The party day was a highlight.
Pei Xiaoxing's parents are at home.
"Aunt, Uncle." I called them first.
They were greeting the students in our class enthusiastically, and when they heard my voice, they quickly said, "Xingxing is here. We kept asking you to come and play, but you didn't come. Stay here tonight. Your room has been cleaned up. Your house hasn't been cleaned up for half a year. It's not comfortable to live here."
The other students looked at us curiously. The master was surprised that Pei Xiaoxing and I were related.
After learning last year that Pei Xiaoxin’s mother was indeed a member of our old family, Diandian and I asked my father about it. My father said that not only did he know Pei Xiaoxing’s mother, but the two families were also very familiar with each other.
Especially Pei Xiaoxing's grandparents, they are now the right-hand men of my mother's business in her hometown.
Later, when my father came here to work, he took the time to visit their house and acknowledged the relationship.
I think it’s probably for the convenience of having someone to take care of me here.
Everything went smoothly at the beginning of the party. We didn't know how Pei Xiaoxing was going to deal with the class monitor who kept spreading dirty rumors about her.
There is another point that I have not figured out. Pei Xiaoxing's family conditions are not bad. Even if she lied and admitted that she was Pei Yuanzheng's daughter before, she wouldn't let the squad leader who has always been on good terms with her give it to you directly, right?
So is there some hidden reason behind the monitor's sudden change in attitude?
Soon I had no time to think about these things. Pei Xiaoxing's father asked everyone to sit at the long table. Portions of steak, pasta, vegetable salad and soup were placed in front of us from the kitchen.
Pei Xiaoxing's father spoke first, and he simply thanked everyone for taking care of their child over the past year. The meal was mainly to express his gratitude and apology.
The students who had never eaten Western food used the knives and forks awkwardly. At first, some of them might have felt a little embarrassed, wondering if Pei Xiaoxing was deliberately humiliating them because of the previous rumors.
But later they found that many of their classmates didn’t know how to do it, and everyone was learning slowly, so they all calmed down.
It seems that this is not a humiliation, but a real opportunity for them to learn Western table manners.
They imitated the students who knew how to do it, and soon they learned how to cut steak with the knife in the left hand and the fork in the right hand, becoming more and more flexible.
After the meal, desserts, fruits and various drinks were already placed on the tables around.
Perhaps because they were all students, Pei Xiaoxing's father did not prepare any alcohol, not even low-concentration alcohol.
The long dining table had just been cleared when Pei Xiaoxing's father said that some guests had arrived and he would excuse himself for a while, asking us to help ourselves.
"Fourth brother, your parents and brother are here. Do you want to go and meet them?" Pei Xiaoxing walked over to me and took my hand. Although there was still no expression on his face, his tone of voice sounded gentle.
Even my parents were called over. Pei Xiaoxing's parents are really generous. They can do this for a daughter. Pei Xiaoxing should no longer say that her parents don't love her, right?
I walked out with her. The classmates around us didn't realize what was about to happen. They were delighted that the desserts on the table were all brands they had heard of but were reluctant to buy after weighing their wallets.
A small piece costs twenty or thirty yuan. It’s not that I can’t afford it, but it’s not worth spending so much money for such a small appetite.
After welcoming Dad, Mom and Diandian in, Pei Xiaoxing's father kept talking to my dad about something.
I could see some impatience in my father's expression, but he tried his best to hold it back.
He likes to keep public and private matters separate, and does not want his relatives and friends to talk about their cooperation during their daily leisure time, as this would make him feel very uncomfortable.
Pei Xiaoxing's father was interrupted by my mother while he was talking nonstop. "Let's talk about the children first. We are here for the children's sake."
Only then did he realize that something was wrong, and he quickly changed the subject to us with a smile.
They seemed to have understood the whole story clearly. In the past, my mother might have asked me to stay away from Pei Xiaoxing. After all, she didn't like those vain children.
But during this semester, I said a lot of good things about Pei Xiaoxing when I called her, so she should have a good impression of Pei Xiaoxing now.
Then came the highlight. Almost everyone in the class knew my father. After all, Pei Xiaoxing had been "vain" for the entire semester last semester under the guise of my father.
Even if you didn't know who Pei Yuanzheng's classmate was, you would still pay attention to the news or economic newspapers.
After seeing my father in person, many classmates were shocked. They didn't know what was going on. Could it be that the new rumor in the school was true? Pei Yuanzheng's daughter was indeed in their class, but she was not Pei Xiaoxing?
No matter what they were thinking, when they heard that my father had specially invited them to meet, those classmates' faces were filled with excitement.
After all, he is a celebrity that I have heard of and followed for a long time.
He shared some of his experiences in society with my classmates, and many of them said they benefited a lot. This gathering almost turned into his symposium.
Finally, at the end, my father brought up the matter of his real and fake daughter.
"I have always felt that, regardless of whether one is rich or poor, one's moral character must start from the same level. There are poor people whose character cannot be changed by poverty, and there are rich people whose character is rich and kind. Poverty and wealth are not the criteria for measuring a person's moral character."
