Sheng Liancheng was right. In such a large forest, Hua Hua must have hidden in a very secluded place to give birth to her cubs.
Sheng Xiping ventured into the mountains aimlessly, searching without a clear purpose. Even if he spent several days, let alone an afternoon, he might not find it.
"Listen to your dad's advice and stay home. Hua Hua is a tiger; what dares to mess with her?"
"Maybe it will come back with its pups in a couple of days," Zhang Shuzhen added, trying to persuade it.
What his parents said made sense; in truth, Sheng Xiping wasn't entirely sure he could find Hua Hua.
In the end, Sheng Xiping could only sigh helplessly, "I hope Huahua can give birth to the baby smoothly, sigh."
The Sheng family was worried about Tiger Flower, but at that moment, Flower was running towards the mountain near Nuanquanzi.
That's Huahua's hometown; her nest is in a stone cave on the mountaintop.
On the way, Hua Hua also killed a roe deer and carried it back as food for the next two days.
As soon as they arrived near the warm spring, Hua Hua suddenly smelled the scent of a ferocious beast.
The other party seemed to have noticed Hua Hua's presence, so it let out a roar and challenged Hua Hua.
Normally, Hua Hua would never forgive this guy who dared to trespass on its territory.
But she's about to give birth, so how could she have the energy to fight with the other party?
So Hua Hua swallowed her anger, went around the hill in front of her, took a big detour, and returned to her residence from the other side.
Hua Hua was about to give birth, and then she ran a long way back from the forest farm, which severely depleted her energy.
After returning to the secluded cave on the mountaintop, Hua Hua, enduring the discomfort in her abdomen, ate half of the dead roe deer to replenish her strength before giving birth.
On the other side, on a mountain next to Nuanquanzi, there was a huge brown bear.
After letting out several roars, the creature, receiving no response from the tiger, began to wander around the mountain.
Find ant nests to eat ants, go to streams to find fish, or search the mountains for tree roots and fruits to eat.
Back at the forest farm, none of the Sheng family members slept well that night, worried about Hua Hua.
Sheng Xiping tossed and turned all night, and finally couldn't resist when he woke up in the morning. After breakfast, he asked for leave from the farm, slung his gun over his shoulder, and took his dog to the mountains.
"Xiping, where are you going?" Unexpectedly, as soon as he stepped out the door, he ran into Gao Haining and Wang Jianshe.
“It seems Hua Hua went back up the mountain to give birth. I’m a little worried and want to go look for her,” Sheng Xiping said directly, without hiding anything.
"Where are you planning to look? This mountain is so big." Gao Haining's words were the same as Sheng Liancheng's.
“I was thinking of taking a walk around Nuanquanzi. That’s where we found it, and we’ve run into it there several times since. I guess its den is probably in that area.”
Sheng Xiping pondered for a long time and roughly deduced that Huahua should be around Nuanquanzi.
There is a water source and a rich variety of species over there. There are large areas of rocky ponds on the mountain, which are suitable for tigers to live in.
“Then wait a bit, we’ll go with you. You can’t go up the mountain by yourself without someone to look after you,” Wang Jianshe said immediately upon hearing this.
"Yes, yes, don't go into the mountains by yourself. What if you encounter any danger? Wait for us for a while, go back and change your clothes and come back."
Gao Haining and the others echoed this sentiment.
So the group immediately turned around and went home, where they changed their clothes and packed some dry food.
Sheng Xiping borrowed two more guns from the security department, and the group, along with six dogs, entered the mountains, heading towards Nuanquanzi.
Sheng Xiping and the others had a very clear purpose in going into the mountains today: to find Huahua.
So no matter what Erlang Shen and the others smelled along the way, Sheng Xiping didn't let go of the rope, but went straight to the destination.
As soon as they arrived near the warm spring, Erlang Shen and the leopard simultaneously barked and called out towards the front.
Sheng Xiping thought to himself, since they've already come all this way, they can't just leave empty-handed.
Since we've spotted prey, let's go check it out and kill two birds with one stone, without delaying anything.
Who knows, maybe Hua Hua will come out on her own when she hears the dog barking.
"Weiguo, Haining, unleash the dogs." As soon as Sheng Xiping spoke, the men almost simultaneously untied the leashes from the dogs' necks.
Erlang Shen and the leopard rushed out first, followed by General Hei with Fat Tiger, Zhaocai, and Wangfu. The dog ran very fast and disappeared in an instant.
Sheng Xiping and his men, carrying guns, quickly followed.
The group had run less than a mile when they suddenly heard a loud roar from afar—the sound of a bear.
Sheng Xiping's heart skipped a beat. Something was wrong. The sound seemed quite far away. The dog shouldn't have arrived yet. What was going on? What had the bear encountered?
Just then, another tiger roar came from afar. Sheng Xiping and the others felt their scalps tingle and a chill ran from the back of their tails to the back of their heads.
"Oh no, it's Hua Hua! Hua Hua must have run into a bear! Let's go!"
This area is all Hua Hua's territory. Except for the winter mating season when male tigers come, there can't be a second tiger at other times, so the one making the noise must be Hua Hua.
At this time, Hua Hua should have just given birth to her cubs not long ago. If she encountered a bear, the chances of her survival would be slim.
Thinking of this, Sheng Xiping became extremely anxious and took off running. Chen Weiguo and the others quickly followed.
The group ran forward for a while and then saw Erlang Shen and the leopard stop ahead, not continuing forward.
Needless to say, it must have heard the tiger's movements and hesitated a bit.
"Come on, let's hurry up and help Hua Hua." Sheng Xiping came to the dogs, patted Erlang Shen and the leopard on the head, and said.
