Chapter 100

Chapter 100

Mu Qingxuan dialed the Huo family's phone number as quickly as possible.

The person who answered the phone was Cui Lirong.

"Mom, it's me."

The moment Cui Lirong heard the voice, she exploded: "Qingxuan?! Is that you, Qingxuan?"

Huo Changfeng searched the entire state-owned hotel but couldn't find the person.

He followed the road back home from the state-owned hotel and searched little by little, but there was no sign of Mu Qingxuan.

I thought Mu Qingxuan had gone home by herself, but when Huo Changfeng returned home, he still didn't see Mu Qingxuan.

He was completely panicked.

The news of Mu Qingxuan's disappearance for no apparent reason spread throughout the Huo family.

Huo Jianye also drove to look for someone, leaving only Cui Lirong and Wang Ma at home, hoping that Mu Qingxuan would come back by herself after a while.

Cui Lirong had been waiting for news in the living room, anxious as an ant on a frying pan, unable to sit still.

Mu Qingxuan could hear Cui Lirong's worry, and she didn't want to make her even more worried, so she didn't tell her directly what happened tonight.

She said vaguely: "Mom, I encountered an accident..."

Before she finished speaking, Cui Lirong's heart suddenly tightened and her nails dug deep into her palms: "Accident? What accident? Are you hurt?"

She was so anxious that her voice changed tone, and tears rolled down her cheeks and dripped onto her clothes.

Before Mu Qingxuan could answer, a sharp brake sound suddenly broke through the night sky.

Cui Lirong hurried to the window and saw a black car parked crookedly at the door.

The car door was pushed open suddenly and Huo Changfeng staggered out.

His clothes were wrinkled, his collar was askew, his tie was missing, and there was a big hole in his cuffs.

There was a cut on his exposed arm from somewhere, and blood was flowing out of it.

The hair on Huo Changfeng's forehead was soaked with sweat and stuck to his face in a messy manner. His pale face looked particularly terrifying under the moonlight.

He rushed up the stairs in two steps.

He was panting, his eyes full of panic and anxiety, his voice was hoarse as if it had been rubbed by sandpaper: "Mom, is Xuanxuan home yet?"

His chest heaved violently, and every word seemed to be squeezed out from the depths of his throat. His hands were tightly gripping the door frame, and his knuckles turned white.

In Cui Lirong's red eyes, tears were about to fall on her eyelashes, and her turbid eyes were fixed on Huo Changfeng's tense profile.

She lifted the receiver tremblingly, her knuckles turning white from excessive force, and the telephone cord left deep marks on her palm: "It's Qingxuan's call..."

Huo Changfeng's pupils flickered and he rushed forward.

He snatched the phone from Cui Lirong's hand and asked anxiously, "Xuanxuan, where are you?"

As soon as the receiver touched his ear, a suppressed sob escaped from Huo Changfeng's throat.

Mu Qingxuan's voice with a slight nasal tone was like a ball of cotton soaked in water, gently pressing on his aching heart.

Mu Qingxuan reported her location truthfully: "Changfeng, I'm at the police station on Zhongshan Road in the north district of the city."

"Changfeng, I'm at the police station on Zhongshan Road in the north district of the city."

Huo Changfeng's knees suddenly went weak and he had to hold onto the edge of the table to barely stand.

"wait for me."

His voice was so hoarse that it was almost unrecognizable, and his Adam's apple rolled violently as he swallowed back all the panic.

The moment he hung up the phone, the coil left a deep indentation in his palm.

"Mom, I'll go right away."

Cui Lirong suddenly grabbed his wrist, and the cold touch made Huo Changfeng tremble all over.

His miserable appearance was reflected in his tear-filled pupils.

Cui Lirong's voice kept trembling: "Be careful on the road. If you meet your father, remember to ask him to come back."

Huo Changfeng nodded.

The moment she hung up the phone, Mu Qingxuan's fingertips were still trembling slightly on the receiver.

She turned her face away and gently wiped the moisture from the corners of her eyes with her sleeve, but when she lowered her head she caught a glimpse of the mud on the hem of her shirt.

Those were the marks left by falling into the gutter while escaping.

Mu Qingxuan sniffed and looked up at the policewoman, a little embarrassed: "I'm sorry to have embarrassed you."

"Comrade, don't mind."

The female police officer took off her police hat, revealing her neat short hair, with undisguised concern in her eyes.

She pulled a clean handkerchief from her pocket and handed it over.

"It's normal for you to react now when you encounter something like this."

The notebook was spread out on the table, with the tip of the pen hovering over the paper.

The female police officer adjusted her sitting position, and the hem of her police uniform made a slight friction sound: "Can you tell me what happened now?"

Her voice was as gentle as if wrapped in a layer of thin cotton, and she seemed to be trying hard to ease Mu Qingxuan's tense emotions.

Mu Qingxuan curled up her cold toes, and the cold sweat on the back of her neck slid down her spine.

She did not hide anything and told him directly what happened to Mu Qianqian in the state-owned hotel.

The policewoman paused as she wrote, her face full of surprise: "Comrade, do you mean that Mu Qianqian knocked you out with a handkerchief?"

Mu Qingxuan pondered and said, "I can't confirm it directly, but it is true that I suddenly fainted after meeting her."

The female police officer took a breath and asked, "Then what is the relationship between Mu Qianqian and you...?"

A cold light flashed in Mu Qingxuan's eyes: "She is my biological sister."

The policewoman was completely stunned. She never expected such a thing would happen between sisters.

She wrote down everything in the notebook and motioned for Mu Qingxuan to continue.

Mu Qingxuan let out a deep breath.

From the jasmine scent in the restroom of the state-owned restaurant, to the sickening smell of rot in the warehouse, to Wang Saner's drunken grin.

Her narration was so calm that it was almost mechanical: "Fortunately, I met that police comrade in the end, and he helped me completely subdue that man."

The female police officer smiled and said, "Officer Lu is a recently retired soldier, and he has very good fighting skills."

The clock in the recording room showed ten-seventeen.

After taking the statement, the female police officer poured Mu Qingxuan a glass of warm water.

She said, "Comrade, please take a rest first. I will hand in the transcript first."

Mu Qingxuan looked at the policewoman's back as she walked away quickly, her fingers unconsciously stroking the warmth of the cup.

The incandescent lights in the police station corridor were buzzing, making the leaves of the green radish in the corner wilt.

Suddenly, the sound of hurried footsteps broke the silence in the room.

Huo Changfeng stepped into the police station and looked around the station anxiously.

Finally, the moment he saw Mu Qingxuan sitting on the bench with her back to him, his pupils suddenly contracted.

The light from the ceiling shone on Mu Qingxuan. There were mottled stains in the folds of her shirt and her hair was scattered messily on her shoulders, but she was still so beautiful that it made people's heart tremble.

His Adam's apple rolled with difficulty.

The next second, he strode forward.

Mu Qingxuan was startled by the sudden movement, and before she could react, she was hugged into his arms.

Huo Changfeng's hot body temperature could be felt through his thin clothes.

His arms tightly wrapped around Mu Qingxuan's waist, as if he wanted to rub her into his bones and blood.

"Xuan Xuan!"
