Hearing this, Su Tong angrily stepped forward: "Mom! Ruyi always goes out with me, we always go to the bookstore or the library! Mom, why are you saying this about Ruyi? You don't dare say a word about my eldest sister who secretly got married, but you let Ruyi bully her, right?"
Guan Yumei was still a little intimidated by her fourth daughter who had a job, so she awkwardly shut her mouth: "...Mom is only doing this for her own good!"
As Guan Yumei had instructed, Su Dazhi dawdled and only drew one large ten-yuan note before handing it to Su Ruyi.
Ten yuan is still money, so why not take it?
Su Ruyi immediately put the money into her pocket.
"Why don't you go buy it later?" Su Dazhi's eyes were filled with anticipation.
"No way!" Guan Yumei jumped in again, "Let the jinx clean up this mess before we go out."
"I'll go tomorrow." Su Ruyi sensed that Su Dazhi was acting strangely, as if he was trying to trick her into going out.
After saying that, Su Ruyi turned around and was about to go back to the storage room.
Just then, she felt a gust of wind coming from behind her and quickly dodged.
Then she saw Guan Yumei fall to the ground at her feet, her mouth already covered in mud.
It was obvious that they had ambushed her, but she dodged it.
Su Dazhi lost his temper again: "Guan Yumei! Have you forgotten everything I told you?"
Upon hearing this roaring voice, Guan Yumei dared not make things difficult for Su Ruyi any further and had no choice but to get up and clean up the mess in the yard herself.
Su Ruyi nodded to Su Tong and then went back to her room.
She bolted the door, lay back on the kang (a heated brick bed), and pondered for a while.
Su Dazhi is too strange.
She looked at her patched clothes.
Buying new clothes, and in a rather urgent manner?
Is Su Dazhi trying to repackage himself and sell himself?
Just then, a noise came from the roof beam.
Su Ruyi released her divine sense and her eyes widened in shock—it was actually… a rat!
This storage room is not popular with the mice in the house because there is nothing to eat there.
Su Ruyi sat up in surprise, and the mouse, startled, immediately ran away.
Just then, something fell from the roof beam and hit her right on the head.
It's quite heavy.
Su Ruyi stared wide-eyed at the heavy object rolling away – it was a roll of money!
She quickly picked it up.
A roll of paper, bound tightly with rubber bands.
Judging by appearance, there are probably twenty or thirty of them.
Why is there a roll of Chinese currency on my roof beam?
Su Ruyi wanted to take the rubber bands off and count them, but after thinking about it, she held them in her hand and didn't move.
This matter is too strange.
Who hid this roll of money on her roof beam?
Could someone be trying to frame her?
Thinking of this, she quickly put the money into her spatial storage.
Just then, Su Tong shouted, "Dad! The house has been burgled!"
really!
Su Ruyi immediately hid a screwdriver in her sleeve and ran towards the east wing.
Su Dazhi rushed to the east wing and saw Su Tong pointing to a large footprint on his bed: "Look! There's such a big shoe print on my bed!"
Su Dazhi examined it closely: "This is... a shoe print?"
Su Tong's large dictionary was on his desk, open to the naked eye.
Su Ruyi's gaze lingered on the dictionary for a few seconds; clearly, the money in the dictionary was gone.
Then, she and Su Tong exchanged a glance, and Su Tong gently shook his head.
"Fourth brother, did you lose something?" Guan Yumei asked as she caught up.
Su Tong glanced at the dictionary again: "...No, not at all."
"Take another look! Check everywhere!" Su Dazhi walked around the room. "Just this one footprint, and it's a leather shoe print! That's strange!"
Su Tong suddenly squatted down and took out Su Jin's leather shoes from under the bed.
When they turned the shoe over, everyone fell silent.
The sole of Su Jin's leather shoes had the exact same shoe print as the one on Su Tong's bed sheet.
By this time, Su Tong had completely calmed down. He scratched his head and laughed, "I was making a fuss over nothing. I remember now, my second brother tried on his leather shoes this morning and accidentally dropped them on my bed."
"That's quite a fall, isn't it?" Su Dazhi rolled his eyes at him. "You're really good at shouting nonsense!"
Su Tong smiled sheepishly: "I was thinking of washing the sheets, but I forgot after going to the library."
Su Ruyi said, "Third Brother, I'll wash!"
As he spoke, he pulled off Su Tong's bed sheet.
Su Tong quickly snatched it back: "No, you didn't wash it clean enough!"
While the two were arguing over the bedsheet, Su Dazhi and Guan Yumei had already left.
Su Tong closed the door and whispered, "Ruyi, what do you think?"
Su Ruyi looked at the dictionary: "All lost?"
Su Tong nodded: "I was worried that it wouldn't be safe to take it to the dormitory since I wasn't living there. I didn't expect it to be stolen while I was at home!"
He shook his head again and patted his chest: "Luckily, I've been carrying with me all the money I earned from taking the exam with you these past few days."
"It's not Su Jin."
Su Ruyi immediately concluded, "This is clearly a setup."
“I think so too. Su Jin isn’t stupid or blind; there was such a big footprint! If it wasn’t him, who else could it be?”
Su Tong frowned deeply. "Whoever it is, their intentions are despicable! They want to see me and Su Jin fall out!"
"Fourth Brother, I have something to tell you, don't be afraid."
Su Ruyi said, "When I went back into the room just now, I found a mouse. And then..."
"Did a mouse bite you? Where did it bite? Your finger or your toe?"
Su Tong became anxious.
"No, no!"
Su Ruyi quickly waved her hand, "The mouse was running on the roof beam. When I found it, it had knocked something down. Look—"
