She turned around and pointed to the room on the west side, whose door was tightly closed and had a large lock on it: "Captain, is anyone staying in this room?"
"What's wrong? Can't you fit in the middle room?"
Ding Daguo said unhappily, "I'll stay wherever you're told!"
"Someone died in this room on the west side, that's why it's locked..."
Li Wang appeared out of nowhere and said something sinister.
Su Ruyi knew, of course.
Although she only stayed at the educated youth settlement for a week, she still got a basic understanding of the situation.
Two years ago, a female educated youth hanged herself in this room on the west side. The news couldn't be kept quiet, and it was locked up afterwards.
"Can I stay in this room on the west side, Captain?" Su Ruyi asked again.
"What a family of stubborn fools!"
Ding Daguo spat, "If you want to stay, then stay, but don't come crying to me in the middle of the night asking to change rooms! Once you move in, you're not allowed to move out again!"
“Okay!” Su Ruyi said, stepping aside.
Ding Daguo, cursing, took a bunch of keys from his waist, tried a few, and opened the door.
Suddenly, a chilling, dusty smell filled the air.
Ding Daguo stepped back and said, "Alright, go pack up! Li Wang, keep an eye on her!"
After saying that, he turned to Shen Heping with a friendly smile and said, "Comrade Shen, if you need anything, just come to the brigade headquarters to find me! I can handle it, no questions asked!"
Shen Heping smiled and thanked him again, while stuffing a pack of good cigarettes into Ding Daguo's pocket.
Ding Daguo didn't even make a gesture of refusal.
He glared at Su Ruyi and her brother again, then turned and strode away.
