Chapter 63 Retribution

Su Xueshu then spoke softly, "Dazhi, what did your mother and I say back then—'Marrying an unvirtuous wife will bring disaster to three generations'! Alas, this is what they mean by 'Those who do not heed the advice of their elders will suffer the consequences'!"

After saying that, he kept shaking his head and sighing.

Su Dazhi ignored him and stared at Guan Yumei, asking for the third time, "Yumei, tell me, are what your three younger brothers said true or not?"

Deep down, a sliver of hope still lingered in his heart.

The woman in front of him was, after all, the woman he was willing to marry even after falling out with his entire family.

She bore him four sons, but he never had a single day of happiness with her.

Guan Yumei raised her head and said with difficulty, "Dazhi, when I lent money to my third brother, he said he would pay it back in three years. Why did you drive him to the brink of despair? He's my own brother! My own brother whom I raised from childhood!"

Upon hearing this, Su Dazhi staggered.

Su Xueshu quickly said, "Dazhi! Don't be sad! It's not worth it for this whore!"

"Ha ha!"

Su Dazhi laughed twice, then looked at Su Xueshu and said, "Dad, you're right, it's really not worth it."

After saying that, he went straight to the policeman and said, "Comrade, I want to divorce Guan Yumei."

As soon as she finished speaking, Guan Yumei rolled her eyes and fell off the chair with a thud.

Fortunately, his hands were still handcuffed to the back of the chair, so he didn't fall completely down; only his forehead hit the ground with a crisp "thud".

Su Dazhi glanced at Guan Yumei but did not reach out to help her.

It was a policewoman who helped her up, giving Su Dazhi a disapproving look: "You've gone too far, haven't you? If you want a divorce, go to the Civil Affairs Bureau. The police station can't process divorces!"

Guan Yumei closed her eyes tightly at this moment, utterly despondent.

The policewoman helped her up and whispered words of persuasion for a long time before Guan Yumei finally nodded. She was then taken by the policewoman to an empty room next door to rest.

Of course, the handcuffs were not removed.

Just then, the phone in the director's office rang extremely loudly, startling everyone.

After finishing the call, the director rushed out of his office, his expression extremely serious: "The hospital says that one of the three injured people sent there has died! Get the detention papers for everyone immediately! Hurry, hurry, hurry!"

The entire police station was immediately thrown into chaos.

Su Dazhi watched as his father, brothers, and twin nephews were all taken away.

Supported by the two men, the old man turned around and asked in a hoarse voice, "Who died? It wasn't my Dajian, was it?"

The director completely ignored him and simply instructed that the two groups of people be detained separately.

Guan Yuhe asked, his voice trembling with tears, "Officer, it wasn't my Guotao who died, was it?"

The director had a gloomy face and ignored the two of them.

The policewoman ran over and asked, "Chief, what about that woman named Guan Yumei? She says she didn't participate in the entire brawl!"

The director stopped everyone: "Wait! Who among you can testify for her?"

Unexpectedly, the housekeeper and everyone in the Su family said in unison: "She participated!"

The police chief gestured with his lip, and the policewoman had no choice but to lock up Guan Yumei as well.

Su Dazhi stood there, watching everything unfold, feeling dizzy and lightheaded.

how so?!

Why is it such a coincidence?

Guan Yumei is such a fool, he could have imagined she would do something like this, but why would his own father suddenly bring the whole family to beg for money?

Before they usually beg for money, they would go through several rounds of negotiation. First, they would write letters asking for money, then send telegrams, and then make phone calls. Finally, two or three people would come with Su Xueshu. Never before had such a large family come all at once!

Is this...is this fate that's going to destroy Su Dazhi?!

He's even trying to arrange a marriage between himself and Chen Weixing. How can he escape responsibility for someone's death?

Would Chen Weixing still want a wife whose family has a murderer?

...

As Su Dazhi was lost in despair, Su Xueshu made one last effort to turn around and cried out to him, tears streaming down his face, "Dazhi, go to the hospital to see your fifth brother! Go now! I beg you! You must save him!"

Su Xueshu was dragged away while crying.

Everything happened too fast, giving Su Dazhi no time to react.

"It would be good for you to go to the hospital to get checked out. After all, they are your relatives. Remember to bring money!" a policeman advised him.

Su Dazhi nodded and walked toward the hospital in a daze.

Right at the hospital entrance, he ran into Su Zhenzhu, who was being helped out by Wang Bo.

Their eyes met, and Su Dazhi's gaze shifted to Wang Bo. He raised his trembling hand and asked, "What...what did you do to her this time?"

Wang Bo quickly explained, "Dad! Pearl had a fever due to an infected wound, so we came to the hospital. She's had stitches and three anti-inflammatory injections, and her fever has subsided now!"

That one word, "Dad," almost made Su Dazhi collapse to the ground.

Looking at Wang Bo's disfigured face and the fawning smile on it, he felt a wave of nausea wash over him.

Su Zhenzhu ignored Su Dazhi completely and even scolded Wang Bo, saying, "Didn't I say I'd never talk to him again?"

With a forced smile, Wang Bo whispered to Su Dazhi, "Dad, Pearl was just saying that out of anger, please don't take it to heart!"

Su Dazhi turned to Su Zhenzhu and said, "Zhenzhu, something terrible has happened at home! Relatives from your mother's side and relatives from your grandmother's side got into a fight at our house, and someone died. We don't even know who it is yet. I've come here to find out what happened. Come on, come with me..."

Su Zhenzhu said "Oh" and interrupted him: "So you can make a trip to the hospital for your relatives' affairs, but not for your own daughter's broken arm."
