Chapter 15 Rescue

Yu Linsen returned to the Yu family home and parked his bicycle under a tree.

He looked around the Yu family's courtyard, then frowned in disgust. He avoided the chicken droppings on the ground with his shiny leather shoes, walked to the door of Old Lady Fang's room, and took out his key from his pocket to open the door.

The food in the school cafeteria was terrible, and he ran out of living expenses again yesterday. He'd already asked his older sister for money twice this month. The third time, she refused to give him any more, so he endured it until he got home; he was starving.

Last time I saw there were three cans of malted milk powder in the cabinet in the milk room, so I'll take two cans to school this time, and also those wafer biscuits, they'll get soggy if I don't eat them soon.

In a short time, Yu Linsen had already made arrangements for the future of most of the snacks in the cabinet.

He opened the cupboard, only to find that the room he had imagined was filled with food, but instead it was just an empty wooden board.

son.

Yu Linsen frowned.

"Did they hide it in a different direction?"

Shen Qianqian ran back and saw the car parked under the tree. She went over, picked up the book bag from the basket, hung it on the tree, and then rode away.

When Lin Sen heard the noise and came out, the spot where he had parked was now empty. His canvas bag, containing only one book, was hanging on the tree, swaying back and forth.

Shen Qianqian rode very fast.

As expected of a new car, it feels great to drive.

Yu Linsen, that good-for-nothing, failed the college entrance exam twice, and he still has the nerve to ride such a nice bike? From today onwards, this bike is hers!

Shen Qianqian went directly to the commune middle school. The school was surrounded by a low white wall, and inside were two two-story, somewhat dilapidated teaching buildings.

"Hey, what are you looking at!"

A fierce-looking old man emerged from a small house next to the school gate. He sized up Shen Qianqian, who had suddenly appeared, as if assessing her character.

Shen Qianqian smiled slightly: "Sir, may I go inside and take a look?"

"This is a school, full of students. Do you think you can just walk in like that? Tell me, what are you doing here?"

The old man looked at her warily, suspecting she was a bad person.

Shen Qianqian parked the car next to her

“I know this is a school. I wouldn’t have come here if it weren’t a school. I just want to go in and ask the principal if I can study.”

The old man's expression relaxed slightly: "How old are you?"

Shen Qianqian honestly replied, "I'm eighteen. I haven't been to school, but I've always taken small gifts from relatives at home."

The child is learning on his own, and I even did some practice tests. Here they are.

Shen Qianqian took out the test questions she had done.

The old gatekeeper couldn't understand it, so he put the papers away and his attitude softened considerably: "I can't let you in, but I can take these papers to the principal for you. Write your name on them and come back in a few days."

Shen Qianqian had already prepared herself for failure, after all, this wasn't the only way out in her plan. Unexpectedly, she encountered a kind person!

After saying goodbye to the gatekeeper, Shen Qianqian rode her bicycle back home.

By the time we returned to the brigade, it was already dark, with only a thin layer of orange-purple remaining on the horizon.

color.

There are no streetlights here, and the clumps of dark grass on both sides of the path make it even harder to see.

Shen Qianqian muttered to herself as she rode.

"I'll go to the supply and marketing cooperative next time and buy a flashlight. Walking in the dark is too much trouble."

"Help··…"

Shen Qianqian slammed on the brakes and looked up to her left. She thought she heard someone shouting for help, but she remembered there was only a small river there. Had someone fallen into the water?

I don't think so, do I?

It's almost evening, who would still be playing by the water?

It's creepy.

Shen Qianqian stepped lightly on the pedals, about to leave.

"Help--"

Someone was actually shouting for help!

Shen Qianqian parked the car under the tree and ran quickly towards the river. Fortunately, the moon had risen early and there was a faint silvery glow on the ground, which allowed her to barely see the road under her feet.

Shen Qianqian quickly arrived at the riverbank. In the middle of the river, a child was struggling desperately. Although it was called a small river, it was actually quite large and had some depth. Usually, the women of the village would come here to wash clothes and such.

Shen Qianqian climbed down from a nearby rock, quickly swam to the child, and grabbed her. "Don't move. I'll take you back!"

But obviously, this statement might still be somewhat useful for adults, while children, when scared, don't care about anything else.

Shen Qianqian was punched as soon as she finished speaking. "Ouch..."

I really want to just throw it down and leave!

With one hand holding the struggling child, Shen Qianqian used the other to propel herself forward in the water, her feet following the movement as she swam.

In March, the water was still quite cold. Shen Qianqian felt her feet were a little numb. Ouch, could it be a cramp?!

They were almost at the shore. Shen Qianqian gritted her teeth and sped up, pushing the child so she could grab onto the grass and climb up. The child was quite clever; before she could even speak, she grabbed onto the grass and climbed up.

Shen Qianqian was still half a meter away from the shore. This distance was nothing; she could reach it with one hand. However, Shen Qianqian found that she was starting to lose her grip. Her legs began to cramp, and she started to fall downwards!

She drank a few sips of water and quickly grabbed onto the tall grass on the bank.

"Sister Qianqian!"

The child lay on the shore, clutching her hand and crying loudly.

Shen Qianqian then realized that the child she had just saved was actually Lin Dongsheng's granddaughter, Lin Hong, and that she had even given her a White Rabbit candy earlier that day!

"Stop crying, your sister Qianqian isn't dead yet! Go get someone, get someone to come and pull me up!" Lin Hong wiped away her tears and ran off.

Her legs throbbed with pain, so intense that Shen Qianqian gritted her teeth and couldn't speak. She could only grip the grass on the bank tightly with both hands to keep herself from sinking.

Lin Hong, a six-year-old child, was slow-moving; by the time she called the person over, she would probably already be...

It's gotten cold...
