The sound of footsteps grew louder as they approached.
Immediately, Guan Yumei's anxious voice came from outside the courtyard gate: "Husband, open the gate quickly!"
Su Dazhi felt a chill run down his spine—wasn't she locked up? Could this be—a prison break?
He opened the door suspiciously, and there stood a dirty woman outside. Who else could it be but Guan Yumei?
When Guan Yumei saw him, her eyes lit up: "Is there anything to eat? I'm starving!"
After saying that, she pushed him aside and walked into the courtyard.
Upon seeing a half-eaten lunchbox of stir-fried chili peppers and a large white steamed bun on the floor of the main room, he cheered and pounced on it.
Su Dazhi glanced at his watch, then at the sun.
He had no idea what time it was, because he hadn't gone to get his watch repaired yet, and the jinx in the house, who was most accurate at reading the sun, wasn't there either.
He cut to the chase and asked, "Why are you back? Were you all released?"
With her mouth full of steamed buns, Guan Yumei replied indistinctly.
Su Dazhi: "Huh?"
Guan Yumei stretched her neck several times before finally swallowing the mouthful of rice in her mouth: "Why does this stir-fried chili pepper taste like meat?"
Su Dazhi frowned. The dish was stir-fried pork with chili peppers, and he finished eating the shredded pork.
Seeing that she was about to eat again, he snatched the steamed bun from her hand: "I'm asking you why you were released? Did you release all of you?"
Guan Yumei flashed a Mona Lisa smile and gently patted her lower abdomen.
Su Dazhi's eyes widened instantly, becoming as big as a bull's eyes.
He was very familiar with this action; she had done it to him seven times before, and each time she did it, a baby would be born into their family a few months later.
He asked, his voice trembling slightly, "You...you're pregnant again? You can get pregnant again?"
Guan Yumei nodded proudly: "This time it should be a boy again, sour for a boy and spicy for a girl, right? I just ate a few bites of chili and I can't eat anymore."
When Teacher Lin went crazy and bit her wrist, she was so frightened that she fainted and was taken to the hospital, where she was found to be pregnant.
"You were released just because you got pregnant?" Su Dazhi felt his vision go black.
“Yes, they said they'd wait until after I gave birth and finished my postpartum confinement before talking about it. What do you call spoiling someone like that!” Guan Yumei said.
She misunderstood the care policy as spoiling.
Su Dazhi, however, almost understood.
He looked up at the position of the sun again, but still couldn't figure it out.
Guan Yumei started wolfing down her food again.
He choked on his saliva and then picked up his teacup and gulped down cold water.
He took two sips, then suddenly vomited on the ground with a "whoosh": "Honey, is this water spoiled?"
Su Dazhi said impatiently, "I just drew it from the well!"
When Guan Yumei heard him say that, some images suddenly flashed through her mind.
She rushed to the well opening and looked inside. Covering her mouth and nose, she turned to Su Dazhi and said, "Honey, look at what's at the bottom of the well!"
Upon hearing this, Su Dazhi walked over suspiciously and peeked inside—
The well in the Su family's house is not deep, and a strange floating object can be seen at the bottom of the well with the naked eye.
Could someone have poisoned it?
Su Dazhi suddenly remembered that he had been suffering from diarrhea for two days.
He initially thought the food at the state-run restaurant was too oily and his bland stomach couldn't handle the pampering. Little did he know, someone had actually poisoned their well!
He blurted out, "It must have been your brother who poisoned me!"
Guan Yumei didn't argue with him. Instead, she covered her mouth and nose and said, "You should fish that thing out first."
Su Dazhi cranked the pulley and pulled the rope to control the water bucket.
After a few times, the thing went into the bucket.
It is a strip-shaped object.
As the thing was pulled up, its scent told everyone before its body could react, that it was excrement.
Su Dazhi still couldn't believe it, so he picked it up and smelled it again.
Guan Yumei had already turned around and was vomiting, her back bent over.
Su Dazhi couldn't hold back either, and the food in his stomach gushed out.
The two of them vomited for more than ten minutes, even bringing up bile.
Su Dazhi didn't say a word, because he had only ever met one person in his life who was capable of such a thing: his mother, Sun Qiaomei.
He had already heard the police mention Sun Qiaomei's flying attack on the day of the melee; clearly, this was a surprise Sun Qiaomei left for him before she was arrested.
He vomited the last bit of food from his stomach and sat weakly on the ground.
The couple looked at each other.
Guan Yumei asked, "Husband, what should we do with this well?"
Su Dazhi covered his ears: "Don't speak."
He didn't take the well matter to heart.
Before meeting Guan Yumei, he had made up his mind to divorce her.
However, she was pregnant.
Su Dazhi's gaze shifted to her lower abdomen.
Guan Yumei felt his gaze and smiled weakly, "What should we call this kid?"
"They should be called people who were born into the wrong family!"
Su Dazhi blurted out, then stood up, "I'm going to be late for work. Guan Yumei, I don't want this child! You can have it, but give it away! I still want a divorce!"
After saying that, he turned and left.
Guan Yumei wasn't angry at all. She even smiled and patted her lower abdomen: "My eighth son, my youngest son, you are truly my savior! Don't listen to your father's scaremongering! He's just being stubborn. If you were born, would he really give you away?"
Su Dazhi walked along, inhaling the scent of his own body.
He wiped his hands with several handfuls of dirt, which seemed to lessen the smell, but he still felt that the smell lingered on his body.
Never mind, let's leave it at that.
He looked up at the sun again.
It's obvious that it's past 8:30.
He didn't submit a leave slip either.
There was no escaping this day's work.
Since that's the case... he turned around and went to Haicheng First People's Hospital.
What did you say?
The elderly doctor, with his gray hair, jumped up in surprise after hearing his words.
"I said, can you castrate me?"
Su Dazhi repeated it again.
He thought about it carefully these past few days and realized that the reason his family couldn't make ends meet was not only because Guan Yumei was too dependent on her family, but also because she had given birth to too many children.
"I'm sorry, comrade, I don't know what's wrong with you, but we can't perform this surgery here!" the old doctor said coldly. Although he was wearing a mask, he could still smell a strange odor, combined with the strange request...
"Why can't you do it? Zhuang Xiaoqiang from our team had it done here. After he was castrated, his wife never got pregnant again!" Su Dazhi asked curiously.
He clearly remembered that Zhuang Xiaoqiang's wife had three difficult childbirths, and her family forced him to go to the hospital and castrated him.
Zhuang Xiaoqiang himself revealed this while drunk.
"Oh!" The old doctor understood. "You mean tubal ligation? Sure, you can have your blood checked first!"
"Yes, yes, yes! Vasectomy! When can I get a vasectomy? Can I do it today?" Su Dazhi asked hopefully.
