September 1st happened to fall on a Sunday.
Early in the morning, Sheng Xiping went to the site to find someone and obtained a timber handling permit and a letter of introduction.
Even though the forest farm has a lot of timber, it can't just be transported out arbitrarily; a transport permit is required.
We're from the same forest farm and have a good relationship, so they readily provided the certificate and letter of introduction.
"Well, Xiping, you're not even married yet, and you're already siding with your future father-in-law."
"The Zhou family is truly blessed to have such a capable son-in-law like you."
When the people in the office handed the letter of introduction to Sheng Xiping, they deliberately made fun of him.
"Hehe, if we want to marry someone's daughter, we have to be diligent, right?"
Sheng Xiping isn't really a twenty-year-old lad; he's shameless.
No matter how much people laughed at him, he calmly accepted the letter of introduction and the moving permit, thanked them, and hurried home.
As soon as I got home, I found the second and third kids messing around in the storage room.
"What are you two doing?" Sheng Xiping asked curiously.
"Brother, you went to Songjiang River today, right? Could you help me sell these copper pieces?"
Sheng Xikang carried a wooden box out of the storeroom.
The box had no lid and was filled with a lot of odds and ends, probably made of copper, both red and yellow copper.
Where did you two get so much copper?
Sheng Xiping was quite curious. Could it be that he had secretly gotten these two bear-like creatures from somewhere again?
"These are what we collected when we were collecting scrap metal. The school only accepts scrap metal, not the copper, so we just knocked it off."
Sheng Xikang looked up and noticed that his older brother's expression was a bit off. He was quite puzzled, since they hadn't done anything bad lately.
"I heard from Shuguang's classmates that this copper can be sold for money."
Brother, since you're going to Songjiang River anyway, why don't you take all this copper with you and help us sell it?
"It should fetch a good price, which will be perfect for buying notebooks and pens." Sheng Xi'an looked at his brother expectantly.
They had been saving up for a long time and were looking for an opportunity to sell them. Since their older brother was finally going to Songjiang River, they had to seize the opportunity.
There was no other way; they were still in school and couldn't take time off to sell copper.
"You two are really good at thinking things through. I'm going to deliver firewood, and I also have to help your Sister Zhou load the truck and saw the wood. How am I supposed to have time to sell copper for you?"
Sheng Xiping rolled his eyes.
These two are really cunning. With all this copper in his hands, how can he possibly have time to sell it?
This thing is so heavy, he can't carry it around all the time, can he? Where does he put it when he's working?
"Brother, I've already found out. Right outside the Sentie Railway Station, there's a copper purchasing station on the roadside that buys all sorts of medicinal herbs, mountain products, and the like."
"You only need to spare a little time then, and you can sell them."
Sheng Xikang was confident; he had already found out the truth, otherwise he wouldn't have mentioned it to his elder brother.
Sheng Xiping choked on his words. Well, these two brats had already figured it out long ago.
"Then you two sort through the copper, separating the brass from the purple copper."
The prices of brass and copper are different. The purchasing stations only care about buying; they don't have time to sort them.
Sheng Xiping is very busy, how could he have time to carefully select copper piece by piece?
Upon hearing this, Sheng Xikang and his companion realized there was hope and immediately became excited.
"Okay, okay, brother, you go ahead with your work, we'll pick something out now."
As long as my brother agrees to help sell it, what difficulty is there in picking out this little bit of copper?
So the two of them found some tools and squatted down in the yard to pick through the broken copper pieces.
They finished choosing their food shortly afterward, just as Zhang Shuzhen called them to eat.
The two quickly put the copper away, washed their hands, and ate.
After breakfast, Sheng Xiping found a basket and put all the copper coins his two younger brothers had picked out, along with a change of clothes and some food, into the basket.
After tidying up, he called out to Chen Weiguo across the garden cane.
Chen Weiguo also came out of the house, and the two of them went out separately, heading straight to the east end of the forest farm.
Halfway there, they met up with Gao Haining, Tang Fengying, and Zhou Qinglan.
Zhou Qinglan naturally went along to help carry firewood for their own family, while Tang Fengying was just there to join in the fun.
Her wedding date with Gao Haining is set for the end of October. This trip to Songjiang River is to prepare things for the wedding.
It's convenient to have Zhou Qinglan with me.
The group arrived at the internal combustion engine parking spot, where Wang Jianshe, Zhang Zhijun, and Pan Fusheng were already there.
The three of them were also carrying their own things, with two chainsaws and a large bucket of oil at their feet.
The regulations have been less strict in recent years. As long as it doesn't interfere with production or damage the chainsaw, individuals can borrow the chainsaw to cut firewood or something similar.
Wang Jianshe's father was a chainsaw operator on the construction team, so borrowing two chainsaws wouldn't be a problem.
At 7:30, the drivers of the internal combustion engine and the tractor arrived. After grouping the vehicles together, everyone sat in the cabs of the internal combustion engine and the tractor respectively.
The driver started the car, and the internal combustion engine towed the tractor and the firewood behind it, heading straight for Songjiang River along the small train line.
The journey from Qianchuan Forest Farm to Songjiang River is about 70 or 80 li (approximately 35-40 kilometers). If the internal combustion engine is driven a little slower, it will take about two hours to get there.
When we passed a checkpoint along the way, we saw a truckload of timber being pulled behind an internal combustion engine, so we stopped it for inspection.
Sheng Xiping showed the other party the transport permit issued by the forest farm, and after verification, the other party allowed the passage smoothly.
Before 10 o'clock, the group arrived at the Sen Railway Station.
The internal combustion engine left the diesel train behind it on the outermost track, then pulled the tractor forward, heading straight for the machine repair shop.
After Sheng Xiping and his team finish unloading the truck and the tractor is inspected and returned, they will haul this section of the trolley back.
