Their relationship caused quite a stir in Qianchuan Forest Farm at the time. They went through many ups and downs before finally getting together.
Chen Weimin recruited workers ahead of time and arranged for them to work in the trade union, while Lin Junhua worked in the processing plant. Unexpectedly, the two met again because of a cultural performance.
"Brother Xiping, come and sit down."
Chen Weimin was introverted and shy, and had no experience interacting with girls. Sitting next to Lin Junhua, he felt his face getting hot and didn't know where to put his hands.
So when he saw Sheng Xiping coming over, Chen Weimin quickly invited Sheng Xiping to sit down and started talking to him.
"Weimin, thank you so much. Without your help, our processing plant wouldn't have been able to put together such a great program." Sheng Xiping sat down and smiled at Chen Weimin.
"Comrade Lin, your contribution is also part of why our factory's program won first place today."
"You wouldn't believe it, the moment you opened your mouth on stage, Chairman Zhao from the labor union stared wide-eyed, praising your singing nonstop."
Sheng Xiping nodded to Lin Junhua and praised him.
"No, it's all thanks to Teacher Chen's excellent guidance." Lin Junhua smiled, his gaze involuntarily drifting towards Chen Weimin.
"Factory manager, are you just praising those two? What about us? We also contributed!" The other young people chimed in.
Most of the people present are from the forest farm and are of similar age. They were quite familiar with each other when they were sent-down youth teams, and now they work together in the processing plant.
On ordinary days, everyone worked diligently in the factory, and in their spare time, they would often get together to chat and laugh. No one treated Sheng Xiping as an outsider.
"Yes, yes, everyone contributed and deserves credit. Lunch is all you need; we'll add more food if needed."
However, there's one thing: we still have to go to work this afternoon, so for safety's sake, we won't drink any alcohol.
"I'll invite you all to my house for dinner during the Chinese New Year holiday, and we'll have a good time drinking."
Working in the processing plant is not easy; sawing hands is a very dangerous job, and accidents can easily happen if you're not careful.
Therefore, the processing plant strictly prohibits employees from working under the influence of alcohol. Sheng Xiping is the factory director, and he must take this matter seriously in terms of safe production.
"Understood, thank you, Brother Xiping," everyone said in unison.
As they were talking, the food window announced that the food was ready, and several women immediately got up to serve the dishes and meals.
Before long, six dishes and a soup were served, and the staple food was steamed cake made from two kinds of flour.
They were all young people, and after a busy morning, they were hungry, so they started eating.
Lin Junhua sat next to Chen Weimin and noticed that Chen Weimin was using his left hand to pick up food with chopsticks, worried that he might not be able to reach the food that was far away.
So she helped Chen Weimin pick up food and get steamed cakes, taking care of him in every way.
"I can manage on my own, really. I'm used to it, I can do anything by myself. Thank you," Chen Weimin said hurriedly, looking embarrassed.
"Oh, okay, then if you can't reach it, just tell me."
Lin Junhua is an outgoing and generous person. Hearing Chen Weimin say this, he smiled and continued eating his meal.
They were all young people who didn't drink, so they ate quickly, and soon the food on the table was almost finished.
After lunch, the group returned to the processing plant, chatted and laughed for a while, and then continued working.
On November 2nd, the new year's winter transportation production officially kicked off.
Starting this year, there will be no need for workers to be stationed on the mountain.
Apart from the staff on duty guarding the tractor depot, winch depot, and generator depot, all other workers on the mountain take a commuter bus to work at 5:30 in the morning.
As for what time we get off work in the evening, that's uncertain; it all depends on how quickly we finish the work on the mountain.
Sometimes, the production team hadn't finished loading the trucks and was working through the night by torchlight, so they had to wait a while.
Sometimes, when the original vehicle breaks down, the commuter buses that pick people up and drop off at get off work can't get on the line, and they have to wait for the original vehicle to be repaired and the line to be cleared before they can pass.
In such situations, it usually gets very late, and the people on the mountain have no choice but to walk back along the railway in the dark, braving the wind and snow, even when they're hungry.
It was quite late when I got home, and I still had to go to work as usual the next day.
Previously, the last procedure for the work team was clearing the forest, where the clearing workers would gather and stack the remaining logs.
Now that there are processing plants, there is an extra step before the forest is cleared.
The male workers at the processing plant would sift through the logging residue, picking out and sorting out anything that could be sold.
Regardless of size or whether it's a tree stump or a branch, all cork is cut off and fed into a chipper. After being crushed, it's packed into sacks, and once enough is collected, it's transported to the paper mill.
As long as the length and diameter of the hardwood pieces meet the requirements, they are all cut into pieces, stacked, and then towed back to the processing plant using a trolley or tractor.
Process what can be processed, and sell the rest as purlins, car posts, seaweed stakes, etc. Basically, focus on one thing: make the most of logging by utilizing the leftovers.
After the processing plant team finishes cleaning up, the forestry workers will do a final tidying up, leaving basically only hardwood branches and twigs.
In the past, logging waste could be sold cheaply to workers as firewood, but nowadays, this waste is really not very useful.
They piled them up, waited for them to dry completely, and then set them on fire.
Of course, Sheng Xiping still felt a pang of regret looking at the leftovers; they should all be put to good use.
But figuring out how to utilize it is a bit of a headache.
These hardwood remnants, if stored for twenty or thirty years, would be excellent for making machine-made charcoal, pellet boards, or biomass pellets.
However, such technology does not exist yet. Sheng Xiping knows nothing about mechanical manufacturing, and he does not have the ability to study these things.
