She silently took a few steps back.
After drinking her fill of water, Su Zhenzhu turned around and revealed an extremely chilling smile: "Get me my household registration book."
"What do you need the household registration book for?" Guan Yumei asked as she backed away.
“If you’re not blind, you should be able to see that I’m missing an arm, right?” Su Zhenzhu moved closer to her. “However, I’ve also benefited from this misfortune; I don’t have to go to the countryside anymore.”
“How dare you talk to your mother like that? You don’t even call her ‘Mom’ anymore? What’s the point of going to the countryside? Pearl, your arm, it’s just broken, isn’t it? Why was it amputated?” Guan Yumei’s voice trembled.
"Hmph." Su Zhenzhu sneered, without answering.
“Pearl, tell your mother, who cut off your arm? It must have been on purpose. Even if your arm is broken, you can just put it in a splint and hang it up. It will be fine in ten days or half a month! Tell your mother, who is it? I’m going to find him!” Guan Yumei’s voice gradually became indignant.
"Hahahaha!" Su Zhenzhu laughed loudly. "Find him, and then what? Extort some money, right? Even if my money tree is missing an arm, it can still make you shake down a lot of gold ingots, right?"
Having experienced a lifetime in her dream, she had already developed a sharp eye and saw through all of Guan Yumei's schemes.
"What are you saying, child!" Guan Yumei's eyes flashed with panic, and she managed to choke back a sob, but her eyes were dry and without a trace of moisture. "Both of you are my flesh and blood, and I love you too!"
"Really? I've been in the hospital for several days, and I haven't seen you bring me a single meal." Su Zhenzhu's sarcasm was practically overflowing from her ears.
"Didn't that jinx bring you food?" Guan Yumei asked curiously. "Didn't she go? Wait for her to come back, and Mom will stand up for you!"
"You're going to stand up for me? You're going to stand up for me, making me work as a temporary worker for ten years, handing over every single penny of my salary to you?"
Su Zhenzhu asked sharply, "Are you going to make me an old maid? I'm already 25, have you ever arranged a single blind date for me?"
"You said yourself that you weren't in a hurry to find a partner," Guan Yumei said, shifting the blame.
"Should I say that I'm in a hurry to get married?" Su Zhenzhu rolled her eyes. "What kind of young lady would say something so shameless?"
"Pearl, don't take this hard to believe, but to be honest—given your previous circumstances, it wasn't easy for you to find a partner. Now, you can forget about marrying into a good family!"
