Chapter 482 Being Kicked Out
"Brother, my grandpa kicked me out. If you don't take me in, I'll be homeless." Wu Yucheng pleaded on the other end of the phone.
"What the hell? Grandpa chased you out?"
"What stupid thing have you done this time that made Grandpa so angry that he'd kick you out?" Sheng Xiping simply didn't believe it.
This kid is trying to fool people. Old Wu may be old, but he's not senile. How could he possibly kick his grandson out of the house during the Lunar New Year?
"Where are your uncle and aunt? Didn't they say a single good word for you?"
"They're all in cahoots. Just because I didn't go on blind dates, they ganged up on me and kicked me out," Wu Yucheng said miserably.
"You deserve it, you deserve to be taught a lesson. You're thirty years old and still not married. It's right to kick you out." Sheng Xiping said irritably.
"Tell Aunt Li to make you something to eat first, and I'll drive over to pick you up right away," Sheng Xiping said before hanging up the phone.
"Brother, let's go down and meet him," Sheng Xiping called out to Zheng Hua.
After leaving the headquarters, the two went to the forest farm's main warehouse, asked for two barrels of oil, filled the car, and then Sheng Xiping drove Zheng Hua straight to Songjianghe.
When they arrived at the Sheng family's house, Aunt Li had just finished preparing the meal. As soon as Wu Yucheng saw Sheng Xiping and Zheng Hua come in, he quickly greeted them.
Wu Yucheng was so hungry his eyes were practically glowing green. He didn't even care about drinking anymore and just kept eating with his head down.
Wu Yucheng acted as if this was his home.
Sheng Xiping opened three bottles of wine and placed them in front of the three people. "We still have to drive back later, so let's not drink too much. One bottle each, and that's it."
"Come on, come on, try the fish that Aunt Li made. I brought this fish back from Harbin before the New Year. It's delicious." Sheng Xiping put a large piece of fish on each of their plates.
"Serves you right, showing off like that, driving all the way here yourself. Why didn't you just fly here?" Sheng Xiping said irritably.
He had just seen it; there was a car parked in front of his house. It was Wu Yucheng's car in the capital.
"My goodness, how long have you been starving?" Zheng Hua couldn't help but ask curiously.
The journey was filled with hardship and tears, and even Wu Yucheng, a grown man, felt incredibly wronged when he thought back on it.
Oh dear, you have no idea how miserable I've been these past few days. Not a single restaurant has been open along the way.
Unable to find a place to eat, he could only open a box and eat a couple of bites.
And you know what? As soon as they heard that, they were so welcoming that they invited me to stay, at least to have a hot meal.
Aunt Li went to the outer room and got a few bottles of beer and three glass teacups, and then found a bottle opener in the drawer.
If I fly to Changchun, I'll still have to take the train here, so I might as well drive.
"Come on, it's Chinese New Year, let's have a drink together, the three of us. Happy New Year!"
I drove here to buy some groceries, but there wasn't a single restaurant open along the way, so I had no choice but to eat some snacks.
"It's Chinese New Year, and it's even harder to find a hotel. Oh dear, don't even mention it," Wu Yucheng said with a grin.
This young master has probably never suffered like this since birth.
Only after he felt more at ease did he pick up his cup and have a drink with Sheng Xiping and the others.
We'll be driving back to the forest farm later, so we can't drink baijiu (Chinese liquor), but a bottle of beer won't be a problem.
"Auntie, do you still have some beer at home? Bring me a few bottles, I'll have some with the two of them."
"Later I remembered what my brother had said before: once you cross the Shanhaiguan Pass, you'll be home, and you can find a place to eat anywhere."
Sheng Xiping had Zheng Hua sit in the passenger seat of Wu Yucheng's car to give directions, while he drove ahead to lead the way.
Wu Yucheng's car was filled with a lot of things, all gifts for the Sheng family, including a snack box.
The dogs, including Leopard and Fat Tiger, were old and lethargic, and they also realized that Sheng Xiping had brought people back, so they lay in their dens without making a sound.
The three of them ate and chatted until a little after 2:30. After finishing their meal and resting for a while, they packed their things, went out, and drove back home.
Driving is actually faster, but it's tiring, especially since I'm alone and no one is taking over for me.
I offered them money, but they refused and even asked me to stay at their house for one night.
"I wanted to buy a plane ticket, but then I realized you don't have an airport here."
The three clinked glasses, took a sip of wine, and then started eating.
"Don't even mention it. I had breakfast at home yesterday morning, and right after I finished eating, my grandfather got angry because of the blind date, and he kicked me out."
The person had already arrived, so what else could be said? Sheng Xiping could only glare at Wu Yucheng, then call Zheng Hua to sit down and have something to eat together.
The three people and two vehicles returned safely to Qianchuan Forest Farm.
Tell people you're just passing through and can't find a restaurant, ask if you can eat there, and you'll pay them.
"Yes, there's a box in the outer room. I'll take it right away."
I looked and it was already past eight o'clock. I was starving, and since I happened to be passing through a town, I found a house to stay with.
Sheng Xiping and Zheng Hua exchanged glances, both holding back their laughter.
Wu Yucheng and Zheng Hua naturally had no objections, so they each picked up a wine bottle and poured wine into their glasses.
"Brother, come quick! Aunt Li has made a lot of delicious food, eat up!"
Wu Yucheng hadn't eaten for several meals. Seeing the table full of food in front of him, he didn't care about anything else and just started eating.
"I had no other choice. I got up before five this morning, left some money, and the bird quietly flew away. Now I can finally eat."
Wu Yucheng parked the car and started carrying things out of the back seat. Zheng Hua saw that there were quite a few things and came forward to help. The two followed Sheng Xiping into the Sheng family home.
