Chapter 31 Framing

After Zheng understood, he immediately gave the brother and sister a thumbs up: "Su Dazhi and his wife are really blind! If I had children as smart as you two, I would definitely spoil them rotten! These two have lost their treasures and are now holding a piece of dog shit in their arms!"

Su Ruyi and Su Tong exchanged a glance, both knowing she was referring to Su Yin.

With the matter on Zheng's mind resolved, she happily followed the brother and sister, adopting the demeanor of a clerk, clearing her throat, and heading towards the Su family's house.

On the way, Su Ruyi transferred all of Zheng's small bills into her spatial storage.

Dozens of meters away from the Su family's courtyard, the group saw a group of neighbors gathered there, all peeking and peering in.

Upon seeing the group arrive, the neighbors, feeling embarrassed, tried to disperse.

As she drew closer, Su Ruyi heard Su Dazhi roar: "Tell me! Where did you put all the money in the house?! If you don't give me a straight answer today, you're not leaving tonight!"

Guan Yumei's voice was already hoarse from crying: "Husband, it really was the third son who took all the money from the house!"

Su Dazhi: "Still lying! Tell me, how much money did he take?!"

“I…” Guan Yumei hesitated, “I didn’t know, all the money in our family… must be… a thousand or so yuan…”

She misappropriated 800 yuan of the family's money and gave it to her third brother.

My third brother's son is getting married, and he's asking for a high dowry, plus three turns and one sound.

The third brother said he would pay it off within three years and even gave her an IOU.

In fact, she knew that her third brother would never be able to pay off the debt within three years.

But he'll always pay back a little bit.

Anyway, Su Dazhi doesn't care about the family's money, so she can just make up some other excuse and let it go.

I thought it was a safe bet, but who knew that the third brother would steal money at this critical moment?

Right now, although she favors the third son, she is about to be beaten to death herself, so she has no choice but to drag the third son down with her.

"You don't know how much money we have? A thousand or so? How much exactly?" Su Dazhi's face was no longer just black, it was as black as smoke.

Just then, at Su Ruyi's prompting, Officer Zheng knocked on the door.

Su Dazhi opened the door and, seeing that it was someone from the educated youth office, immediately cowered and forced a smile that looked more like a grimace: "Sister Zheng, is there something you need so late?"

As he spoke, he shut the gates outside the courtyard, shutting out all the neighbors who were craning their necks.

Before Officer Zheng could answer Su Dazhi, Su Ruyi had already dashed to Guan Yumei's side, who was slumped at the door of the main house, and cried out in tears, "Mom, is your heart made of stone? Not only did you sign me up for the rural service program, but you also took away my allowance. How am I supposed to live? Are you trying to force me to die?"

Guan Yumei looked up, her expression somewhat confused.

Her vision was blurred from the beating, and she couldn't immediately see who was speaking in front of her.

She held out her hand: "Is this the boss? You... weren't you exempt from going to the countryside? How come you only have one arm left, and they still want you to go to the countryside?"

Su Dazhi turned to Su Ruyi: "Going to the countryside? Your mother signed you up to go to the countryside too?"

Officer Zheng chimed in, "What's wrong with going to the countryside? Is your family resistant to it? Perfect, the neighborhood is looking for a role model, and I think your family would be a perfect fit!"

Su Dazhi panicked immediately: "Sister Zheng, what did you mean? I don't understand!"

Officer Zheng said, "Su Dazhi, you beat your wife so badly, do you want to be given a 're-education' session?"

Su Dazhi said with a forced smile, "No, no, I only hit her twice, but there was a reason for that. She lost the family's money and household registration book!"

Officer Zheng waved his hand: "I'm not here to listen to your nonsense! Your wife, Guan Yumei, is, in my opinion, far more enlightened than you!"

The more Su Dazhi listened, the more his heart sank: "Sister Zheng, what do you mean?"

Officer Zheng walked straight up to Guan Yumei: "Yumei, when you signed up your children for the rural service program, you took all the subsidies, right? Now that Su Zhenzhu is disabled, she doesn't have to go to the countryside anymore, so you have to return her subsidy of two hundred yuan."

Guan Yumei struggled to lift her head: "What rural service? What subsidies?"

Officer Zheng turned around and glared at Su Dazhi: "You went too far! Did you damage Yu Mei's brain? I think she's gone mad."

Su Dazhi understood, and rushed forward, so anxious that he could barely speak: "Sister Zheng, my wife... she signed up for someone to go to the countryside?"

Officer Zheng feigned surprise and asked, "You, as the head of the household, don't know about this?"

Su Dazhi shook his head.

"Besides Su Tong, your wife has signed up all the other children for the rural work assignment!"

Officer Zheng pretended to be a little impatient, "What's going on with your families? Are you all putting on airs with me? Let me tell you, return the subsidies immediately!"

Su Dazhi asked, "How much subsidy did she receive?"

“Mom received subsidies from my eldest sister, second brother, third brother, and sixth sister, two hundred yuan each, for a total of eight hundred yuan—I counted the money for Mom,” Su Tong replied.

The muscles on Su Dazhi's face twitched again.

He grabbed Guan Yumei, his eyes flashing with malice: "You have about a thousand yuan at home, and eight hundred in subsidies, that's a total of eighteen thousand! What did you do with all that money? Tell me!"

Guan Yumei shook her head vigorously a few times and looked at Su Tong: "Fourth brother, when did I...when did I sign you up for the rural service program?"

Su Tong looked at her worriedly: "Mom, have you really lost your mind? We went to the educated youth office together, you know..."
