Chapter 109 Divorce

Yu Jianhai never expected his family to go so far.

If he remembered correctly, Qianqian was only in her final year of high school not long ago, and now is the crucial time for her college entrance examination.

Going to the school and causing trouble would only hurt her, wouldn't it?

Yu Jianhai is no longer as blindly filial as before; he has begun to distinguish right from wrong and has the courage to speak out.

Say no to injustice and favoritism

Besides, he only got this job thanks to Shen Qianqian. If she hadn't reminded him, how would he have had the courage to try?

He used to think that Qianqian was a bit restless, but now that he thinks about it, it's all because the family used Qianqian's living expenses, and the family went too far.

My parents are usually very frugal, but they care a lot about my eldest brother.

Getting married, building a house, finding a job, and sending children to school—none of these require money.

All that money went to my older brother's family.

Yu Jianhai pushed open the door, startling the few people who were acting suspiciously inside. Seeing it was her second son, Old Mrs. Fang glared at him.

Yu Jianshan said irritably, "Second brother, how come you have no manners at all? You came in without knocking, scaring us."

"Mom, did you go to Qianqian's school today?!"

Yu Jianhai ignored his elder brother's sarcastic remarks and asked directly. Upon hearing this, Old Madam Fang became even more furious.

Why are you asking this?

Yu Jianhai: "Why are you going to the school to look for Qianqian? Her studies are the most important thing right now!"

Grandma Fang straightened up: "Chen Qianqian is talking nonsense outside. If we don't teach her a lesson, the Yu family's reputation will be ruined!"

Yu Jianhai: "Don't you know that everyone outside is talking about you...?" He was interrupted before he could finish speaking.

"Second brother, why are you worrying about an outsider? You should use that energy to take care of our family. You weren't like this before. You've really got some nerve now."

Yu Jianshan spoke in a sarcastic and ambiguous tone.

He sighed deeply and tried to elicit sympathy from Old Mrs. Fang: "Mom, I think my second brother thinks that since I'm unemployed, he can just trample on me. Sigh, Mom, my life is so hard. As the eldest son, I work diligently and conscientiously, and now..."

Hearing her eldest son, whom she had doted on since childhood, say these words, Old Mrs. Fang felt extremely distressed and immediately hugged Yu.

Seeing the mountain, she kept calling out, "My darling..."

Then, turning to look at the bewildered Yu Jianhai, she said, "Instead of wasting your time, you should take care of your older brother. He's your real brother. Lin Yang and Lin Yun are both studying at No. 2 Middle School. They don't look like they'll amount to anything. In the future, won't Lin Sen still be the one to help you out?"

"I've made the decision. Your job is now your older brother's; otherwise, neither your older brother nor your sister-in-law would have work."

"This is outrageous! You'd better come back and work in the fields."

Yu Jianhai's eyes widened, surprised that his mother hadn't given up on the idea.

"I've lost my job, what will happen to Lin Yun and Lin Yang's tuition? Mom, will you pay? Will my older brother pay?!"

Grandma Fang disagreed: "I've said it before, if you don't have the ability, don't study. Lin Yang is somewhat useful, but Lin Yun is no good."

Hearing these words, Yu Jianhai clenched his fists, suppressing his anger: "Lin Yun was in the top five in the class in the final exam, while Lin Sen couldn't even make it into the top fifty when he was in the first year of high school."

Grandma Fang's face stiffened, and her tone became even worse.

"So what if she's in the top five? It's a waste of money for girls to study so much. She might as well listen to me and find someone to marry. That would save her a lot of trouble."

Yu Jianshan seized the opportunity to speak up: "Second brother, Mom is right. Give me the factory job, and I'll take care of you all from now on. I'll definitely find Lin Yun a good family later, so don't worry." As long as he got this job, everything would be safe.

The brick factory wasn't doing well, so the couple just coasted along there, doing only so-so work. The factory leaders had actually talked to them before the new year, telling them to prepare for their departure, which was a done deal.

Then he learned that his second brother, who had accomplished nothing in the family and could only do farm work, had gotten a job at the new factory.

How could he possibly sit still?!

He had heard before that this factory didn't pay the highest wages, but it had good benefits and conditions.

Okay, and they say as long as I don't make any mistakes, I can stay indefinitely. I heard the landlord is from the capital.

He's not short of money.

Yu Jianhai had never seen such a shameless person.

He looked at his blood relatives before him. His eyes were icy cold.

"Impossible, I got this job through my own abilities, brother. If you want it..."

"Just work hard yourself, don't rely on your parents for everything."

"You used to get your job at the brick factory with your parents' meager allowance. Now you want my job for nothing. Who can someone like you support? Lin Sen repeated his studies several times with his parents' money too. You're destined to be a freeloader for life."

Yu Jianshan blushed and his chest heaved at these words. He hadn't expected his honest and unassuming second brother to be so sharp-tongued! Yu Jianshan held back for a moment, then turned to Old Madam Fang and frowned.

"Mom, my second brother's words were really too much. It's one thing for him to say that about me, but isn't that blatantly accusing you two of favoritism? I never imagined he harbored such resentment. Sigh, he's blaming us."

Old Mrs. Fang agreed with this assessment and became even more dissatisfied with her second son.

"Do you think it was easy for me to raise you? You just give me whatever I ask for! You have a perfectly good job, and you won't even know when you lose it!"

Yu Jianshan felt he had nothing to say to the others.

He exhaled, turned and left, but after taking only two steps, something hit him on the head. With a clatter, the stick fell to the ground.

"hiss-

Yu Jianhai froze for a moment, covered the back of his head, and turned to look at his mother, who hadn't retracted her hand, in disbelief.

"Ah Hai, are you alright?"

Just then, Wan Yindi appeared out of nowhere, looked at her husband with heartache, and without thinking, picked up the stick and threw it back.

Yu Jianshan was hit squarely, cried out in pain, and squatted down, covering his face.

Grandma Fang was extremely worried.

"Jianshan, Jianshan, are you alright?!"

"How dare you hit my son!"

Wan Yindi belatedly realized he was a little nervous, but then he remembered what he had overheard outside the door.

I got angry again.

"You even hit my man!"

"It's perfectly justified for me to beat my son!"

"It's only right that I beat up the scum who tried to steal my man's job!"

"You, you, you..."

Finally, Old Mrs. Fang turned to Yu Jianhai and ordered, "In this family, it's either me or your wife; if it's your wife, it's not me. You divorce her immediately. If you don't, we'll separate the family!"

Now, Wan Yindi panicked a little.

She knew what kind of person her husband was. Although he had been a little better lately, a person's temperament can't just change overnight. In his heart, she was definitely not as important as his biased mother!

Wan Yindi murmured, "Ah Hai..."

Before she could finish speaking, her left hand was suddenly grabbed. She was stunned for a moment, then heard the man beside her speak slowly.

"Then let's split up the family."
