Su Ruyi ignored Su Manao completely, picked up the bed sheet bundle, and walked into the west wing.
A minute later, she returned to the storage room with the bed sheet she had taken from Su Manao's bed in her hand, and without saying a word, spread it on her own bed.
"Su Dazhi! Are you going to do anything about this or not?!"
Standing in the courtyard, Guan Yumei finally realized what was happening and screamed, "This family is being cursed by even a jinx!"

Guan Yumei was so surprised her jaw almost dropped: "I was just sick, why are you all acting like you've taken the wrong medicine?"
Su Dazhi looked at Su Ruyi with a strange expression: "Where did you go?"
Su Tong said, "We went to the bookstore and ran into some of my classmates. One of them treated us to a meal at a state-run restaurant."
Guan Yumei pouted: "You can just go eat with your classmates by yourself. Isn't it bad luck to have a jinx following you around?"
"I just told you not to shout like that!" Su Dazhi glared at Guan Yumei, then said to Su Ruyi, "Sixth Sister, come in with me, I have something to ask you."
After saying that, he walked towards the main house with his hands behind his back.
"Sixth Sister," this was the first formal way Su Dazhi addressed Su Ruyi in both his lives.
Su Ruyi curled her lips and followed him inside.
"Did you take the accounting exam at the food factory yesterday and then give it to Lao Si?" Su Dazhi asked abruptly.
A chill ran through Su Ruyi's body.
How did he know?
Seeing that she didn't speak, Su Dazhi continued, "Don't hide it from me. When you went to take the exam, the husband of one of the young workers in my team saw you. Just tell me, did that happen?"
Su Ruyi nodded gently.
Su Dazhi said in a tone that left no room for argument, "This job is for your second brother. Your fourth brother is frail and sickly, so he shouldn't go to work!"
Su Ruyi frowned: "Dad, isn't Second Brother interning with you? He even said a while ago that there was a chance for him to be promoted to a full-time position."
"Sigh! It's not that easy! Getting a permanent position is a long wait, with a bunch of people ahead of you!" Su Dazhi sighed. "Your second brother will probably have to wait forever! Unlike you, who got this job by sheer luck, you'll be a permanent employee right away, and you'll even be assigned a dormitory!"

"Isn't it just addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division?" Su Dazhi said dismissively. "Besides, if he doesn't know how, he can just learn! Aren't you and Lao Si there to teach him?"
Su Ruyi shook her head and said, "Dad, my second brother really can't do it. This job requires a high school diploma. If you insist on making him go, he might not be able to do it, and he might lose the job."
No sooner had she finished speaking than Su Jin, who had been eavesdropping outside the door, suddenly rushed in, grabbed Su Ruyi by the collar, and lifted her up: "Looking down on people, huh? You think you're superior just because you've had a few more years of education?"

"Well... if you don't want to change, then don't. Can you help your second brother get a job too? Get one that he can do!" Su Dazhi asked, his tone even a little ingratiating.
"No. It's too risky to succeed by chance!" Su Ruyi said, then turned and left.
Su Dazhi didn't call out to her.
In the courtyard, Su Manao was rolling around in Guan Yumei's arms, crying so hard she could barely breathe.
There were two piles of clothes on the ground in the middle of the yard.

Su Ruyi then remembered that she hadn't washed her clothes for three days.

Looking at the pile of dirty clothes, Su Ruyi deeply felt that the washing machine was definitely the greatest invention of the 20th century!
