Chapter 281 Tiger Cub
If the mountain king were still alive, even if he were injured, the dog's barking would allow him to pounce and kill the leopard in one bite.
But at this moment, only the barking of dogs could be heard in the rocky pond; there was no response from any other animals.
Sheng Xiping guessed that the tiger was either already dead, or severely injured and on the verge of death.
So, Sheng Xiping and the other two, each carrying a gun, carefully walked forward until they came to a large rock.
Then, everyone discovered that behind the big rock, there was a brightly colored tiger with its belly ripped open and a lot of food eaten, and many large flies were swarming around it.
Judging from the situation, the tiger has probably been dead for more than a day.
"The mountain king is really dead? Wow, was that bear really that powerful? That's unbelievable."
Wang Jianshe and Chen Weiguo hurriedly stepped forward, waving away the annoying flies, and then examined the area closely.
"Good heavens, this tiger's belly has been completely ripped open, and they've eaten a lot of its internal organs and meat. Xiping, what should we do?"
Sheng Xiping looked at it and sighed, "Let's just take the bones and not the meat. We'll take them back with us."
The tiger cub should be a month old now, but it's still too small.
Despite being only one year old, Bi Wan is remarkably intelligent. When Chen Weiguo asked it to find something, it would sniff around everywhere.
“Build, Weiguo, they’re picking bones over there. You can wander around. There aren’t any big tiger cubs around there yet.”
"Okay, let's do it their way. If anyone asks later, we'll say we searched all morning and found everything."
Keep them all, either to sell or to make medicinal liquor for your father.
The group dug a pit underground, placed the tiger meat and tiger skin outside the pit, and weighed it down with some stones and other things.
This tiger seems rather small. Is it a cub or a leopard? Chen Weiguo had a sudden thought and quickly looked at the tiger's upper abdomen.
The two sons didn't say anything, and Zhang Shuzhen also felt a surge of anger, so she could only vent her frustration on the dough pieces in her hands.
"We can afford to raise it, but we have to take it back first, otherwise it will starve to death. Let's talk about it when we get back. It's better to let someone else raise it."
Finally, Bi Wanshuang pulled out a large creature from outside the cave. It was smaller than a cat, with pale yellow and light white fur all over its body. It was shaking its little head and hissing at Chen Weiguo with its mouth open, making a frightening noise.
In those days, tigers were not to be trifled with. Only if a tiger injured a person or livestock would the local production team or commune report it down, or at most, it would be reported to outside the county.
Only after approval from outside the county can we organize people to hunt tigers. Hunting tigers without following the proper procedures is absolutely possible.
Never mind that, let's eat something first.
As Zhang Shuzhen spoke, she turned her guns on her seventh and eighth sons, launching a barrage of criticism at them.
Leopards will fight to the death with other animals to protect their cubs, and brown bears only managed to kill leopards because they didn't take advantage of the leopards' protective instincts.
Those things are easy to find, but even if you do find them, the people around them will come up with trouble. If tiger bones become more and more common, and everyone has some kind of ailment they'd like to find, it will be very difficult to find them.
Upon arriving at the destination, all eight of them breathed a sigh of relief.
As for tiger bones, those were confiscated.
The entrance to the cave was rather small, but it was quite deep outside. Bi Wanshuang put in a lot of effort, reaching out and slowly pulling the big thing out of the cave, and even getting scratched by it a few times in the process.
"Dad, Mom, what do you think you caught?" Bi Wanshuang's voice came through, seemingly tinged with excitement.
Chen Weiguo, carrying the tiger cubs and leading the mother tiger, returned to the place where the tiger's carcass had been found.
That was a leopard. If we calculate it that way, it got pregnant in July. The gestation period for tigers is 107 days, so it would give birth in August.
"Damn it, we're finally home. You must be exhausted today," Wang Jianshe muttered, then straightened the sack under his shoulder and carried it up the earthen slope.
Sheng Xitai had seen tiger cubs before and thought it was a cat, he said with a smirk.
Of course, they could only think those words in their minds; they certainly dared to say them out loud.
He urged the seventh and eighth brothers to hurry up and start a fire to boil water so they could cook dumplings in a little while.
“Fool, this is a tiger cub. Look at the fur under its body, the stripes, and it doesn’t have any stripes under its forehead, although they’re a bit faint.”
"He'll give you lots of useful stuff, but be careful you don't try to control him."
Fine, let Mom nag all she wants, we'll just pretend we heard it.
It's more useless to have money left over if you don't have any bad things left behind.
"Hey buddy, did they find the tiger cub? They only caught the adult tiger cub?"
I had been back down the mountain since morning, and it was already late morning. I hadn't eaten yet, so I was starving.
We're going to stop her? Don't we have the authority to stop her? My mom is really something, always changing her mind.
Although the news could be kept secret, and no one else could know, as long as the Sheng family denied it, others would still have a way to find out.
As I walked along, I noticed that the fighting area was very small.
Bi Wanshuang hurriedly arrived at the back of the stone cave and tried to look out. Sure enough, she saw two bright green spots, which should be the eyes of the tiger cub.
Sheng Xitai and Chen Feng were playing outside in the yard when they saw the two dogs return and quickly called out towards the outside.
Upon hearing this, Sheng Liancheng nodded. "You heard them all? You should tell them not to gossip outside, and not to spread rumors about our family matters."
How come they're so easy to take care of every single day?
Using tiger bone soaked in alcohol to treat legs is absolutely ineffective. Who would want to keep something so harmful for their own use?
Luckily, all eight of us had brought some dry rations, so we found a place to sit, took out the rations, fed some to the two dogs, and ate the rest ourselves.
