew it, it was getting late.
Xiao Xinhua was yawning from exhaustion, which Wang Jianshe noticed, and he quickly pulled everyone away.
"Uncle, Aunt, it's getting late. Let's go home and chat another day. You should get some rest too. I think Xinhua is sleepy."
The group put on their hats and walked out. Sheng Xiping followed them out and they went to the security department together. They talked to someone they got along well with on the night shift and asked to switch shifts with that person.
The other party understood why Sheng Xiping was switching classes, so they suggested that if Sheng Xiping and his group caught wild boars in the mountains, they should leave some pork for him.
Asking someone to switch classes requires offering some benefits, so Sheng Xiping readily agreed.
After leaving the security office, the brothers parted ways and went home. Sheng Xiping returned home, locked the front door, and then went inside to rest.
The Sheng family had all finished washing up and gotten into bed. Sheng Xinhua had been living with his grandmother these past few days, and was now fast asleep in Zhang Shuzhen's bed.
After thinking it over, Sheng Xiping simply carried the child back to the west room. The little guy was sleeping soundly and didn't notice at all that he had been moved while he was sleeping.
The next morning, Sheng Xiping got up early to fetch water and cook. He made porridge and dumplings in one pot and dog food in the other. Once the food was ready, he called everyone to get up and eat.
After breakfast, the dog food had cooled down, so I put it into the dog food bowl and fed each dog individually.
Normally, if Sheng Xiping starts feeding the dogs, it means he's going up the mountain that day.
The dogs in the Sheng family are all very clever. As soon as they saw Sheng Xiping feeding them, they immediately knew what was going on.
They wagged their tails and whimpered, afraid that Sheng Xiping wouldn't lead them up the mountain later.
"Alright, eat well. There are a lot of people today, so you can all come up the mountain with us." Sheng Xiping patted the dogs' heads to comfort them.
Whether the dogs understood or not, they stopped whimpering and quickly lowered their heads to eat after Sheng Xiping said that.
Before the dog had even finished eating, Wang Jianshe and the others had finished packing and arrived fully armed.
Sheng Xiping quickly got ready, filling his sling bag with dry rations, bullets, and other supplies he would need for the climb up the mountain, then took his gun off the wall and slung it over his shoulder.
"Let's go to the security office and get two guns and two packs of bullets."
Previously, when Sheng Xiping led people to hunt jackals and leopards, Wang Jiachuan gave special permission to give their educated youth team a few semi-automatic hunting kites so they wouldn't have to borrow them from the security department every time they went hunting.
Didn't Wang Jianshe and Chen Weiguo both hire workers? The guns were put away in the yard, leaving only the one in Sheng Xiping's hand.
So today, they still have to borrow at least one more gun from the security department to go hunting.
