Chapter 568 Going home is the most comfortable

"Grandma, is Dad still sleeping? Didn't we say we were going back to the forest farm today and should head back early? Why isn't he up yet?"

Sheng Xinyu, being rather clumsy, saw the person on the kang (heated brick bed) in the east room lying in bed and not getting up, so he asked.

"Keep your voice down. Your dad has been away for so long, he must be having a hard time eating and sleeping at sea."

"It's rare for him to sleep so soundly, let him sleep a little longer." Zhou Qinglan glared at her son and whispered.

"Honey, don't worry about the baby, I've had enough sleep, I'm getting up now."

Sheng Xiping inside the room had actually already woken up, but he was too lazy to get up.

Hearing Zhou Qinglan scolding the child, he knew it wouldn't be right to remain silent, so he got up, put on his clothes, and went to the outer room to wash his face and tidy up.

The whole family got up and quickly prepared the food for breakfast.

After breakfast, Sheng Xinhua and the others tidied up at home, while Sheng Xiping and Zhou Qinglan went to the market to buy some meat, fish, cooked food, and the like.

With so many people going back to eat and stay, and the kids all craving meat, we really need to prepare some food for them.

The couple bought quite a lot of things and put them in the trunk of the car. By the time they got home, the children had already finished getting ready.

This year, May Day falls on a Friday, so high schools have a monthly break, and elementary and junior high schools also have a three-day break, with classes starting on Monday.

Since we had nothing else to do, the whole family went back to the forest farm for a couple of days and will come back when school starts.

Eight people, not enough for one car, but luckily the family has enough cars, so Sheng Xiping and Zhou Qinglan each drive one.

Zhou Qinglan had only learned to drive a little over a year ago. The main reason was that Sheng Xiping was not at home, and during holidays, Zhou Qinglan had to take the children back to the forest farm, which was inconvenient.

Last July, the Songjianghe Forestry Bureau completely ended its history of using forest railways to transport timber. The forest train stopped operating, and the railway tracks were also dismantled.

Qianchuan and Shuguang, the last two forest transport farms, were both converted into motor transport forest farms.

Since there was no small train, the forestry bureau arranged for several large buses to run back and forth in the gully.

We run alternately by odd and even numbers, one day to Qianchuan and the other day to Shengli.

The bus departs at 1:30 pm every day, and the driver and passengers stay overnight in the gully. The bus then departs from the gully at 7:30 am the next morning and runs towards Songjiang River.

The Sheng family does have a dedicated driver, but it's inconvenient to have the driver pick them up and drop them off all the time.

Zhou Qinglan decided to learn to drive, and every Sunday she would drive the children back to the forest farm.

In May, the weather was already quite warm, and it happened to be a holiday, so many children carried baskets and shovels to the fields to dig up dandelions, shepherd's purse, and wild vegetables.

Most of the older people were wielding shovels and hoes, turning over the soil in their own vegetable gardens to prepare for planting vegetables, or they would gather in the spacious area in front of the venue to chat.

So when Sheng Xiping and his wife drove into the forest farm, many people saw them.

"Hey, is this the Sheng family returning? Why are there two cars? Usually it's just one car?" someone asked curiously.

"You didn't know? The day before yesterday afternoon, a car came to pick up Brother Sheng and his wife."

"From what I heard, it sounds like Xiping is back," someone nearby said.

"Xiping is back? Wasn't he gone for years without a word?"
