The two sows were promised to the person who covered Sheng Xiping's shift, and that some meat would be left for him, and Li Zhenggang would also get some.
Of the rest, Sheng Xiping kept only one piece of pork loin, and gave the rest to Wang Jianshe and the others to divide up.
The Sheng family has plenty of food; there's plenty in the storeroom. Let's give more to Wang Jianshe and the others to use for the New Year.
Sheng Xiping didn't want the pig's head and offal either; he gave them to Chen Weiguo and the others.
Sheng Xiping kept the remaining wolves and didn't give them to anyone else.
He wasn't after the wolf meat; he mainly wanted the wolf pelts, which he could keep for his own use, give as gifts, or sell.
Chen Weiguo and the others mainly wanted to have some meat to eat during the New Year. Since they had received more meat, they naturally wouldn't ask for the wolf skin anymore.
And so, everyone worked until nearly ten o'clock, finally managing to clean up the pigs and wolves. Each person carried or shouldered their share of the meat home.
"No need to get up early tomorrow. We can stay home and rest in the morning. At noon, we'll go into the mountains for a stroll. If we encounter anything, we'll shoot it. If we don't, we'll set a trap."
Before leaving, Sheng Xiping discussed things with everyone.
Several dogs were injured and could not go into the mountains continuously, so they could only go hunting and setting traps.
"Okay, we'll do whatever you say." Everyone agreed without hesitation and went home.
Sheng Xiping also quickly cleaned up all the meat, separating the meat for human consumption and the meat reserved for feeding the dogs, and put it into large vats in the warehouse.

He didn't even take off his clothes, but lay down on the small kang (heated brick bed) in the security office and fell fast asleep.
In the middle of the night, the people on duty woke Sheng Xiping up. They went out for a patrol, found nothing unusual, and went back to sleep.
I slept soundly until dawn before finally staggering home.
Ultimately, youth brings good physical strength and energy. Despite being exhausted yesterday and not sleeping well last night, Sheng Xiping is still quite energetic.
After breakfast, Sheng Xiping first went to Li Zhenggang's house and brought him a piece of good meat and a wolf skin.
He also told Li Zhenggang that the two guns should be left for now and returned before the Chinese New Year.
Turning back, Sheng Xiping gave the person who was switching shifts with him another six or seven pounds of meat. For the next few days, Sheng Xiping worked the night shift.
After finishing all that, Sheng Xiping went home and carefully cleaned up the wolf pelts, scraping off the grease, then turned them over and nailed them to the wooden planks of the barn to air dry.
If you're keeping it for your own use, you'll have to use medicine to tan the hide, and then you can make it into a coat, a hat, or even a mattress—all good things.
If you're going to sell it, you don't need to cook it properly; you can just take it to a recycling station and sell it there.
