Chapter 56 Mother Lu Leaves
The days flow silently like a gurgling stream. That afternoon, the family sat in the living room, and the warm sun shone through the window, casting mottled shadows on the floor.
Mother Lu took a sip of tea and spoke slowly: "I plan to go back to Beijing tomorrow. This time I came mainly to send Aunt Chen and Aunt Lan over. I thought I could help you share some of the chores in life. Now that the task is successfully completed, I should go back to work!"
Lu Tingxiao was slightly startled, then he put down the book in his hand and looked up at his mother: "So urgent? Why don't you stay a few more days?"
Mother Lu smiled and waved her hand: "No, there are still many things waiting for me to deal with at the hospital! You two can live a good life here. With Aunt Chen and Aunt Lan taking care of you, your father-in-law and mother-in-law will rest assured!"
Jiang Ruoxi quickly held Mother Lu's hand, her eyes full of reluctance: "Mom, your coming has made the house much more lively. You haven't been here for long, why are you going back!"
Mother Lu patted the back of Jiang Ruoxi's hand gently and said tenderly, "Silly child, it's not like I won't come back. When you give birth, I will come with your mother to accompany you and take care of you during the confinement period!"
Lu Tingxiao seemed to be thinking about something. After a moment, he said, "Since your vacation is over, we won't try to keep you here. We can't delay your work just because we don't want you to leave. I'll take you to the train station tomorrow so you can travel more safely!"
Mother Lu nodded and agreed: "Okay, I'll do whatever you say! I've seen you two being so affectionate these past few days, and I'm so happy!"
As she spoke, she looked at the two of them with loving eyes, "Ruoxi, you are pregnant now, so let Tingxiao do the heavy work, and leave the rest to Aunt Chen and Aunt Lan!"
Jiang Ruoxi smiled sweetly: "Mom, don't worry, Tingxiao will respond to my requests. If there is anything, I will definitely look for him. If not for anything else, I also want to think about the baby in my belly!"

It was still dark, and the night outside the window was as thick as ink. Lu Tingxiao got up very quietly, fearing that he would wake up Jiang Ruoxi who was still sleeping soundly.
He tiptoed out of the bedroom and went to the kitchen, where he checked carefully and confirmed that Aunt Chen and Aunt Lan had prepared the ingredients for the porridge as he had instructed. Only then did he feel at ease to drive the car over to the camp.
Lu Tingxiao drove the car to the door. After a while, Mother Lu came out. Aunt Chen helped Mother Lu put the luggage in the car before saying goodbye to her.
Lu Tingxiao's car drove smoothly on the quiet street. The street lamps emitted a dim light, stretching the shadow of the car body very long.
Sitting in the passenger seat, Lu's mother looked at her son who was concentrating on driving, her heart filled with emotion.
"Tingxiao, you have to be nice to Xixi. It was not easy for her to get pregnant and give birth to your child, not to mention that she is pregnant with twins!" Mother Lu warned worriedly.
Lu Tingxiao tilted his face slightly, raised the corner of his mouth, and revealed a gentle smile: "Mom, I will. Xixi is willing to get pregnant and bear a child for me, and I will definitely not let her down. I will definitely treat her well!"
"Just keep it in mind. I won't say much. If you have any questions, call us!"
When we arrived at the train station, the sky was already turning pale. Lu Tingxiao helped Mother Lu move the luggage out of the car, and then carefully reminded her, "Mom, be careful on the road, and call me when you arrive!"
Mother Lu nodded, her eyes full of reluctance and relief. She raised her hand and gently patted Lu Tingxiao's shoulder, then turned and walked into the station.
Lu Tingxiao stood there until his mother disappeared into the crowd, then he turned around and went back into the car.
When he got home, he tiptoed into the kitchen and saw Aunt Chen and Aunt Lan were busy making millet porridge and boiling eggs.
He whispered, "Thank you for your hard work. Xixi likes to drink softer millet porridge. Don't put too much oil in the omelet. Add some chopped green onions to the omelet. My wife likes it!" Aunt Chen and Aunt Lan agreed with a smile.
Lu Tingxiao came to the bedroom again and sat quietly beside the bed, looking at Jiang Ruoxi's sleeping face.
Her eyelashes trembled slightly, and there was a faint smile at the corner of her mouth, like a quiet and lazy kitten.
Lu Tingxiao gently stroked the hair that was scattered on her cheek, his eyes full of affection.
Time passed quietly. At seven o'clock, Jiang Ruoxi woke up slowly. In a daze, she saw Lu Tingxiao sitting beside the bed, looking at her tenderly.
"You're awake," Lu Tingxiao said softly, his voice hoarse in the early morning, "You can sleep a little longer, breakfast isn't ready yet!"
Jiang Ruoxi rubbed her eyes and sat up. "When did you come back? I didn't even feel it!"
Lu Tingxiao gently scratched her nose. "You're sleeping like a pig. I don't want to wake you up. Do you want to get up?"
"Well, get up, don't sleep anymore!" Lu Tingxiao helped Jiang Ruoxi get up, "Let's go, go wash up, breakfast will be ready soon, all your favorites!"
The two came to the restaurant, and the morning light shone through the thin curtains and gently fell on the dining table in the restaurant.
On the dining table were steaming millet porridge, golden omelettes and perfectly cooked eggs. Jiang Ruoxi felt a warm feeling in her heart as she looked at them.
"Tingxiao, it's great to have you!" Jiang Ruoxi looked up at Lu Tingxiao, her eyes sparkling with emotion.
Lu Tingxiao sat down beside her and said gently, "As long as you are happy, it's fine. But today's breakfast was not made by me, but by Aunt Chen and Aunt Lan. Come and try it and see if it suits your taste!"
Lu Tingxiao sat next to Jiang Ruoxi, his posture relaxed but with a hint of unconscious concentration. Jiang Ruoxi scooped a spoonful of millet porridge, which was soft, sweet and warm to the heart.
His slender fingers rested casually on the edge of the table, but his eyes were fixed on Jiang Ruoxi's every move, as if everything around her had become a blurred background and she was the only focus of the world.
Jiang Ruoxi lowered her head slightly, concentrating on eating the egg pancake on the plate. She gently picked up a small piece with her slender fingers, put it in her mouth and chewed it carefully. Occasionally, some pancake crumbs would get on the corners of her mouth. She looked very cute.
Seeing this, Lu Tingxiao's eyes instantly softened. He naturally reached out his hand and gently wiped the residue from the corner of her mouth with his fingertips. His movements were as gentle as if he was treating a rare treasure.
"Is it delicious?" Lu Tingxiao asked in a low and magnetic voice, filled with endless doting.
Jiang Ruoxi raised her head, met his affectionate gaze, raised a sweet smile at the corner of her mouth, and nodded heavily, "Well, it's delicious, you try it too!"
As she spoke, she picked up a piece of egg pancake and handed it to Lu Tingxiao's mouth. Lu Tingxiao leaned closer and ate it from her hand. While chewing, his eyes were still glued to Jiang Ruoxi's face. The love in his eyes was so strong that it seemed to overflow.
The two of them ate breakfast in this warm atmosphere, occasionally talking in low voices. Their laughter echoed in this small space, full of sweetness and happiness.
After breakfast, Lu Tingxiao took Jiang Ruoxi's hand and walked to the window. The sunlight shone through the window onto the two of them, giving them a layer of golden light.
Lu Tingxiao gently hugged Jiang Ruoxi and whispered in her ear: "I want to accompany you like this every day from now on!"
Jiang Ruoxi leaned in his arms, a happy smile on her face: "You don't have to go to work anymore, and you still accompany me every day!"
"Wife, today is a day off, so I can spend the whole day with you!"
Jiang Ruoxi slapped her forehead and said, "Oh, I forgot. No wonder people say that pregnancy makes women stupid for three years. I am confused now!"
"Wife, stop taking pictures. I'll be sad if you break them. I see the weather is nice today, so I'll take you to the department store to buy some things for the kids!"
"Okay, go tell Aunt Chen and the others that we won't be coming back for lunch. Let's go to the state-owned restaurant!" Jiang Ruoxi asked Lu Tingxiao to tell Aunt Chen and the others.
"Okay, I'll go tell them and we'll go!"
