Chapter 435 Love to Be Pretty

Three days later, Su Yin discovered a shocking fact—Wang Bo had already married Zhang, the widow from their workplace!

Every morning, Wang Bo gets up at around 5 a.m.

After cooking and serving Zhang the widow and her three sons their meals, he would send the two older children to school and the younger one to a nursery.

An extended plank, padded with thick foam, was strapped to the back of his bicycle.

Two older children sat in the back, while the younger one sat on the crossbeam.

Su Yin saw happy smiles on the faces of the three children.

When Su Yin arrived at school, she saw some classmates coming over to laugh at the two older kids, saying that their father was an idiot.

The older children pinned the classmate to the ground, and both of them sat on him, beating him until he cried loudly.

Wang Bo held the smaller one and cheered on the older children from the side.

After dropping off the child, Wang Bo went back to pick up Widow Zhang to go to work together.

Both of them had happy smiles on their faces.

Su Yin's gaze was fixed on Widow Zhang's belly—clearly, she was four or five months pregnant.

Every evening, the warm orange lights in Wang Bo's courtyard would turn on on time.

A family of five sat around the table.

The youngest son was held in Wang Bo's arms. Widow Zhang rearranged the dishes on the table and placed the only meat dish in front of Wang Bo.

While Zhang the widow was getting rice, Wang Bo changed the positions of the dishes back.

Dinner began, and the two eldest sons eagerly picked out meat from the dishes and put it into Wang Bo's bowl...

Su Yin's teeth were grinding together.

Wang Bo has clearly achieved the happy life he sought.

How could this be?!

Wang Bo has no desires or wants, so how can he take advantage of the situation?!

He remembered clearly that the secret recipe was kept in a very exquisite box, which he only discovered after a heavy rain washed away his family's cellar.

I just wonder if, in this life, a heavy rain will ever cause the cellar to collapse.

Therefore, we can only find out by digging.

But with a yard full of people, how could he possibly dig up their cellar in the dead of night?

Moreover, Su Yin noticed that the smell of manure seemed to have disappeared from Wang Bo's house!

Even if the house of two sanitation workers is very clean, it shouldn't be completely odorless, right?

That's so strange!

Su Yin went directly to one of his buddies at the sanitation department.

When that guy heard the name "Wang Bo," he clicked his tongue and said, "That big idiot who got lucky?"

"How did I get so lucky?" Su Yin asked, puzzled.

"You know Xia Dong fell from grace a while ago, right?" My buddy scoffed. "A new vice mayor came in, in charge of health and education. It's fucking weird, he took a liking to Wang Bo! He said Wang Bo was hardworking and reliable, and made him a model citizen for the whole city! That Wang Bo was wearing a big red flower, going to meetings every day! He just got incredibly lucky, and when he came back he was promoted to office director! He doesn't have to shovel manure anymore!"

"Huh? Isn't the office director...you?" Su Yin asked in surprise.

My buddy blinked a few times: "...It's not like that anymore. And, Yinzi, you know what? Wang Bo married Zhang Chunmei, the slut from our workplace! And what happened? This Zhang Chunmei, she must be forty by now, and she's pregnant again! Wang Bo pleaded with the vice mayor, and Zhang Chunmei got promoted along with her husband, and now she's sitting in an office!"

Su Yin: "..."

Wang Bo's life was so happy and fulfilling, and his work was so successful; this was something he truly hadn't expected.

No wonder Wang Bo felt confident enough to spit in his face!

Su Yin observed for another day and discovered that Widow Zhang only went to work once every other day!

On days when she wasn't working, Widow Zhang would carry her vegetable basket to the market to buy groceries.

On the street, she ran into an older woman from the neighborhood who asked her, "Chunmei, did you get fired from your job? Why aren't you at work?"

The person asking the question clearly had ill intentions. Widow Zhang pursed her lips: "Aunt Zhu, I'm on leave. My pregnancy isn't very stable, so my boss gave me special permission to work one day and rest the next!"

After saying that, he slung his basket over his shoulder and left with a pigeon-toed gait.

The older woman stomped her feet in anger behind her.

Su Yin followed Widow Zhang.

Seeing that Widow Zhang had taken a shortcut into an empty alley, Su Yin pulled down her hat, turned up her collar, ran a few steps, and pushed Widow Zhang to the ground from behind.

Without stopping, he turned and ran.

Widow Zhang fell to the ground, feeling a sharp pain in her abdomen. She suddenly felt weak and unable to move, unable even to call for help, let alone turn around to see who had pushed her down.

All she could do was keep her eyes wide open until all life disappeared from her gaze.

Su Yin returned to his rented courtyard, tore a crack in the wall he shared with Wang Bo's family, and waited quietly.

In the afternoon, there was finally some movement in Wang Bo's yard.

First, Wang Bo returned with a gloomy expression, and then Aunt Zhu, who had greeted Widow Zhang that morning, was called in.

Wang Bo said anxiously, "Aunt Zhu, here's five yuan, please take it—I need to trouble you with something!"

"Xiao Bo, just say it!" Aunt Zhu patted her chest. "My Pingping isn't around, and you've helped me with so much heavy work! I remember it all! I haven't been coming as often these days, mainly because I just can't get along with your husband! Xiao Bo, don't take it to heart, just tell me what you need me to do!"

Upon hearing this, Wang Bo's expression changed: "Aunt Zhu, Chunmei is gone."

"Gone?" Aunt Zhu took a few steps back. "How could that be? She was with me this morning...we chatted for a bit!"

“She… fell down in the alleyway where the vegetable market used to be… the child was gone, and she was gone too… by the time they found her, she was already gone…” Wang Bo said, wiping away tears with his sleeve.

"Oh!" Aunt Zhu's eyes immediately reddened. "What do you mean? She was perfectly fine... This... This must be because she insisted on wearing those heeled shoes! I saw her walking unsteadily in those shoes this morning!"

"Maybe so," Wang Bo said weakly. "Aunt Zhu, I need to take care of various procedures and go to the police station. Could you please pick up and drop off Da Bao, Er Bao, and Xiao Bao for me these next few days, and let them eat with you for a couple of days, okay?"

“Why not? I’ll go right now!” Aunt Zhu said, and was about to leave.

"Auntie, it's not time for school to let out yet!" Wang Bo stopped her, then hesitated for a moment before asking, "Those shoes... are they really that easy to slip on?"

Aunt Zhu nodded: "Sigh, I've told her before that she can't be so fashionable now that she's pregnant! But she won't listen!"
