Chapter 6

Chapter 6

Mrs. Huo was actually shocked by Mu Qingxuan's aura for a moment. She hesitated for a moment and nodded: "This is the military order you signed yourself. If something goes wrong later, don't blame me for being ruthless."

"Auntie Wang, just watch from the side."

She gave Aunt Wang a few more instructions with concern before turning around and leaving.

Mu Qianqian was not disappointed even though her plan failed.

She just wanted to plant a seed of doubt in Mrs. Huo's heart.

In Mu Qianqian's understanding, before Mu Qingxuan got married, she was pampered by the whole family and had never entered the kitchen.

After getting married in her previous life, she was the wife of the richest man and had a bunch of nannies serving her at home, so it was impossible for her to learn how to cook.

Therefore, in Mu Qianqian's opinion, Mu Qingxuan's calmness at this moment was all pretended.

A paper tiger can't scare people.

The only thing Mu Qianqian had to be wary of was that Mu Qingxuan bribed Wang Ma to cook for her, and then lied that it was Mu Qingxuan who cooked.

So, she stared at Wang Ma and said, "Wang Ma, this is a test from grandma to my sister, please don't help her."

The smile on Wang Ma's face froze, and a faint anger arose in her heart.

Is this doubting her work attitude?

"Don't worry, I know my limits."

Mu Qianqian didn't notice the anger in Wang Ma's eyes at all. She glanced smugly at Mu Qingxuan who was finding fault with her, then left with the braid on her shoulder.

Mu Qingxuan took in everything that had just happened. There was a gentle curve on the corner of her mouth, and the corners of her full lips were upturned, with her lips red without any makeup.

"Mother Wang, please don't be offended. My sister is spoiled at home and sometimes speaks in a way that is a bit capricious."

"Why don't you go out and have a rest? I can handle the rest by myself, so that no one will suspect you again."

Compared to Mu Qianqian's impoliteness, Mu Qingxuan's attitude seemed to soothe the wrinkles between Wang Ma's brows.

"It doesn't matter. I've been cooking at the Huo family for more than ten years. The old lady knows my cooking skills very well. When the time comes, you'll know whether it's mine or yours after taking a bite."

The implication is that with Old Madam Huo around, there is no way Aunt Wang would help Mu Qingxuan cheat.

Mu Qingxuan nodded, "Then I'll trouble you, Aunt Wang."

Aunt Wang took the initiative to help cut vegetables. She glanced at Mu Qingxuan in surprise and thought of Mu Qianqian again.

The two are clearly sisters, but their temperaments are completely different.

Mu Qianqian seems gentle and considerate, but her words are always sharp, making people feel uncomfortable.

Mu Qingxuan was more beautiful than the main actors in the art troupe, but she was not arrogant at all and was very kind to her nanny.

But Mrs. Huo obviously likes Mu Qianqian more, which is really confusing.

Mu Qingxuan had no idea what Wang Ma was thinking. She was concentrating on preparing the ingredients.

Considering that Mrs. Huo and her family usually don’t eat spicy food, she cooked a pot of light fish head soup and fried a few side dishes.

When she and Wang Ma brought the sumptuous dishes to the table, Mr. and Mrs. Huo had just returned home from get off work.

Mu Qingxuan raised the corners of her lips: "Dad, Mom."

Cui Lirong waved her hand and asked her to sit down: "It's really hard for you to cook such a large table of dishes by yourself."

As soon as she got home, she heard about tonight's test from Aunt Wang.

According to Cui Lirong, there is no need for this at all.

She had been married into the Huo family for so many years, but she had very few opportunities to actually cook. Anyway, the family had a nanny, so she didn't have to do anything.

But Cui Lirong knew in her heart that these were rules set by Old Lady Huo for the new daughter-in-law, so she did not object too much.

Mu Qingxuan shook her head: "It's not hard, Mom, try the food first to see if it suits your taste."

Cui Lirong took a look around, picked up a boneless chicken foot, and just as she put it into her mouth, her eyes suddenly lit up.

“It tastes really good, even better than the ones in state-owned restaurants.”

Mu Qingxuan finally let go of her worries, "As long as you like it."

Turning around, she met Mrs. Huo's critical gaze again. Mu Qingxuan filled a bowl of fish soup and handed it to her.

The fish soup is milky white with just a few chopped green onions as garnish, and it smells fresh and delicious.

Old Mrs. Huo's eyebrows moved slightly. She tentatively picked up the spoon and took a sip with a look of shock.

This fish soup was unexpectedly delicious!

"You did a good job." Old Mrs. Huo spoke awkwardly, deliberately avoiding Mu Qingxuan's gaze, as if she was embarrassed to say this.

Mu Qingxuan smiled.

It seems that this test has been passed.

Seeing that the Huo family had been conquered by Mu Qingxuan's cooking skills, Mu Qianqian's eyes were filled with disbelief.

Without thinking, she blurted out: "Auntie Wang, did you secretly help my sister?"

The originally warm atmosphere was instantly broken and everyone stopped eating.

Wang Ma frowned, and before she could speak, Cui Lirong took the initiative to say, "This is not the taste that Wang Ma can make."

She stared at Mu Qianqian quietly. She didn't know why, but from the first moment she saw this girl when she entered the door, she inexplicably felt a sense of disgust in her heart.

It was as if the two of them had some grudge in their previous life.

Mu Qianqian met Cui Lirong's eyes and her body shook uncontrollably.

Her mind couldn't help but recall her past life, when Cui Lirong pushed her head into the pool and called her a jinx who had brought bad luck to Huo Changfeng.

Even if he were to live his whole life again, certain memories would still remain deep in his soul, causing Mu Qianqian to tremble with fear just by being glanced at by Cui Lirong.

Cui Lirong keenly noticed Mu Qianqian's abnormality and became even more impatient.

Old Mrs. Huo also felt that Mu Qianqian's current appearance was a little unpresentable, but when she thought about the fact that Mu Qianqian had accompanied her the entire day, telling her stories and massaging her shoulders, her heart softened.

She put her hand on the back of Mu Qianqian's hand and asked caringly, "Qianqian, are you feeling unwell?"

Mu Qianqian's shoulders twitched, and she pinched her thigh with her other hand, and tears suddenly welled up in the corners of her eyes.

"I, I'm fine. Grandma, I just wondered, if my sister's cooking skills are so good, why have I never seen her go into the kitchen before at home?"

"There is a lot of work to do at home, especially during the busy farming season, and there is no one available to help. If my sister had told me in advance that she could cook, I could have saved the time to cook and went to the fields to help at home."

As she spoke, Mu Qianqian raised her head with tears in her eyes and looked at Mu Qingxuan: "Sister, cooking a meal doesn't take much time. It won't interfere with your studies."

Mu Qingxuan's eyes darkened.

With just a few words, Mu Qianqian portrayed her as a person who was lazy and idle while the whole family was busy.

Sure enough, as soon as Mu Qianqian finished speaking, Mrs. Huo's expression changed.

Mu Qingxuan lowered her eyes and spoke softly, "Qianqian, you said that cooking doesn't take much time, so why do you stay in the kitchen all day long? Why don't you help your parents?"

The smile that Mu Qianqian had just spread froze on her face in an instant, and she hurriedly explained: "I was..."
