The next day, led by Qi Ran, the two quickly found Shen Qianqian's house. They had just arrived downstairs when they ran into Shen Qianqian and Lu Yunzhi—Lu Yunzhi was riding a bicycle and was about to take Shen Qianqian to work at the small shop.
Chen Xiaofang immediately recognized that the bicycle was a very popular brand, one that ordinary people couldn't afford. Her desire to extort something from Chen Qianqian instantly swelled to its maximum.
She stepped forward and called out to Shen Qianqian, "Fifth sister-in-law. Let me introduce myself since this is our first meeting. I am Chen Xiaofang, your third brother's new wife."
After listening to her introduction, Shen Qianqian didn't even bother to look at her directly: "I know you."
Chen Xiaofang was secretly delighted; it seemed that she still held some weight in Shen Qianqian's heart.
Who knew that Shen Qianqian's next words were: "Mistresses who destroy families are like rats in the street, hated by everyone. It's hard not to know that!"
"What did you say?!"
Shen Qianqian's voice was not quiet. As soon as she finished speaking, the curious gazes of the people around her fell on Chen Xiaofang, and Chen Xiaofang's face instantly turned red with embarrassment.
She was still stubbornly trying to argue: "Lu Yunchuan and I only got together after he and Shen Qian divorced. Which eye of yours saw me interfere in someone else's family? Why do you call me a mistress?"
Shen Qianqian crossed her arms and sneered, "You know perfectly well how they got divorced."
After she finished speaking, the gazes of the crowd that had been fixed on Chen Xiaofang instantly turned to contempt. "You—!"
Chen Xiaofang was young and impetuous; a few words from Shen Qianqian made her blush.
On the contrary, Chen's mother calmed down at this moment and stepped in to smooth things over.
"Alright, everyone, let's all keep quiet. How can a divorce be judged solely on one side's fault?" Chen's mother continued, "When Lu Yunchuan divorced his ex-wife, can you guarantee that his ex-wife was completely without fault?"
She sighed again, feigning regret, "Oh, you see, I'm just prone to veer off-topic. Let's not talk about the past anymore. We're here mainly to visit relatives today."
Chen's mother pushed Chen Xiaofang in front of Shen Qianqian and Lu Yunzhi: "Look, Xiaofang just married into the Lu family. You and Lu Yunzhi are the only ones who haven't met yet, so Xiaofang insisted on meeting you today."
Chen's mother wore a perfectly measured smile. Anyone who didn't know better would have thought she was just visiting a relative and, finding nothing interesting, would have dispersed. Only Shen Qianqian and Lu Yunzhi, standing before her, sensed a deeper meaning behind that smile.
They said they were visiting relatives, but I bet they just wanted to get their hands on something they had!
As expected, Chen Xiaofang followed her mother's lead and said, "Look at me now, I'm married to Yunchuan, so I'm considered part of the Lu family now."
"So?" Shen Qianqian waited quietly for Chen Xiaofang to continue.
"You see, about the small shop, shouldn't I also know about its whereabouts?"
"Yes," Chen Xiaofang said, revealing her true feelings. "When Lu Yunchuan wanted to return it to you, he didn't even ask for my opinion. Of course, I disagreed. You see, we don't have any other source of income right now; our whole family depends on this little shop for food."
"Later, Yun Chuan realized he was wrong," Chen Xiaofang said, trying to make amends. "He wanted to get the store back, but he was too embarrassed to ask, so he asked me to do it."
"Oh, I see. So you want to take the small shop back, right?" Shen Qianqian understood what Chen Xiaofang wanted to do, and she continued, "Then have Third Brother come and talk to us in person."
Upon hearing this, Chen Xiaofang couldn't contain her anger any longer and retorted to Shen Qianqian, "If he could come, would I need to come in person?"
She had barely uttered those words when Chen's mother grabbed her sleeve and shook her head almost imperceptibly. In the end, it was Chen's mother who stepped forward and said, "What Xiaofang means is that they are husband and wife now, so it doesn't matter who comes."
"So what if they're a couple? I only agreed to transfer it to Third Brother and Sister Qian. What does it have to do with you?" Shen Qianqian said bluntly. "In short, if you want the shop, let Third Brother come and talk to me. I'm not going to give the shop to a morally corrupt mistress. Maybe it'll even ruin my own reputation!"
After Shen Qianqian finished speaking, she sat on the back of the bicycle and was about to leave when Chen's mother called her back.
“We originally said we'd help out of family ties, if we could. But we didn't expect you to be so cold and heartless. It seems there's no need for us to keep hiding that matter from you anymore,” said Chen's mother.
"Exactly!" Chen Xiaofang vented all her anger: "You keep calling others morally corrupt, but I think you're the worst one! If you don't help us, we'll expose this tomorrow. You can just wait to go to jail!"
Chen Xiaofang was extremely arrogant. If her mother hadn't held her back, she probably would have rushed outside and exposed what Shen Qianqian had done.
Shen Qianqian shrugged indifferently: "Go ahead and stab me, I don't care at all."
She was absolutely certain that she hadn't done anything heinous, and even if Chen Xiaofang wanted to cause trouble, she couldn't do anything about it.
The two didn't linger this time and left immediately. Chen Xiaofang was left alone, stomping her feet in frustration as she watched their departing figures.
"Mom, what are we going to do now?" Chen Xiaofang grabbed her mother in a fit of anger, her eyes filled with jealousy: "You saw it yourself, how well-off Shen Qianqian's family is. I'm not willing to let this opportunity slip through my fingers!"
