Chapter 376 Chen Feng is back

Hearing Sheng Xiping's commotion, the other party looked over and saw Chen Ruiqing and his son Chen Feng.

"Uncle Sheng." Chen Feng didn't react at first, but after he came to his senses, he rushed towards Sheng Xiping.

"What are you doing here? We were just about to take a car to Qianchuan Forest Farm." Chen Feng hugged Sheng Xiping's waist and wouldn't let go.

Sheng Xiping raised his hand and patted Chen Feng's head.

"Hey, it's been half a year, you've grown taller. What brings you all here? Why didn't you write a letter in advance? If I had known you were coming, I would have come to pick you up earlier."

Since Chen Feng left with his parents, he has maintained contact with the Sheng family, writing letters here every now and then.

He especially corresponded with Sheng Xitai, with whom he exchanged the most letters.

That's why Sheng Xiping said, "Why didn't you write a letter to let me know beforehand?"

"Xiaofeng is on summer vacation and he's been crying and begging to come over. I happened to be in the county town to take care of some business, so I dropped him off on the way."

"I didn't expect to run into you here. What have you been up to?" Chen Ruiqing walked over with a smile and explained to Sheng Xiping.

"Oh, that forest farm is dismantling logs; some of the logs can be used as firewood."

My father-in-law lives in Songjianghe, right? It's inconvenient for him to collect firewood, so I brought him a lot of firewood.

I was just about to take a bus back to the forest farm today, and it was such a coincidence that I ran into you all here.

Sheng Xiping put his arm around Chen Feng and smiled at Chen Ruiqing.

"How are things at home, brother? Are your wife and Xiaoyue'er alright?"

"Yes, everything is fine. Xiaoyue originally wanted to come along, but her mother was worried that I wouldn't be able to take care of two children by myself."

Furthermore, Yue'er has never been separated from her mother since she was little, and we're worried that she won't have enough room if she comes over. She might cry and make a fuss about going back, causing you all trouble.

Chen Ruiqing walked up, shook hands with Sheng Xiping, and smiled.

At this moment, Sheng Xi'an and Sheng Xikang also came over and greeted Chen Ruiqing.

Chen Feng ran over and hugged his second and third uncles. Half a year apart hadn't affected their relationship; Chen Feng remained very close to the Sheng family.

The group chatted on the platform for a while, while the little train, having been refueled with coal and water, pulled into the station.

The car door opened, and everyone quickly got in. The Chen father and son were carrying a lot of things, and it was quite a hassle to carry all those bags and packages.

Upon seeing this, Sheng Xiping quickly helped carry two of them. "Chen Feng, what did you bring? So much!" Sheng Xiping couldn't help but ask after they got in the car.

"There are things I bought for everyone, and also my change of clothes."

"I plan to stay at home until school starts, Uncle, you won't refuse to take me in, will you?" Chen Feng asked Sheng Xiping with a grin.

"What are you saying? We'd be happy for you to come back and live here. Why would we take you in? What, are you some kind of kitten or puppy?"

Sheng Xiping laughed when he heard this. This child is becoming more and more like his past life, shamelessly clinging to him without any respect for elders.

The little train traveled towards Qianchuan Forest Farm, and everyone on board was chatting and laughing, making it quite lively. Before we knew it, we arrived at our destination.

After getting off the car, Sheng Xiping and his brothers helped carry the things. They got off the car together with Chen Ruiqing and his son, and the five of them headed towards the Sheng family home.

Chen Feng was eager to see the Sheng family, so he abandoned Sheng Xiping and Chen Ruiqing and ran ahead.

"Grandma, Uncle, Xinhua, I'm back!" Chen Feng shouted as soon as he reached the gate of the Sheng family's house.

When the Sheng family's dog heard Chen Feng's commotion, it didn't bark but wagged its tail and whimpered.

The dogs still remember Chen Feng; this is them trying to curry favor with him.

It was hot, and the windows were all open. Zhang Shuzhen and Zhou Qinglan were making a small quilt.

Zhou Qinglan is over seven months pregnant and not far from giving birth. Taking advantage of the summer vacation, the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law are thinking about preparing everything for the baby.

Originally, Zhou Qinglan said that there was no need to make another small quilt; the one Sheng Xinhua had made before would be fine.

But Zhang Shuzhen wouldn't allow it, saying that Sheng Xinhua liked his little quilt and needed to cover himself with it regularly. If the second son used it, Xinhua wouldn't have anything to use.

Just a few days ago, Sheng Xiping bought a lot of fabric, and there was also cotton at home.

Zhang Shuzhen said that the double-layered quilt could be skipped, but a cotton quilt was a must. The second child couldn't just take everything from his older brother.

The mother-in-law and daughter-in-law had just finished quilting the cotton when Zhang Shuzhen was sewing a quilt with needle and thread. Suddenly, she heard this noise outside and almost pricked her hand with the needle.

"Xiaofeng? Is Xiaofeng back?"

At this moment, Zhang Shuzhen couldn't care less about sewing the quilt. She threw down the needle in her hand and turned to look out the window.

Then a child wearing a white shirt and blue pants ran in from outside the gate. Who else could it be but Chen Feng?

"Oh my, it's really Xiaofeng back!" Zhang Shuzhen exclaimed happily, quickly putting on her shoes and heading outside.

"Grandma, I'm on summer vacation and I'm coming back to stay for a while. Do you miss me, Grandma? I miss you so much."

Chen Feng threw himself into Zhang Shuzhen's arms and said excitedly while hugging her.

"I miss you, Grandma misses you too," Zhang Shuzhen said, her eyes reddening.

How could you not miss a child you've raised for so long if they suddenly leave?

Every time Chen Feng wrote back, Zhang Shuzhen would have Sheng Xitai hold the letter and read it aloud over and over again.

"Oh dear, how did you get back? Who brought you back?" Zhang Shuzhen looked towards the gate and, not seeing anyone, quickly asked.

“My dad brought me here. He’s behind me, with my uncle.”

Chen Feng casually pointed behind him. "Grandma, where's my aunt? Is Uncle home? Where's Xinhua?"

"Your aunt is inside. Your uncle went out to play right after breakfast this morning. He didn't have any homework this summer, so he's been running wild."
