Chapter 389 Going Home

Erlang Shen was harassed by Sheng Xinhua and could not escape; he could only silently endure it.

Just then, footsteps approached, and Erlang Shen immediately recognized them as Sheng Xiping, wagging his tail and starting to whine.

When Erlang Shen choked up, the other dogs started barking too.

Zhang Shuzhen was also in the yard. As soon as the dog barked, Zhang Shuzhen heard it, put down what she was doing, looked outside, and saw Sheng Xiping coming in carrying large and small bags.

"Oh my, why are you back at this hour? Did you get a ride?" Zhang Shuzhen hurriedly went to greet him and took the things from her son's hands.

On the other side, Sheng Xinhua, who was petting the dog, immediately let go of his father's paws and ran towards Sheng Xiping when he saw his father return. "Daddy, hug me."

Sheng Xiping quickly put down what he was holding, then bent down and picked up his eldest son.

"Xinhua, Dad has been away for so long, do you miss him?"

"Yes, Xinhua misses Daddy." Sheng Xinhua nodded obediently, then leaned over and kissed Sheng Xiping on the cheek.

"Oh, Xinhua misses his dad. Has Xinhua been good at home? Has he been naughty?"

Sheng Xiping's heart melted instantly. He leaned over and kissed his son's soft little face, asking gently.

"Good boy, you weren't naughty." The little guy is clever; no matter who asks, he always says the same two sentences.

Sheng Xiping was talking to his eldest son when Sheng Xinyu, who was in the big flower basket, seemed unhappy. He threw away the ball in his hand and started yelling at Sheng Xiping and the others.

As he kept calling out, a clear "Dad" came out of his mouth.

"Oh my, Xinyu can call me 'Dad' now." Upon hearing this, Sheng Xiping picked up the eldest child and ran to the second child, putting the eldest down and opening his arms to the second child.

"Xinyu, call me Daddy, call me Daddy, and Daddy will hug you."

At just over seven months old, Sheng Xinyu is at the age where he is starting to speak, and many of his syllables are probably uttered unconsciously.

I was so anxious when I saw my dad holding my brother that I shouted it out.

Now that his father has put his older brother down, the little guy isn't in a hurry anymore. He tilts his head, grins, and smiles at Sheng Xiping.

Sheng Xiping was amused by his youngest son's smile, reached out and took his son out of the flower basket, and kissed his son's cheek.

"Xinyu, call me 'Daddy' again. Daddy brought back lots of delicious food. Do you want some?"

Before Sheng Xinyu could respond, Sheng Xinhua was already anxious, "Dad, eat, eat something delicious."

Sheng Xiping laughed heartily, picked up his second son, reached out and lifted the heaviest package on the ground, and carried it into the house.

Then she put Sheng Xinyu on the kang (a heated brick bed), turned around and came out, took the two bags from Zhang Shuzhen's hand, and the mother and son went into the house together.

Sheng Xiping rummaged through his pocket and took out a box of pastries he had bought in Shanghai. He unpacked it, took out one piece and handed it to Zhang Shuzhen, and then took out another piece and gave it to Sheng Xinhua.

"Thank you, Dad." Sheng Xinhua happily took it, sat down at the end of the kang (a heated brick bed), and took a big bite, taking off half of it.

When Sheng Xinyu saw his father giving his older brother something delicious, he got hungry too, so he held his father's hand and looked up at Sheng Xiping.

"Dad, Dad." The child was so eager for food that he called out "Dad."

"Oh dear, we've raised two foodies in our family! They'll call us 'Dad' just for food, huh?"

Upon seeing this, Sheng Xiping took out another piece, broke off a small portion, and fed it to Sheng Xinyu.

Sheng Xinyu started eating steamed egg custard and millet porridge when he was about five months old. Now he can eat more things, so it's okay to give him a little snack.

The pastry was fragrant and sweet, a taste that Sheng Xinyu rarely experienced. The little guy's eyes widened immediately, and he waved his little hands wildly with joy.

"Mom, you should try it! I bought this near the City God Temple in Shanghai. There are so many people queuing up there. You should try it."

Zhang Shuzhen held the pastry but didn't eat it; she just smiled and looked at her grandson. Sheng Xiping saw this and said...
