Chapter 507 Being Watched
On the first day of the resumption of border trade after the Lunar New Year, most people went to the island with large and small bags to trade and contact customers.
Only Tengyue Trading Company, with its massive fleet of vehicles, delivered goods here wave after wave, like a tidal wave.
At first, people on the shore would go over and ask around to find out whose goods they were.
Later, everyone simply stopped asking. Judging from the way it looked, they knew it was Tengyue, so there was no need to go over and ask.
Those middlemen were overjoyed; if Tengyue had goods, they could make money.
While others eat meat, they drink the soup and still make a good living.
So the middlemen swarmed around, inquiring about prices and discussing how to distribute the goods.
For a time, the riverbank was exceptionally lively, and Wang Dongcheng and the others were extremely busy.
Not far away, several groups of people were staring at the long line of trucks and the mountains of goods piled up on the dock.
"What do you think? Tengyue is not only doing very well in Heihe, but their company in Shenzhen is even bigger."
"Have you found out yet? Whose goods are those?"
"I refuse to believe that all of us combined are no match for that kid Wu Yucheng!" The leader snorted.
Everyone else has to go to the big island to trade and find customers, waiting anxiously, while they just stand by the river and their goods are delivered. It's so damn enviable!
On the other side, a dozen or so people wearing coats with their coats open and hats not properly on, shrugging and shaking their legs, were crossing their arms and glancing sideways at the bustling scene in front of them, which resembled a vegetable market.
At this time, Sheng Xiping was unaware that his company had been targeted.
Even a powerful dragon can't suppress a local snake. We're in the open, they're in the shadows. Do you think a simple fight can solve this? You fool.
"We're new here, so we can't be too careless."
"Brother Jun, what should we do now? Tengyue is the only dominant player right now, we can't compete with them," someone next to him asked in a low voice.
Wu Yucheng, that kid, has really made it big these past few years. You wouldn't believe how many old men praised him when he went home for Chinese New Year.
Upon hearing this, the kid with the scar on his face immediately became displeased, glaring at him with a fierce, almost aggressive look, as if he might start a fight at the slightest provocation.
I chatted with those middlemen for a while, and I heard that Tengyue Company came here when border trade opened last year and made a lot of money, probably tens of millions.
"Let's go. There's nothing much to see here. We need to get down to business. Tell them I'm treating them to dinner at the Longjiang Hotel. Anyone who doesn't come is disrespecting Fourth Brother."
"What the heck? We're treating them to dinner? Are you kidding me? We're in Heihe territory, so they should be the ones treating us."
One person returned from the crowd and approached the group of people, muttering to himself.
"I guess they're just out-of-towners doing business. Just an ordinary person."
"Chunping is right. In free trade, everyone can rely on their own means."
"Brother Jun, I just inquired and found out that these are all goods from Tengyue Company."
We spend our days dealing with permits and licenses, making a measly 100,000 or 200,000 yuan, and that's considered a small achievement. Meanwhile, some people make tens of millions a year.
"Damn it, in this wretched little place like Heihe, who the hell dares to 'fly'? I'll kill him."
The skinny man shook his head; he had asked around, but no one knew.
Liang Ge's face turned red with anger. These idiots were really annoying to look at.
"Stop trying to boost their morale. How come you can't compete with them?"
"I refuse to believe it. With such a huge daily trade volume in border trade, how could Tengyue possibly monopolize it all?" someone nearby scoffed.
A skinny man standing nearby hurriedly spoke up, "I found out that all these goods delivered today belong to a company called Tengyue Trading Company."
"Damn, how do we make money? Brother Liang, we have to take him down. We can't let someone else make this money."
Liang threw the cigarette butt in his hand on the ground, stomped on it, and then left the riverside dock with his men.
"Brother Liang, I just asked around, and they all said they didn't know much about it. It seems like they're just in business, and I haven't heard of any special background."
The leader was quite tall, with sunglasses perched on his nose, exuding an arrogant and conceited air. His words also revealed a hint of resentment.
"Damn it, so many trucks, so much cargo, how much money are they going to make?"
No wonder Fourth Brother said that border trade is lucrative, like picking up money off the ground, and that he sent us here to scout things out—it's really damn profitable!
Upon hearing this, everyone around stared in disbelief.
"Get lost, shut up your skills. You think the martial arts world is just about fighting and killing? You don't use your brain at all."
Five or six of them were dressed quite elegantly, wearing wool coats, plaid scarves, military-style shoes, and black leather gloves. Their trousers were pressed perfectly straight, exuding a sense of superiority from head to toe.
"Here's what we'll do: send a message to those local groups, telling them I'm treating them to dinner tonight," Brother Liang said after a moment's thought.
Holy crap, how did they do that? Today is the first day of border trade.
"They're all from the same compound, how come this kid is so lucky?"
Liang Ge glared at the skinny monkey with a look of disgust. How could he have been so stupid as to bring such an idiot along?
A man with a scar on his cheek spat on the ground and muttered curses.
Among the group, one person, who had a more refined appearance and was dressed more formally than the others, spoke up and asked a question.
No matter how tough we are in Harbin, we still need to be careful in Heihe.
"Bullshit, could an ordinary person build a business this big? Do you think the locals in Heihe are pushovers? Do you think they'd leave such a huge piece of fat meat right in front of them and not take a bite?"
