Chapter 333: Mother and Child Bear

During breakfast, Sheng Xiping asked the third brother, who said that the little black bear wasn't very big.

That makes sense; if they were bigger, those students wouldn't be seen as puppies.

So it must have been born to the mother bear in winter while she was in her den. At this point, the cubs are not very big, and may not even be out of the lactation period yet.

With such a little one in tow, the mother bear must be walking slowly, plus she still has to find food.

Therefore, Sheng Xiping estimated that they should not be too far from the mother bear now.

As they were talking, a mountain breeze blew by, and along with the wind, a faint "creaking" sound could be heard.

Sheng Xiping's expression hardened, and he immediately put the water bottle into his shoulder pocket. Then he stood up from the ground and looked towards the top of the mountain.

"Xiping, what's wrong?" Liu Chunlai asked from the side.

"I think I heard the black bear calling out, it's over there on the other side of the mountain."

Sheng Xiping and his group were currently halfway up the mountain, not far from the summit.

The sound wasn't very loud; it seemed to be coming from the wind. Sheng Xiping judged that the sound must have come from the Gangliangzi area.

"Huh? I didn't hear anything?" Liu Chunlai was completely bewildered. Was there any noise from the black bear just now?

"The sound wasn't loud, and it was different from the usual call of a black bear. It sounded like it had encountered something and was frightened."

Sheng Xiping frowned, deep in thought.

That noise just now should have been the sound of a black bear crying out; to be precise, it was the sound a black bear would make when it was frightened.

At that moment, another "cough" sound came from the wind.

The sound was faint from a distance, but Sheng Xiping was certain it wasn't the same bear from before. It seemed there were two bears on the other side of the mountain.

Without saying a word, Sheng Xiping started walking up the mountain. "Don't make a sound, be careful, and keep up."

The last sound was louder, and the others heard it too.

Perhaps because of the distance, I didn't experience that tingling sensation on my scalp or a chill down my back.

So when Sheng Xiping said to follow, these people immediately perked up and quickly followed Sheng Xiping up the mountain.

Generally speaking, there are many clear forests on the mountain, while the valleys and ponds at the foot of the mountain are particularly noisy.

They were all strong and healthy young men, so climbing the mountain wasn't too difficult for them. Before long, they reached the ridge at the top of the mountain.

At this moment, the creaking sound became even clearer.

Sheng Xiping stood on the mountain and looked down. Below was also a clear, lush forest. Not far to the east, two dark figures, one large and one small, were running through the forest towards the west.

The mother bear in front, while running, kept looking back and letting out a very sharp cry, urging the blind bear cubs behind her to run faster.

The little blind bear behind was also screaming, but it was too small, and even if it ran for its life, it couldn't run fast.

The mother bear had to stop and turn back to help her blind cub.

Just then, there was another "cough," and Sheng Xiping felt a tingling sensation on his scalp.

This is a physiological reaction, and even an experienced hunter like Sheng Xiping would react involuntarily.

As for the security guards behind him, some of them were so frightened by the shout that their legs trembled.

If he hadn't been holding onto the tree trunk, he probably would have fallen to his knees.
