Chapter 94 Urgent Matter

Su Cuifang turned around and exchanged another glance with her sisters-in-law.

My father-in-law has a lover who is a widow.

The father-in-law's little tricks were kept secret from the mother-in-law and the other women. They all knew about them, and it even benefited them, because by exploiting this weakness of the father-in-law, they could extort a few cents from him from time to time.

Because their mother-in-law was such a terrible person, the sisters-in-law maintained a tacit understanding: they would see through her but not say anything.

Su Cuifang hesitated for a moment before saying, "Brother, it wasn't easy for us to come all this way. You can't just send us back with a few words. How about this, Third Sister-in-law, come with me to your factory and ask. Fourth Sister-in-law, you go home and find Mom. You can all go together..."

As she spoke, she lowered her voice and said, "Let's go check on Widow Chen!"

Seeing the others nod, she added, "We can't let outsiders swindle our fifty yuan!"

The group split into two groups and dispersed.

Su Dazhi gave a wry smile, found the wine bottle that had rolled into the mud, unscrewed the cap, and took a small sip, squinting as he watched their departing figures.

Su Ruyi!

You jinx, you're tired of living, trying to sabotage me, huh?

The key question is, how did this jinx know all about me?

Could it be that Guan Yumei or Su Jin let something slip and she overheard it?

After finishing his drink, he threw the bottle hard on the ground and walked towards the food factory.

Upon receiving the news, Su Tong rushed to the factory gate.

The gatekeeper had already recognized Su Dazhi's face because Su Tong had repeatedly instructed that his father was mentally ill and that he absolutely could not be let in. The gatekeeper also smelled a strong odor of alcohol on him, so he was on high alert and called over the security department before finally getting Su Tong out.

Yes, please bring out Su Tong.

Although he was only interning under Deputy Factory Director Su, everyone could see the eagerness with which he was being groomed as a successor.

Su Tong is a promising young man.

By the way, Su Xiangjun has been promoted to deputy factory director.

Furthermore, the two even share the same surname!

The factory had more speculations, and therefore became even more polite to Su Tong.

So what Su Tong saw was Su Dazhi, who was bent over on the ground with his arms tied behind his back by two security guards.

"Thank you, Brother Zhao and Brother Qian! I'm so sorry to have troubled you two!"

Su Tong first gestured for the two young men to release Su Dazhi, then offered cigarettes to the two men and the gatekeeper, and watched them leave.

Then he frowned at Su Dazhi, who was straightening his clothes, and said, "Dad, what are you doing? Why do you keep barging into our factory? Don't you know that food factories have safety regulations? Hey, who scratched your face?"

Su Dazhi didn't even have time to defend himself—he just said a few words to the gatekeeper and didn't try to force his way in, but he was immediately pinned to the ground.

He said urgently, "Fourth brother, bring Su Ruyi out here right now!"

Su Tong shook his head and said, "Ruyi has already gone to the countryside, Dad. Why don't you write to her if you have anything to say?"

Su Dazhi was stunned for a moment, then immediately believed Su Tong's words.

He couldn't remember the exact date when the children were to go to the countryside.

It seems that this little bitch was afraid that the truth about her despicable deeds would be exposed, so she slipped away!

Damn it, I'm too late!

He was turning to leave in frustration when suddenly his eyes widened.

Because he saw Su Ruyi standing across the street.

Wearing a crisp new outfit with a blue background and small white flowers, carrying a matching shoulder bag, she had a small, delicate face that made her look nothing like a member of the Su family.

After picking up the 3,000 yuan, Su Ruyi quickly left the Su family courtyard.

As soon as she returned to the state-run hotel, before she even went upstairs, the round-faced receptionist called out to her: "Comrade Su, your fourth brother called looking for you and left a message."

Taking the note, Su Ruyi's heart skipped a beat when she saw the words on it—"Come to the food factory immediately, it's urgent!"

When they arrived, they found Su Dazhi being pinned to the ground at the factory gate.

What bad luck!

When I went out, I felt something was strange.

A stinging sensation came from the red mole on my palm.

It's pain, not burning.

It feels like being pricked by a needle.

In her mind's eye, she felt as if the red mole was telling her not to go out, but her fourth brother said he had something important to tell her, and it was urgent. She thought about it again and again and was still worried, so she went out anyway.

Their eyes met, separated by a street. Su Dazhi pointed at her and said, "You jinx! You've been hiding your true colors all along! Your mother was absolutely right; she should have thrown you out onto the street to feed the dogs a long time ago!"

Su Ruyi remained motionless and replied loudly, "It's a pity you don't have the chance."

Su Dazhi was so angry at these words that he almost fell over backwards: "How could you be so heartless? Your fifth uncle and your cousin Guotao, they were both killed because of you!"

"Oh?" Su Ruyi raised her eyelids. "Didn't they die in a brawl? What does that have to do with me?"

Seeing that she refused to admit it, Su Dazhi suddenly sprang to his senses and charged at Su Ruyi like a madman: "You jinx, don't run! I'll beat you to death!"

Su Ruyi wanted to dodge, but hesitated for a moment and didn't move.

Because of the red mole, it burned again in that instant.

She watched helplessly as Su Dazhi, who had just rushed into the middle of the road, was hit and thrown into the air by a Jiefang CA10 truck that was speeding by.

In Haicheng in 1974, there were very few cars on the streets, and you could only see one of these Jiefang trucks every two or three days.

But just as Su Dazhi was rushing across the road, a car appeared out of nowhere without him noticing.

Su Tong couldn't help but exclaim in surprise, "Dad!"

He ran over.

Su Ruyi remained standing in the same spot without moving.

The truck wasn't going particularly fast.

Su Dazhi fell to the ground in an arc, his limbs immediately curling up as he hugged one foot. He didn't cry out in pain, but instead raised his head to look for Su Ruyi.

Seeing that Su Ruyi was standing motionless seven or eight meters away from him, he shouted, "You jinx, get over here!"

Su Ruyi still didn't move.

The truck had stopped, and the young driver ran out, his face contorted with grief. He stammered to the onlookers, "I really didn't see him. He just suddenly jaywalked across the road. I didn't mean to!"

Su Tong said, "You'd better take him to the hospital right away!"

"Yes! Yes, yes, yes!" The driver and Su Tong lifted Su Dazhi up and helped him into the driver's seat of the truck with great effort.

The movement caused Su Dazhi so much pain that he almost fainted, so he didn't even notice that Su Tong had gotten out of the car.

The driver was still thanking him: "Thank you, young man!"

The truck drove away.

Su Dazhi craned his neck and shouted back, "Su Tong! You unfilial son! My leg is broken! And you didn't even take me to the hospital?! And you jinx...you just wait..."

Su Tong did not turn around.

The truck turned a corner and disappeared, taking with it Su Dazhi's gritted teeth and curses.

Su Tong ignored her and walked towards Su Ruyi: "Were you scared?"

Su Ruyi shook her head: "Fourth Brother, what's the urgent matter?"
