Chapter 17 Willfulness

"Fourth Brother, have you lost your mind? You want me to secretly marry him without his family knowing?!"

Hearing this, Su Ruyi became even angrier. "I know you think you're doing this for my own good, but I can't suddenly marry someone I don't even know!"

Although Su Tong's intentions were good, Su Ruyi still felt deeply humiliated.

Moreover, she went to the countryside with a grand plan for revenge, so how could she marry her eccentric son for the sake of comfort?

“Ruyi, don’t be angry. He Ping’s family background is more than a match for you. His character is absolutely impeccable—your fourth brother guarantees it with his life,” Su Tong explained softly.

Is this a question of whether it's genuine or not, or whether it's truly effective or not?

Su Ruyi continued to glare at Su Tong.

But suddenly, she saw deep worry in his eyes.

She swallowed the hurtful words that were about to spill from her mouth, and instead said softly, "Fourth Brother, I really can take care of myself, and I also want to rescue Fifth Brother from the jaws of death. You believe me, okay?"

"Ruyi, don't be willful. Listen to your fourth brother. He would never harm you."

Ji Xuchang interjected, "Your brother Changzi guarantees with his life that Shen Heping is a good man. Marry him, and you'll be happy for the rest of your life!"

Seeing that the others were unmoved by her words, Su Ru could only stand up.

She held out her hand to Shen Heping: "Give me your hand."

Shen Heping extended his hand without hesitation, while smiling.

Su Ruyi gripped his hand tightly, as if shaking hands, and began to exert force.

Shen Heping tensed up, clearly beginning to endure the pain, and the smile on his face disappeared.

However, he remained expressionless and did not withdraw his hand.

"Ruyi, what are you doing?!" Su Tong asked.

"Let him give up."

Su Ruyi answered, then looked at Shen Heping, her voice steady, "Aren't you going to beg for mercy?"

A thin layer of sweat had already seeped onto Shen Heping's forehead. He gritted his teeth and uttered two words through clenched teeth: "Continue!"

Su Ruyi increased her strength.

Shen Heping kept his mouth tightly shut, but managed to squeeze out a sound: "Didn't you eat?! Is that all the strength you have?"

Su Tong said, "Ruyi, stop fooling around, let go!"

Su Ruyi glared at Shen Heping, and Shen Heping also looked at Su Ruyi.

She increased the force again.

"Crack!" A sound of bone breaking rang out, and at the same time, Shen Heping let out a muffled groan.

Su Tong gently patted Su Ruyi on the back: "Ruyi!!!"

Su Ruyi finally let go.

“I understand, you are very strong. But going to the countryside isn’t something that can solve all the problems just by being strong.”

Shen Heping covered his right hand with his left, his face contorted, but he still tried to speak calmly, "You are just a young girl, inexperienced and unaware of the wickedness of people. I know young girls care about their pride, but please seriously consider marrying me."

Su Ruyi said, "No need to think about it, I'm definitely going to the countryside."

"It seems you won't give up until you hit a brick wall. Here's what we'll do: my suggestion will remain valid."

Shen Heping pondered for a moment and said, "However, after you go to the countryside, it will probably be difficult for you to come back for a while. If you can't stand it, write to your brother and I will try to find a way to bring you back. It will probably take at least a month or two, and you'll have a lot of suffering to endure."

Su Ruyi looked at his face seriously for the first time.

Shen Heping was very handsome, with a kind of naive and upright air about him, typical of children from a military compound.

Su Ruyi sighed, "Thank you! You should go to the hospital right away."

Shen Heping nodded: "Let's go now."

Ji Xuchang glared at Su Ruyi, then helped Shen Heping leave.

At the dinner table, only Su Tong and Su Ruyi remained, along with a pile of crab shells.

They stared at each other, wide-eyed.

After a long silence, Su Tong sighed, "Alright, I'll start preparing your things for going to the countryside tomorrow. But, Ruyi, you'll definitely regret this."

Su Ruyi said, "Brother, you should pack up your books. You can move into the factory dormitory in a few days!"

Su Tong shook his head and sighed again: "You will definitely regret it, Ruyi, you definitely will."

When the two got home, it was already past eight o'clock.

Hearing the commotion, Guan Yumei saw that Su Tong and Su Ruyi had returned together. She glared at them and cursed, "You jinx! You've really gone too far since I got sick!"

Su Ruyi watched her go crazy in silence.

Guan Yumei was even more furious when she saw that Su Ruyi dared to look her in the eye.

At this moment, Su Manao suddenly rushed out and stood between the two, saying to Su Ruyi, "Sixth Sister, look how angry you've made Mom! Quickly apologize to her!"

As he spoke, he winked and made eye contact.

Su Ruyi pushed her aside and walked straight to Guan Yumei.

Guan Yumei had already picked up the large broom for sweeping the yard.

Seeing Su Ruyi approach, he swung a broom and started hitting her head and face.

Just as Su Tong was about to step forward to stop her, Su Ruyi grabbed the broom and pulled it into her own hand.

Now's the time to stop playing the fool—at least, to stop serving this capricious mother.

Her eyes were on Guan Yumei. She gripped the broom handle with both hands, and with a slight effort, the broom broke in two with a "crack".

She threw both pieces of broom in front of Guan Yumei.

For the first time, fear appeared in Guan Yumei's eyes.

After a moment of silence, she straightened her neck and shouted, "Master, come out quickly! The jinx is about to rebel!"

After calling for a long time, Su Dazhi didn't come out, but Su Jin did.

Seeing the tense atmosphere in the courtyard, he adopted the air of an older brother: "Tell me what happened?"
