In the blink of an eye, Sheng Xiping has been accompanying Chen Weimin to Shanghai for almost a month.
In between, Sheng Xiping sent several letters home, telling them about the situation here. His family sent him money several times, as well as letters and telegrams; they kept in frequent contact.
Back home, winter production has ended, and the logging workers stationed on the mountain have all gone home.
When Chen Shiliang learned that Chen Weimin had gone to Shanghai to get a prosthetic leg installed, he was initially not very happy, but later he understood.
So he told his family that he couldn't let Sheng Xiping stay with him all the time.
They also have families and businesses, yet they neglected their own affairs and stayed with Weimin in Shanghai. The Chen family, on the other hand, didn't show up. This is not good.
Following the route and address given in Sheng Xiping's letter, Chen Shiliang traveled from Songjiang River to Dalian, and then took a boat from Dalian to Shanghai.
"Xiping, thank you for spending so much time with Minzi. I really don't know what to say."
You treat Minako even better than his own brother does.
Chen Shiliang arrived at the hotel where Sheng Xiping and the others were staying in a tricycle. The three of them were very happy to see each other, and Chen Shiliang had no choice but to thank Sheng Xiping properly.
"Uncle, you're being too polite by saying that."
We've been neighbors for so many years. Weiguo, Minzi, and I are childhood friends. If Minzi needs help, I can't just ignore him."
Upon hearing this, Sheng Xiping smiled and said.
"That's right. You have a job and children at home, so you can't stay here with him all the time."
There's not much work to do at home right now, so I'll come and keep Minzi company while she waits here. You can't stay too long; you should go home soon.
Although Sheng Xiping's job is quite easy, the harvest season is coming up, and we can't let him miss out on making money.
So Chen Shiliang told Sheng Xiping to go home early and take care of his family.
Actually, Sheng Xiping was also feeling restless. He had been away for a month and didn't know what his home was like.
Both children are left in their mother's care. If the children start making a fuss, the family might not even be able to eat properly.
Missing a month of work isn't a big deal, as he'll still get paid. Even though he can't go hunting in the mountains to earn money, brotherhood is more important than money.
But this is going to be a long time, and I'm really starting to miss home.
Just then, Chen Shiliang arrived, so Chen Weimin had someone to take care of him, and Sheng Xiping could rest assured.
"Then let's do it this way. I'll go with you to the prosthetics factory to try out the samples the day after tomorrow."
"Once the samples are tested and there are no problems, I'll go home first. Uncle, you stay here with Minzi." Sheng Xiping said, following Chen Shiliang's lead.
"Okay, that's settled then. Oh, by the way, your dad and mom said that when you're on your way back, you should go back to your hometown for a visit."
They don't have time to go back. You're the eldest son, so go home and see your grandparents for them.
Chen Shiliang suddenly remembered this matter and hurriedly said.
Sheng Liancheng and his wife haven't been back to their hometown for many years, and they both miss their elderly relatives there.
If Sheng Xiping goes out for a while and takes the train back, he can take a slightly longer route to visit his hometown.
Sheng Xiping thought for a moment, and since his parents had spoken, he might as well go back. So he started packing his luggage, buying things, and preparing to go home in advance.
On April 18th, Sheng Xiping accompanied Chen Shiliang and his son to the prosthetics factory to test samples.
There were experienced craftsmen there helping Chen Weimin put on the sample prosthesis, mainly to check if the size was right and if there were any adjustments needed.
If the samples are satisfactory, then we can proceed with the formal production of aluminum alloy prostheses.
After trying out the sample, it will take a long time before the finished prosthesis can be picked up, and then a period of training will be required before it can walk normally.
Based on this calculation, it would take at least another month. Sheng Xiping really couldn't afford to delay, so he made an agreement with Chen Shiliang and his son that he would go home first.
Most of the people staying at this hotel are people from various places who come to the prosthetics factory to get prosthetics installed. They get to know each other well after spending a lot of time together.
As soon as people heard that Sheng Xiping was leaving, many people looked for him. Everyone exchanged contact information and promised to keep in touch.
The shop's waitresses, Xiao Peng and Sister Hui, all left their contact information when they learned that Sheng Xiping was leaving.
Sister Hui also bought a lot of fruit and snacks for Sheng Xiping to eat in the car.
Sheng Xiping took the express train from Shanghai to Qingdao and got off at Yanzhou Railway Station after more than a day's journey.
Then go to the highway bus station, take a long-distance bus and get off at a town called Xiaoyun Temple. From there, the shortest route is to walk towards Dazhaozhuang.
Xiaoyun Temple was still thirteen or fourteen miles away from Sheng Xiping's destination. In those days, there were no short-distance buses or anything like that, so Sheng Xiping had no choice but to walk.
Sheng Xiping asked for directions, then went to the supply and marketing cooperative to buy some pastries and canned goods, and walked towards Dazhaozhuang.
After walking for about an hour, they arrived at the entrance of the village. There were some children playing outside who came over to ask Sheng Xiping, who looked unfamiliar.
Upon hearing that they were going to Old Sheng's house, the quick-footed children immediately ran back to report the news.
Before long, a large group of people came out of the village.
"Is that Xiping from the second son's family? Oh my, it's been over ten years since I last saw him. He's grown so tall."
The leader looked to be in his fifties, with a dark face full of deep wrinkles, slightly graying temples, and wearing a faded blue jacket with patches on the collar and elbows.
At first glance, he looks like a typical old farmer.
This man looked about six or seven parts like Sheng Liancheng, but he looked older. Sheng Xiping recognized him at a glance as his uncle, Sheng Lianyi.
“Uncle, it’s me, Xiping. I haven’t seen you for many years.” Sheng Xiping stepped forward and grabbed Sheng Lianyi’s hand.
